Terribly Disappointed – This Is NOT a 4-Star HotelOur recent stay at Arck Hotel Pratunam Bangkok was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. If you're considering booking this hotel because of its 4-star rating on Trip.com, please think again — this place is nowhere near what a 4-star establishment should be.Location Misleading:While it’s located near the Pratunam area and just opposite Platinum Mall, the hotel is hidden in a narrow alley — not exactly the safest or most convenient access, especially for families or elderly travellers. Finding it was already the first hassle.False Advertising – Not a 4-Star Experience:Let’s be honest: I believe this hotel appears to be a rebranded version of Hotel Vista Express (confirmed by the floor mat still bearing the old name). The lobby might have been renovated, but that’s where the “4-star” illusion ends. The rest of the hotel, especially the rooms, is run-down and outdated.Room Conditions – Old, Unkempt and Incomplete:The rooms were not properly cleaned and felt dated. The furniture looked tired, the lighting was poor, and basic amenities were missing. We had to repeatedly call the reception just to request essentials like toothbrushes, toothpaste, bathrobes, and even a basket for used towels — all items that should already be provided in a room claiming 4-star status. Even more absurd, the bathroom had a sign asking us to put towels and bathrobes in a basket that was never there. They do not provide irons or ironing boards in the rooms either — you have to call room service and wait for someone to bring them, and the staff were incredibly cold and unwelcoming. Unbelievable Housekeeping Policy – Charged for “Stained” Sheets:This was the worst part of our stay. We were told that we had to wash the bedsheet ourselves because they found some minor stains — possibly from a brand-new Tiger Balm my wife had just bought. Otherwise, they would charge us 2,500 baht for a replacement. What kind of “4-star hotel” expects guests to hand-wash sheets during a vacation?Ironically, the next set of bedsheets they gave us already had stains — and they said that was acceptable. So the double standards and their eagerness to charge us for the slightest thing left us speechless.Staff Attitude – Cold and Unprofessional:Throughout our stay, we felt like we were bothering the staff every time we requested something. There was no hospitality, no warmth, no effort to make us feel welcome. For a hotel in the heart of Bangkok’s tourist district, the service was shockingly poor.________________________________________Final Verdict:We've stayed in budget hotels that provided far better service, cleanliness, and value than Arck Hotel. This was hands down one of the most unpleasant hotel experiences we've had — we ended up spending more time arguing over policies and calling reception than enjoying our vacation.Avoid this hotel at all costs. Spend your money elsewhere — you...
Read moreThe location of the hotel is wonderful, right in the middle of Pratunam morning market. A huge variety of food choices, big shopping market all around. Pretty near to the big malls, just a long walk with lots of shopping throughout. The elderly might feel tiring. The street into the hotel is always crowded and mostly one way, so it might take some time for your transport to reach the outside in daytime.
But the walk to the hotel might be a little dark at night. Safe thing is there a many street vendors from day time till midnight. Their bright lights and food smell leads the way.
The buffet breakfast is simple and good. Not extremely pricey yet it fills your tummy. The down side is I saw a baby cockroach on the drinks counter passing by. The service of the counter staffs are not very friendly, when we are checking out, they’ll need to double check if the room is on point, but the counter staff(male) did not inform us when they’re done with the checks, until I ask them if everything is good so we can leave. They’re chitchatting away laughing. The young lady at the counter when we did our check in is real friendly though, as well as the staffs who handle our luggage before check ins.
Overall the room is old, very old. Old with weird smell which you’ll have to open the window to air everyday. You can also notice the fixtures are not maintained. Not sure if the toothpaste(maybe) stains on the bathroom wall are how many years old. Many screws are loose or no where to be found, all hanging by a thread. There are also tiny dust mites on the wallpapers.
One of our rooms has instances where there are knocking on the door but nobody was outside. We wasn’t sure if its by the housekeepers or...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this hotel. In terms of location is also a mixed feeling. First of all, the location is good in terms of how near you are to everything. There are many massage parlours in this area and street food vendors. It is very near to Platinum Mall and many other clothing shop. However, the area around the hotel is pretty dirty and bustling so it is pretty noisy. The entrance to this hotel is extremely hard to find because its very small lift lobby is nestled deep inside columns of clothing shops. You will hardly know that the entrance of the hotel is behind some clothing shops. You have to squeeze your way past the patrons of those clothing shops to go into the hotel. I wish the hotel would buy the space on the ground level, otherwise, all guests will have a hard time finding the entrance.
Also, the room is not sound proof at all. We were assigned this connecting room, so we basically heard every conversation of the guests in the next room. Whether male/female. Even when they were just rummaging through their plastic bags of stuff, or just blow drying their hair or taking a shower, we heard everything.
Also, the housekeeper changed the bedsheets (which is good) but forgot to put on pillow case for one of the pillows.
The plus point given to this hotel was their complimentary tea given. I quite enjoyed it.
Though I must say, their breakfast was really sad. So I’m not sure if that complimentary tea given was to appease guests and make up for all the other shortcomings of...
