Travel with a group of 4 colleague just to unwind from our work a short gateaway.
I would give this hotel location 10 STAR betterso million star, Very strategic, walking distance to grand bazaar and haga sofia and blue mosque, next to the hotel is show supermarket, where we can buy fresh produce and toiletries so no need to bring so much from home, next to it, is a shop selling lokum and tea and many local product same like the shop inside grand bazaar better yet is just next to this hotel and show supermarket ( will upload picture of the shop) ( i highly recommend going to this shop as the price are far more cheaper than grand bazaar, owner are so humble and friendly and try to attend to us with his basic english often time we have to use google translate and never get angry and tire with our endless question. Never push us to buy things that we dont want. Disclaimer: this is my honest review as a tourist compare to many other countries that I went)
Rooms: room 103, very clean and mattress not bad at all though I can be picky with mattress if it not so firm cause i have lumbar ache. Size of the mattress fit for asian built im 5”3. There is safety box and good size wardrobe to hang our cloth. Size of the room wasnt big and not too small, if you have large size luggages and more than 3 maybe a bit difficult to walk around the room, they provide room slipper, have mini fridge filled with drinks ( all drinks and snacks inside fridge and on top of dressing table are chargeable. The price are display on top of the table. The socket they have is 2 pin anyway just bring international socket you will never go wrong with that. Toilet- shower you have to go inside the glass cover area to shower if you wet the floor management will charge you if water leak to floor downstair as under the tiles is made of wood. Anyway, it is written inside the room. Toilet is clean, good size but the not so good size is the shower area, with my overweight BMI the glass door open area is quit small so i have to squeeze a bit to get inside and you cant stretch much inside to shower like bending too much. Ow my. Still not so bad after all.
Breakfast- our menu for the past 4 days is boiled eggs, omellete, cuts sosauges, french fries, cold dish and variety of salad, fresh fruit, assorted jem inside a packet also butter, 3 choices of cereal, bread white and brown, french bread already cut, cookies . Toast machine also available. They have coffee machine , hot water dispenser as they have assorted teabag to choose from, 2 types of juices inside machine not freshly press. I love their coffee with milk from the machine so tasty. You should try it.
Lobby - so clean and big with heater since we came in the month of November.
Rooftop- we wanted to visit unfortunately front office staff said is close for the past few days due to rain.
Downside- we stay one night in a difrent room the water leak so badly on the floor after shower like a mini flood inside the bathroom and we called front office around midnight to get more towel for floor to wipe off the water he said yes, so we waited for a while after that we fell asleep due to too long waiting and also very tired. Then we check out the next day and came back again to Aprilis hotel and stayed another room. Luckily the room have no water leak issue but have AC issue, so it suddenly stop and we feel like no ventilation inside the room and we cant open the window due to cold weather outside. We called again front office to have someone come inside to have a look ( this was late at night), he said yes and yet no one came after much waiting so the next day we went to front office to raise the concern and straight away he send work control to our room while we are there and just few minute AC issue solve.
Overall, if given a chance to go turkey again i would love to stay here again for it has the best location as for the food just across the tiny road ( one way street)you can have indian food, kebab, and walk out a bit you can have starbucks coffee, fastfood like burger king next to it is...
Read more0-Star Hotel We had booked two rooms at Aprilis Hotel. Apon arrival we were given first given rooms, which weren‘t properly cleaned. It was only possible to change the rooms with an extra fee. We changed rooms, but one of the rooms had a generator on the outside, that was running all night and made it impossible to sleep (with closed windows). We could switch that room after 2 days of not sleeping. Next problem was the lying bald headed manager! He told us the generator would be switched off, which wasn‘t true. It was running all the time. Also, it was a bit colder the time we were there and the blankets on the beds were too thin to keep us warm properly. There were thicker blankets in the close, but without covers. When we asked the, if we could have covers he told us that they don‘t have covers and that the blankets are cleaned every day. That was a total lie! The thick blankets had stains so they couldn‘t be cleaned every day. And later we asked the cleaning ladies for covers and - what a surprise - they had covers! Trying to deceive the guests with lies is the least you expect at a „4-Star Hotel“. The rooms itself might have been nice and comfortable 5 or 6 years ago, but heavy marks of usage wore them down. The matresses were uncomfortable. There were marks everywhere on the wall. The floor had holes and dents. The shower didn’t work properly... The breakfast was below avarage. So we decided to eat breakfast outside. When we asked to order a taxi to the Airport the day before our departure we were told it wasn‘t necessary and that the driver would be there in 5 min. We waited for almost 20min. Wouldn‘t recommend anyone coming to visit the beautiful Istanbul...
Read moreThe location of April’s hotel is ideal to explore old Istanbul. I was pleasantly surprised about how being in such a central location in the middle of all the action and facing the street, our room was super quiet and we could barely hear anything from outside. The breakfast was delicious! An assortment of breads, cheeses, cold cuts, typically Turkish and so plentiful! I especially recommend the croissants, cookies and banana bread, all baked in house. There is a tram stop to the T1 line really close to the hotel. Public transport is easy to understand and convenient to venture further afield in Istanbul, so we found this a definite perk of the hotel.||The whole staff at April’s is super friendly. The people at reception helped us book transfers to the airport and offered support to connect to the Wifi. The cleaning staff were very accommodating when we were coming in and out of the room.||The terrace at Aprilis is breezy and has an amazing view over the Sea of Marmara. |We were a bit hesitant about the Wifi connection at April’s (based on reviews) and were pleasantly surprised that steps have been taken to solve this and make it a reliable service. No complaints on this front. ||The only negative thing (if any) I would have to say is that our flight was quite late and we requested to use the room for a few more hours free of charge but were refused, even though the hotel was quite empty. We got an extra hour though and hung out at the lovely terrace and charge our...
