Oyster Residences is a Brilliant Hotel… but not for those who like to sleep at night…
4 star hotel right on the beachside of the tourist town, Ölüdeniz. If you're looking for a paradise setting that’ll give your Instagram a serious glow-up, this is the spot for you. The atmosphere in the hotel is very reminiscent of the atmosphere of Hayao Miyazaki's worlds. In this hotel, you can practically roll out of bed and go straight into the sea. But… that’s if you actually get any sleep.
That's the main issue here, the noise. Ölüdeniz, being a tourist hotspot, means there are a lot of nightclubs nearby, and they seem to compete on who can blast their music the loudest at night. The booming bass doesn’t stop until around roughly 2:30 AM, so if you're hoping for a peaceful night, think again. If you enjoy late-night raves or have a deep appreciation for high-decibel beats, you’ll fit right in. For the rest of us? Not so much.
My stay included breakfast, breakfast as many of you know opens very early and closes pretty early as well in many hotels. So after a night of listening to nightclub music, you wake up and basically drag yourself half-dead half-alive to this breakfast, since you paid for it. Speaking of breakfast, it's a mix of self-service and waiter-ordered options. You can get fresh fruit, pancakes, and juice yourself. As well as, order your desired breakfast. They don't have a menu, so you will have to figure it out yourself what exactly you want for breakfast.
The rooms are cozy, with a charming wooden design that fits the "dream holiday" vibe perfectly. However, if you get an attic room like I did, be prepared to whack your head on the oddly angled ceiling good few times. Room do have an air conditioning which you can turn on and off, but air conditioning is aimed directly at the bed, which can lead to a stiff neck or even catching a cold if you're not careful.
Another thing to mention, all guest rooms are located in different buildings and require stairs to reach your desired room. So if you are traveling with person who uses wheelchair, or elderly person or any person who has injuries, this hotel will not be a good option for you. Even first floor rooms will require you to climb a few steps.
On the bright side, this hotel features a stunning outdoor pool surrounded by olive trees. It’s easily my personal highlight of the stay in this hotel.
Another thing I want to note, is the parking... The hotel does offer parking on its promises, but it's sooooo tiny, and cars are crammed in like sardines in the can. So you are required to give the keys to the receptionist when staying in the hotel, so they can shuffle cars around. So If you’re a little paranoid about your car or your stuff inside, you might want to think twice. I'm just saying, the cars parked a few cm to each other.
Overall, Oyster Residences is a beautiful hotel for a dream summer holiday, perfect for beach lovers and Instagrammers. Just be ready for a few sleepless nights and minor annoyances...
Read moreSadly, we won’t be staying again. We visited 9 years ago, and whilst we expected obvious changes, it has completely lost its charm, looks tired and lacks generally any of the Turkish ambiance it had. The great points – all the team @ Oyster are friendly, very nice attentive and helpful, putting up with bad attempts at speaking Turkish; the food / wine is lovely and great to get a discount as we were staying there, one night walking on the beach front we passed by a few older chaps listening to Turkish music which was lovely, we also felt very safe there walking around. The weather was wonderful. Breakfast was lovely with the ability to have a full English every day with the expectation of a continental this was brilliant! The not-so-great points – the ROOM is tired, and the furnishings are dated (toothbrush plugs not working, safety pins holding things together, only 8 hangers, a section of the door fell off on entering, the bathroom needs to be re-grouted as its black, the towels were so stiff they nearly stood up on their own and the lighting was very dim), unfortunately the jacuzzi is outside and you can hold hands with your neighbours, as they are side to side - not private and all looked unused. The NOISE – really, its awful, we read reviews and expected some, but it bellows out until the early hours and is incredibly close. We grabbed a few hours of sporadic sleep, even with ear plugs in, after 8 nights we are shattered – if I hear “we will rock you” again, it will remind me of Turkey instead of the call to prayer which was so prevalent previously. The gardens were watered at 2am and sounded like a shower storm outside of the room door followed a bit later by the containers carrying fresh laundry rolling past like a train. There were regular arguments / shouting and banging’s / slamming and thumping of doors to be let in through into the early hours. When you look forward to getting into the POOL to relax, by early morning ALL the sunbeds are covered with towels, where all day there are no more than 6 - 8 people by the pool and the furnishings such as the hammocks are un-usable as they are torn. We noted, the promotional cards on the tables, the hotel boasts of being Skal International awarded, on researching the date is 10 years ago. Sadly, probably when it was...

What can I say!! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the manager murat, this gentleman was so nice could not stop smiling, took our cases of us and showed us to our room. And wow!!! If you are looking for something more shabby chic and traditional this is definitely for you. We were in room 119 right next to the pool, what a gorgeous view. Our own wooden veranda with a table and small sofa , ideal for just chilling out when it gets too hot. Murat gave us all the information we needed. This gentleman is simply priceless, he was like superman 🦸🦸 we had a problem with the air-conditioning, he fix it immediately, He was always running around and doing jobs. But always had time for a chat.
The next morning we went for breakfast and was greeted by a lovely lady call Sue, Again nothing was a chore, she explained everything we needed to know and was always asking if we needed anything else. She was like the mum of the group.
The restaurant area is situated right on the beachfront with breathtaking views. Everywhere is simply spotless and the waiters cannot do enough for you. I would like to say a big thank you to Nevzat you can't miss him he has the most amazing blue eyes, this young man was always there to help 👍👍
Also Sayat again so helpful nothing was left unturned, he was on it like a shot. The other waiters.. Baris.. Murat.. Alper You all my our stay so memorable.
The hotel is situated right in the heart of the nightlife. But all seemed to calm down around 12:30 pm , there are abundance of restaurants and bars nearby. Also boat trips paragliding, 🪂 which I did and would say to anybody have ago the most amazing experience. They land directly outside hotel. This holiday is what you make it, either chill out or enjoyed the activities around you. We met some amazing friendly people, and had a memorable stay. Would we return again definitely!! in a heartbeat.
Hope to see...
