Our 4 day stay in the King Suite was extremely disappointing!! There were some positives to the place, but these were far out weighed by our negative experiences. I don’t usually write reviews but I felt I needed to. Do not stay here and you will enjoy your Cappadocia trip.
POSITIVES -the hotel grounds and the morning views were amazing -our hot air balloon experience was cancelled due to bad weather, we tried contacting multiple companies all of whom had no availability in the following days. We spoke to the hotel and they managed to book us into a ride for our third morning.
NEGATIVES -Our main shower head was broken and we were not able to shower the first night. Thankfully this was fixed the next morning however it is frustrating to not be able to shower when we have paid so much for a king suite -As the maintenance guy came to fix the shower, we left the room for the day shortly afterward leaving the door sign requesting house keeping. On arrival back to our room that evening, we could see the room was left unlocked the entire day, and house keeping had not come to make up the room. We informed reception that evening with much difficulty (due to their lack of English), and again the following morning which again was with much difficulty due to the language barrier. We barely received an apology, and no assurance that better care will be taken going forward. They simply asked if anything was stolen, to which we reiterated that is not the point, it is the risk and now annoyance that we have to check nothing was stolen. They didn’t at all seem apologetic that they had left our room unlocked the entire day and that house keeping had not come to make up the room -the house keeping on our second day was the worst house keeping job ever seen. The spa tub was not cleaned, the shower floor was not mopped (with the muddy foot prints of the maintenance guy from the previous day still there), curtains weren’t drawn and properly left etc -My wife had terrible food poisoning on our final day, and so I went to reception to ask if we could have the room or any other room for the day (which we would pay for) as she could barely get out of bed. They said all rooms were all completely booked, but we could use the public guest lounge area till our transfer shuttle that evening. Whilst she was resting on the couch we could hear from the reception (which was in the room above the guest lounge) that someone had come in and asked for 2 rooms for that evening and surely enough they had availability and booked him in. This was so disrespectful that they outright lied to our faces and turned down our full payment -we booked an airport shuttle through the hotel, and confirmed our flight time was 9:40pm. When we confirmed the time of the shuttle the evening before leaving, they said the shuttle would come to pick us up at 7:40pm. It takes a little over one hour to the airport when there is no traffic, so when we went back to him to say this would be risky if there was any traffic or delay, he said this was the only shuttle time. At no point did reception come to us to inform us that there is no earlier shuttle, they simply waited for us to ask them, and to then only say there is nothing they can do. Luckily the following morning we received a call to say a shuttle can now pick us up at 7:15pm. If we hadn’t raised this to their attention, I’m not sure they would have tried to find us another shuttle. -language barrier: so many reviews have mentioned this and we could not agree more. Merely asking for some plain bread toast (as my wife was sick) took bout 5 minutes. There are numerous examples which just made it all the more annoying to communicate with the staff
Overall, this hotel has so much potential, so it was extremely disappointing that our experience didn’t live up to the expectations. Especially as we paid for a king suite- which we imagine is one of their best rooms. I really hope they look into the above feedback, and...
Read moreA fantastic hotel with magical views||As a travel agent, I love sending clients to hotels I’ve personally experienced. In this case, it was the other way around — I had already recommended the Doors of Cappadocia to clients who came back delighted, and now I can say the same after my own stay.||Check-in & Facilities|The welcome was smooth and friendly. A quick tip: reception is located at the top level, but your room may not be, so don’t haul your luggage up unnecessarily. The hotel has a nice bar, well-stocked for both daytime and evening drinks. The pool is a real highlight, though the pool towels could use refreshing (a little worn and mismatched).||Dining|Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice and a pleasant start to the day. Lunch, however, is limited with only a handful of options — the burger was tasty, but overall the menu could be improved. We chose not to dine in for dinner as the evening menu was similarly limited, but the town is only a short walk away and offers plenty of restaurants.||Views|Absolutely breathtaking. From the rooftop terrace, you get an incredible panorama of the hot air balloons rising over Göreme. For a hotel so close to town, the views exceeded expectations and are reason enough to stay here.||Rooms|We stayed in room 105, the top-floor King Suite. It was beautiful — traditional stone design, very clean, and well-equipped. The bed was firm (common in Turkey), which we didn’t mind, though the pillows could be better — perhaps offering both firm and soft options would improve comfort.||Location|Perfectly placed, just a 10-minute walk to countless restaurants, bars, and shops. Everything you need is on your doorstep.||Summary|This is a hotel we would absolutely return to, and I can confidently recommend it to my clients. The views alone make it worth booking. A little advice: don’t pay extra for a specific room type in hopes of a view — no rooms overlook the balloons directly, so you’ll be heading to the rooftop terrace anyway. Save your money and enjoy the shared spaces, because you’ll spend more time outside soaking up the magic than...
Read moreHotel rooms were just ok but biggest problem was AC heating when outside is very cold at night 0C was not working! Staff tried to trick me but did not manage. They bring portable heater which was very old and did not seem safe. I asked to give me other room with better heating and jacuzzi (reason actually why I booked this hotel). But staff said they r fully booked which was not true as I checked online and they still had bigger rooms available. When they did not manage to trick me also this way they asked for extra payment but at the end was kind enough to give me bigger room for free with “better” heating which actually was not working proper either. Breakfast was very poor choice and staff lady refused to make for me coffee and pointed to coffee machine telling me to do it myself, I don’t mind but my tour was cancelled last minute so desperately I tried to find other tour and was on phone calls and that’s why asked her to make coffee before breakfast closes after few minutes. Then I went to lobby terrace to take some photos and after sat in reception and after few minutes saw big concrete pieces falling on same terrace where I was few minutes ago, receptionist was not present and when he came I told him about falling concrete but he said why I worry they do repairs and they saw no one on terrace, I told him what if someone would go to terrace from lobby as I did while ago as no staff was in the lobby to warn about sudden repairs so at least they would lock the door and put warning sign so guests r not able to step on terrace suddenly as otherwise someone would definitely end up in hospital but receptionist was rude and said it’s scheduled repairs etc! There was no safety measures at all for falling concrete pieces of lobby terrace. Next day I moved out of this hotel and found so much better hotel for same price with amazing location, rooms and staff and just regretted every minute and dollar I wasted in this hotel with extremely rude and...
