İnci Cave Restaurant — Restaurant in Göreme

We dined here towards the end of our stay in Goreme. I will simply say this - we paid 1480TL, (€70) for three main courses, water and one glass of wine. We are used to tourist prices, but this is not even normal. You can find many more restaurants serving the same quality for much cheaper, which is why it is so underwhelming.

EDIT: The restaurant has replied to my review stating a few ”facts”. They have in fact got the wrong guest, I arrived in the evening with two others, paid for three MAIN COURSES and did not ask for gluten free bread. Please do not treat their reply as an accurate response, thank you.

The quality of the starter was disappointing, especially for a restaurant charging these prices. Cold bread and four very poor mezze dishes - when we asked for warmer bread, it was microwaved. This was a shame because it makes the bread soggy and not very appetising. The meals were acceptable, but once again, when a restaurant charges these sort of prices one expects a fantastic standard and taste which these meals were not. This restaurant needs to lower its prices and offer more value for money - until then there are so many more places in goreme worth a visit and...

We went to this place based on reviews, however we couldn’t be more disappointed. The food was average at best. However there menu prices are one of the most expensive in town.

The Testi Kebap, which is served in every restaurant in town is 80 TL, and is not even authentic. Testi Kebap takes about 3-4 hours to cook, now I understand that almost all of the restaurants in town are serving fake Testi Kebabs, as it takes so long to cook.

I read somewhere that they pre cook it for hours and re-heat it when you order it..... ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.

The meat was tough and chewy, this dish had been cooked in a traditional metal pot for 30 mins put into a clay pot and sent out. Like most restaurants in the area, THE DEAD GIVEAWAY IS HOW CLEAN THE POT IS AND IF IT COMES OUT IN A FLAMING MEATAL TRAY. It’s an illusion, that almost all tourists fall for. Absolutely terrible and disgusting.

This place is a joke, stay well away and research well before you eat out in Goreme, there is a lot of trickery in town. There are a few restaurants that are great, this CERTAINLY...

They think that everyone besides them are stupid. We asked if they have a bottle of Rakı and they said "Yes we buy from the supermarket and sell from the same price". So we bought 35 cl Rakı. At the end of the night, we saw that the price was two times expensiver than the supermarket price. We asked again and their answer was "We told you not the supermarket price. We said, we "add" 1 more supermarket price. So it's double price". Have you ever heard such a wordplay before? They really believe that we are whether deprived of thinking or some crazy math geeks. Besides, I saw the previous responses from here. Answering rudely to the comments in here, cannot solve your problems but changing this unblushing attitude could be!

You can write the same unsuitable responses, of course. However, it won't change the end result. This is not just a comment, but an experience. You should evaluate them as so. Even you disclaim it from here, people will experience the reality when they will come there. So better change...
