Beautiful newly upgraded hotel and location is perfect. No welcome water or juice. No porter service for our bags. Reception toilets- paper towel dispenser empty.
Breakfast was good with all in house made authentic foods-coffee machine was faulty at breakfast no milk for cappuccino’s.
Reception staff weren’t fluent in English -two young staff not experienced enough- breakfast staff didn’t understand any English. All staff had not uniform- didn’t know who was staff or guests. No assistance with restuarant advise and tours- no pamphlets etc. We were told to call our agent.
Surrounding garden areas had overgrown weeds and dead plants and grass coming out paving-the setting is perfect but just lacked the final touches. Reception area outside ashtrays full of cigarettes buds. Outside ground sign board surrounded with weeds.
Our rooms newly upgraded. No stool for the dresser. No baggage stools- our bags had to go onto the floor. No hangers in the cupboard. Water on first day then nothing. Safe was on the base of the cupboard very awkward for older guests. Globes blown in the room. One cushion person only. Kettle on the dresser with no wall plug- had to plug in the toilet. No fridge in room. No internal telephone system- had to walk to reception for service- reception staff had to come inform you at your room. No room service available. Headboard was loose. Extra toilet paper and hair dryer were stored ontop of the towel rail heater in our bathroom. Plenty of space under the basin cupboard to store. Our towels on the second day were just left on our bed - not placed in bathroom area.
All this hotel lacks is a good experienced manager. The building finishes are fantastic but are blemished because of no attention to detail. They were not ready for there start of there season.
Very disappointing because we paid 3/4 star...
Read moreWhat more can I say about Empire Cave Hotel other than what a truly lovely oasis in a beautiful part of Goreme city. I travelled Turkey as solo female, and arrived into Goreme by overnight bus. The very same day the ATM machine in town swallowed my bank card. I had no back up card and only a small amount of cash, and being the weekend there was no banks open. With half of my trip still left I was at a loss as to what to do, upset, and exhausted from travelling 9 hours overnight. Ahmed the manager was very very generous and trusting, shortly after knocking on my hotel room to check on me and also to bring me a large sum of cash to borrow. He even called the banks to try and get my card back. I honestly cannot say what I would have done with out his generosity and kindness. The accommodation itself was lovely, very spacious and clean, and perfect walking distance to everything. There is even a hotel cat named Zeus, a brittish shorthair to keep you company and affection. Thank you Empire...
Read moreI’d wish I could give 7 stars! We were very lucky to randomly meet one of the hotel owners while hopping on the local bus from Nevşehir to Göreme. He politely gave us his visit card and stepped back. The reviews were good so we’ve decided to stay. We’ve enjoyed the true hospitality of the place! The location is good and quiet. The facilities are new and all the details are professionally attended: the bed and the linen are great, there is an air conditioner and two heaters in the room, the design is wooden and feels warm too, there is a router in the room and the Internet is very fast, the breakfast buffet... don’t let me started :) all that with an early checkin after 2 nights on trains and buses from Tbilisi, Georgia. In two words, highly recommended.
