Ah, the joys of international travel—where you pay nearly $4,000 in advance for a hotel and get… absolutely nothing in return. That’s right, I’m a bright-eyed traveler from the U.S. who booked the fabled Europa House Hotel, dropping a casual $3,738.38 for a two-week stay in two rooms. Dreams of quaint European charm danced in my head—until reality smacked me in the face upon arrival.||Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the Europa House came with some exclusive features: no elevator, no air-conditioning (because who needs comfort?), and—wait for it—no record of my reservation. Poof. Gone. Like a magic trick, only much more expensive and significantly less entertaining.||Naturally, I tried to resolve the issue. Refund? Ha! Apology? Even funnier. The elusive owner graced me with a phone call but took zero responsibility, possibly because blaming the customer is such a strong business strategy. The on-site staff were kind, bless their souls, and basically shrugged and said, “Yeah, this happens. Our boss is kind of a mess.”||So I packed up my dignity and what remained of my patience, walked a whopping four minutes down the road, and checked into the Hilton London Paddington—also known as civilization. When I told them my Europa horror story, they looked genuinely heartbroken for me and offered a stay at a fair price (with actual amenities and confirmed bookings, wild concept).||Let’s just say the difference was night and day. The Hilton is in a gorgeous Victorian building, hooked right up to Paddington Station (hello Heathrow Express!), and surrounded by London’s best spots—Hyde Park, Oxford Street, Little Venice, and more. There's even a fitness center for those who like to suffer voluntarily, and plenty of food marts to help emotionally recover from booking disasters.||Moral of the story? Always double-check that your “hotel” has, you know, your actual reservation. And if a place looks like it might double as a setting for a tragic travel memoir, maybe just go with the Hilton. They have towels and a record of your...
Read moreBudget Hotel with a capital B, if you don't mind thin walls, leaky windows, and sometimes slightly questionable cleanliness this place is fine for you. The building itself is beautiful, situated right between Paddington Station and Hyde Park. Some rooms still have the high ceilings and the original coving, but they have been given the "landlord special" and been painted over - don't expect anything beautiful beyond compare! The original rooms have been divided with cheap, thin walls which leak sound, I was able to hear it every time the people in the room next to mine so much as rolled over in bed. The window also didn't latch shut in any way, and allowed the noise of the street to leak through all night. Considering Sussex Gardens is quite busy, that meant the noise was rather disturbing until the very wee hours of the night. The cleaner(s) clearly do all they can with the products provided, but I did find a live insect in my bed 😬. It wasn't a bedbug, some sort of earwig-looking thing, and had no friends hanging around. Still, it wasn't the most pleasant of finds. There were the usual stains upon the carpet, curtains, and wall as you expect in a budget hotel. The bathroom, however, was spotless and pleasant. It general, I would rate this place as passable. If you only want to use your hotel to sleep and store your things whilst you explore the city, this is the place for you. I would recommend, if you have heavy bags, calling the hotel to book and requesting a ground floor room. There is no lift, and whilst I asked for help with my luggage the concierge was very reluctant. He even gave up halfway, and left me to do the rest. The gent on the desk as I checked out, however,...
Read moreI m literally still in the room we booked right now but got to Leave a comment already.
We didnt expect the hotel to be THAT nice, given the Price and some of the Reviews but we are so Happy we booked a Family room for our 5 day Trip to London Here. The room is much bigger then expected the Personal ist super friendly and everything is very Clean. Of course the furnishing IS a Bit old....but for us this Just added to the "London Feeling".
The breakfast is nothing special but Provided everything for a good start to the day and wishes Like flakes for the Kids were fullfilled immediatly. Only downside is that there are No Table and chairs in the room and that it can get a Bit warm, but with the Fan they provide in the room It s Not a big Problem.
Even with a much used Street right in Front of our room we Had a very good nights sleep and didnt Hear anything of the other guests.
Also the Infrastructure around the hotel is great, beside of various Restaurants (but be careful, Go where many PPL are, some of them are like....ugh) there are a Lot of 24/7 Shops You can get daily Things to a decent Price.
With Paddington Station in Walking distanced It s the perfect start for everything related to Sightseeing. Also the Hyde Park is super Close by.
We Just can highly recommend this hotel, especially for families and Tourists that dont feel the need for fancy...
