The hotel does not have an elevator, and we were told that we are on the 1st floor. The receptionist's first floor turned out to be 3 flights of stairs past multiple bedrooms on each of these floors.
This hotel is directly on the street, and you can hear every street sound below. On flicking the bathroom light, the vent makes a loud sound that can be heard even after the light is off and the bathroom is shut. There was someone stomping across the roof at 10 pm. It was constant, loud, and annoying. We phoned the receptionist who proceeded to ask me which side of the hotel we are on (Luna or Simone). No one mentioned this on check-in, so I didn't know. After a fair bit of back and forth, where we told her the room number, followed by her ask if we were guests at the hotel and saying she couldn't help, if we couldn't say which side, she then asked the color of the key holder to the room. She ended the call with the promise of finding out who was above. The next morning, it was the same loud stomping all over again. That was so frustrating!
The hotel is not really close to Victoria. The rooms are on the smaller side. There is no AC, but there is a fan and heater. The room looked clean, but there were stray hairs all over the bedding, and the pillows smelled sweaty. The shower door does not close completely. There is a white towel in front of it as a mat.
There is a blow dryer, kettle, and facilities for tea/coffee. There is a closet with a safe...
Read moreWe spent the first week in May in London, England and had a wonderful time. The weather was sunny and warm except for the day of King Charles’ Coronation which was wet and rainy. We hadn’t planned to be there for the Coronation, but it just happened to fall within our weeks’ vacation. We had a wonderful place to stay, The Luna Simone Hotel at 47/49 Belgrave Road, London. It is a 10-minute walk from the Victoria tube/bus/train station as well as 10 minutes the other way from Pimlico tube station. The hotel is a 39-room establishment which is owned and run by twin brothers, Peter and Bernard, who have been doing this for over 50 years. They are aided by Bernard’s son, Mark, and friend, Tony. Rooms are exceptionally clean and standard European size, but with full beds, desk, wardrobe, and bathroom complete with shower. An English breakfast is served by these folks every day and their cheery, friendly manner makes this a great way to start your day. A bus stop is literally right outside the door and provides easy access to Victoria station, but the bus itself will also take you to Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Whitehall Street, Trafalgar Square, and the West End and back again. A wonderful location and certainly a place we would return to...
Read moreThe hotel is a nice, clean and functional hotel with a great breakfast. The street it’s on is surprisingly quiet, when I thought it wouldn’t be. The staff are exceptionally helpful. When my wife thought she had left her sunglasses behind, the reception guy couldn’t have been more helpful, going up to the room the times to look in different places and even offering to look at the CCTV, if my wife was wearing them when we left! We were near the top floor so it did take a little time for the hot water to reach it, as in my house, but when it got there it was a very nice shower. It’s owned by a pair of twin brothers who have owned it for many, many years who are extremely pleasant and kind and they served us a nice and generous breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble and my wife, who likes her coffee asked them if it was possible for a simple espresso, rather than the normal coffee. With a big smile he made it happen and he didnt charge us like every other hotel would. It’s not often you come across a nice simple hotel that is very clean and really well run by people who genuinely want to make sure you have a good stay. We would...
