This room was a total of $700 after the conversion fee, making it around $140/night for my 5 night stay. For the dollar amount, I absolutely did not get what I expected. I chose this hotel over “EasyHotel”, which was cheaper, for my selected dates because I wanted space and in the end I didn’t get space.
The hotel had an elevator, which is helpful instead of lugging large suitcases up a spiral staircase.
Some of the staff members were engaging. Some didn’t say hello or goodbye when we walked in or out for the day. We asked a member for a “Do Not Disturb” sign and he told us only a certain amount of rooms were able to have that door sign and they were all out. I’ve never heard that before, it sounds ridiculous to me. So everyday I had to go downstairs to tell the staff if I wanted room service or not, which I typically did not because I was staying for 5 nights and didn’t want to be disturbed everyday.
I heard noise from the patrons next door to me as well as above me. I called down to the front desk asking them to call the room above me and ask them to quiet down twice, both times were around 11pm. It sounded like the people above us were stomping as hard as they could on the floor and as soon as the front desk called, it miraculously stopped.
There was less then 1 foot in width from the end of the end to where the open closet began. We ended up flipping the chair onto the desk to give us space for our two suitcases to fit properly in the room while also giving us walking space.
The bathroom door did not shut at all, it doesn’t fit the frame properly. The shower floor is the entirety of the bathroom floor. Sure the drain is close to the shower wall but there’s no step up or down to enclose the shower and separate it from the rest of the floor. I couldn’t even think about shaving because once I saw the water end up at the toilet I couldn’t stand to imagine where loose hair could end up. The shower shampoo container dripped constantly. I was aware of the slippery surface when it dropped but this is a slip and fall hazard. The hand soap had a floral smell to it but I never felt that it actually cleaned my hands. I always smelled food, which was what I was trying to wash off, on my hands after properly scrubbing my hands clean. I understand that the hotel “goes green” with water pressure but I will stay in the shower for as long as I have to in order for my hair to feel clean. So in the end, does this business save on water by limiting us? Also, the toilet was always running.
The bedsheet had a large rip in the bottom right corner (looking at the bed) that had to have been seen and felt by the person who made the bed up. The comforter didn’t fit into the duvet cover properly so every night I had a duvet cover with no blanket at my head and at least 4 inches of cover on the floor, outside of the duvet cover.
Our room didn’t have AC. The first night we slept in our room we woke up sweating. Although it was 35 degrees outside, our in-room heater was switched off and we ended up sleeping with the window open. The next morning I asked the front desk for a portable fan and used that for the entirety of my trip. I’d never stay here in the summer if all they offer is a portable fan.
It was cold every morning in the basement coming down for breakfast. I don’t know if they forgot to put the heat on/close a door/window but we asked the attendant during our stay to close the door from the breakfast area to the kitchen.
Our door did not shut properly. When leaving or entering we’d have to forcefully push or pull the door closed. There was chipped paint all along the doorframe.
There is paint splatter on a lampshade above the bed. Some spots on the wall were dirty and others were patched up in spots by spackle and paint.
The WiFi went in and out every 20 minutes for our entire stay and was shut off the day we checked out before the checkout time!
I will not stay here again and will not recommend this to any of my friends visiting London. I did not get...

The bathroom was in need of some work, it is a small wet room, you are unable to shower without having the shower curtain wrapped around you. The toilet seat slips, the flush piece was broken, the tap turned on itself when trying to adjust the temperature and the ends of the shower taps were missing. What I can't describe is the smell : raw sewage is the best way to describe it. In the base of the shower is a large plug, you can see the mess beneath the plug hole cover, the cover itself looked as though it may have been replaced at some point but when you shower, the plug hole fills with water and what lurks beneath enters the floor of the shower, a couple of the tiles near the water level were broken too. You step up to the shower from the bedroom, you can see the damp on the base of the wall and door frame where the wood has expanded.
The fixed dressing table was approx 1" away from the wall, leaving a sharp edge.
We had 2 windows in our room but they were not very well secured. There was a chain on the windows that didn't serve a purpose, one of the windows, the chain just dropped off and the window flung open. The latches on the windows served little purpose and indeed was a security issue. We were based on the first floor, the roof of the bay window below pretty much could be accessed from the entire row of buildings.
The room was too hot, I mean really too hot, I attempted to turn the radiator down but found the thermostatic knob was broken, we had to open the windows to relax in the room but then had the issues of the windows banging open or shut.
The complimentary breakfast : I never expect much from a Continental Breakfast... and I wasn't disappointed... it wasn't much. I was told breakfast until 11am on reception, I did think that was a late finish, but it was actually 10am, I only found this out when I was locked in on the last day. However, I was able to make instant porridge, toast, 1/2 glass of juice and a glass with what I think was yogurt in it. That said, breakfast on day 2 was a different story : instant porridge, toast but the butter had obviously run out, we had a tub of "I cannot believe it's not butter" to share which was full of toast crumbs, I wouldn't have used this at home. I certainly believed it wasn't butter, I tried it and it was utterly disgusting. The jam jars were indistinguishable, no idea what flavour they were but I heard the waiter scraping it back into the jar behind the partition. If it wasn't for my medication, I wouldn't have had anything at all and waited to find a restaurant or cafe.
To end on a high... the staff were lovely and friendly.
Would I go back...??? Not at all, I would probably stay away from all...
Read moreThe worst hotel I've ever stayed at in the UK, and I travel a couple of nights a week for work. To say the room was dreadful is an understatement and in no way was it worth the £100 it cost me.
Let's start with the good. The reception is warm and welcoming and the location of the hotel is perfect for Westminster and Victoria. Most of the staff were welcoming, particularly the overnight guys.
Now the bad. The room was dirty and dusty and felt like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. When I walked in the room was freezing and felt damp, the windows were wide open and rain was coming in. Once I'd managed to force the windows closed (they were very stiff) I realised the only heat was a small, old plug-in oil radiator - it didn't do much to warm up the room. The room as a whole was small and on a slope, and the bed itself was also small - I'm less than 6 foot and my feet were hanging off the end. I'm also glad I wasn't sharing as it would have been a squeeze!
The bathroom was shockingly small - it felt like the toilet was in the shower and the leak from the light in the ceiling which caused a pool of water on the floor wasn't ideal. There was no shelf to put anything and the fan was very, very noisy. It took a few minutes to get the shower working, with just a dibble for quite a while before it suddenly sprung into action. It was far too hot to stand under - you could see the steam fill the room instantly (thankfully the bathroom door doesn't close properly) and the gauge to change the temperature didn't work. I also had a very tight hug from the shower curtain - I just hope the uncomfortable heat killed off any germs from when it undoubtedly hugged the previous guest. I had to give up.
I asked to borrow an iron, but unfortunately it didn't work - I didn't have time to ask for a replacement by this point. I left luggage at the hotel when I checked out and was pleased when I had to record my details. When I collected my luggage that night, I literally walked off the street, asked to collect and was given the choice of anything in the luggage room. No-one checked I had stayed there or was collecting the correct bag. I was just pleased mine was still there. I wouldn't leave anything there again.
Overall, very disappointing and I wish I'd read other reviews before staying. Thankfully I didn't have to try...
