Came here yesterday for something to eat and little did I realise I'd be eating a cow that would still be mooing! Hate to leave a negative review as I've been here in the past and had no problems but my experience here yesterday was that disappointing I'd rather not come here again Got served by a new waitress who I hadn't encountered on previous visits, she had trouble understanding my order I asked for a classic beef burger and chips- I wanted to make sure that she knew that the chips would come with the meal (I know this from having it before) I'm not sure if there were problems with the kitchen or if they had to get food in but the one lady popped out and the barmaid stayed behind the bar on her phone, only myself and about 3 regulars in the pub I waited patiently for my food and it came within 20 minutes after I ordered lukewarm the chips which already came salted were dry and didn't seem to be served fresh or piping hot as they usually are, the burger was an absolute mess I tore it apart to find red raw meat discovered it so undercooked I narrowly avoided food poisoning by the time I had finished dissecting it I must have had a sea of red on my plate none of it was up to my standards it was definitely not a burger more like raw mince flame throwed I was appalled to find it had been cooked like that and felt too embarrassed to ask for a new order and ate most of the chips picked at the salad and left The reason I didn't complain was the pub started to get busy with regulars coming in for a drink and I'm not the type to cause confrontation and hate leaving negative reviews but it bothered me that somebody had "served" that meat expecting me to be ok with eating what they'd class a burger which was clearly not thoroughly cooked, I was concerned that the barmaid would charge me again if I had to ask for a new order as she didn't know how to work the till or get up the right price for the meals on the menu when I first walked in and ordered Will not be returning after my disastrous visit yesterday I feel bad leaving this review as the previous times I've stopped by I've had no issues but can't let this slide sorry I would recommend people go to wetherspoons instead at least your food there will be cooked to how you like it and there's plenty of staff in their pubs if you need them to send the food back only saying this as the barmaid might not have cooked my meal but the lack of attention I had whilst I was in the pub and waiting to be served made it awkward for me to complain I'm not sure she would have understood my...
Read moreDisappointing Experience on Quiz Night – Poor Booking System and Customer Service
Unfortunately, our experience was soured by mismanagement and poor customer service.
We booked a table through the pub’s online system for the quiz on Wednesday. Upon arrival, we found a table reserved under the same name as ours. So we sat down, ordered food and drinks, and even paid to take part in the quiz.
Shortly after, a waitress informed us our table was booked via phone call and our online booking was not valid for the quiz. We were told we could move to another table - one that had also been reserved but whose guests were already 20 minutes late for their 19:30 booking.
The quiz began, and five questions in — now over 30 minutes past the original reservation time — the other party finally arrived. At this point, the waitress told us we had to vacate the table again. We asked to speak to the manager, who came out and, rather than helping resolve the situation, spoke to us quite abruptly and insisted that we had no right to be at the table because we didn’t have a valid booking.
We calmly explained that: We had booked online and no where did it mention that online bookings weren’t valid for the quiz. We were already participating in the quiz and had paid to do so. We were mid-meal and had drinks on the table. The other party arrived more than 30 minutes late.
Instead of offering a solution or even showing empathy, the manager doubled down and told us it was our fault for doing all of that “without a booking confirmation.” She stated the other guests had arrived in time for the quiz when in fact they had not and we reiterated this. She then walked off and never returned to explain what we were expected to do next. Left in limbo, we stayed at the table as no one came to move us, but the atmosphere had already been ruined by the stress and lack of communication.
If your online booking system isn’t monitored or honoured, it should either be fixed or removed altogether to avoid confusion. There should be a clear policy around how long reservations are held should be implemented and communicated (e.g. 15–20 minute grace period). Staff and management should handle booking mix-ups with more professionalism and empathy — especially when guests have already paid, ordered food, and are participating in an event. Communicating a resolution clearly is essential. Leaving guests unsure of whether they’re allowed to stay is...
Read more🚇 Pimlico 🍺 £5.50 Cruzcampo
The Constitution is located in the heart of Pimlico close to Tachbrook Street Market. The nearest Tube is Pimlico, Victoria Station is also close by.
This pub was built in 1842 and is built in an Italianate style which is synonymous with the area. The pub is named after the sailing ship HMS Constitution which only saw two years sea.
This is a traditionally decorated one bar pub that unusually has windows at the front and the back of the bar. The bar area is a good size and is set out in an ‘L’ shape. The servery is located on the left hand side and has a varnished solid wood counter. Around the walls are beautiful Georgian panels with brass framed mirrors, a few historical photos and a large screen TV. The seating is a mix of traditional tables and chairs, stools along a drinking ledge and comfy green leather buttoned banquettes. For the warmer months, there are a few benches at the front.
The beer selection was a choice of mainstream favourites plus a couple of cask ales. I opted for a pint of Cruzcampo, my pint was on point, price point was reasonable at £5.50. The food menu is classic pub grub, Fish & Chips costs £12.70.
I was working in the area, so popped in for an afterwork pint. Trade was steady with a local crowd gathered in a corner. A little later, a family arrived for food plus a group of American tourists exploring the area. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed with some background music and Sky Sports News on mute. The service was great, I was served by a lovely member of the team who was welcoming and courteous.
The @constitutionpimlico is everything you would want a traditional London pub to be. The decor and setting is superb, the atmosphere had that local pub feel and the beer and food are priced favourably. This boozer gets a big tick from me, it’s well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
