We booked the Hilton Garden Inn for a one-night stay because we were taking a family trip to Disneyland. (Our usual hotel was booked). We arrived to the hotel around 8:00AM to drop off our car and luggage before heading to the park. We were greeted by Connie, who would get 5 stars if we could rate her and only her! We told her it was our daughter's 1st birthday and she brought out a special birthday treat! She started off our day with Disney magic and we weren't even in the park yet.
Around noon, I see a missed call from the hotel (while we were on a ride) because there was an "issue with our reservation" that was already taken care of when we first checked-in that morning. I called them back and someone different answered and said that there's nothing to resolve. I told him about the missed call I JUST received and he said that the woman that left the message was looking at an old printout. I was slightly irritated to be on hold for so long while trying to celebrate my daughter's birthday just to be told there was no issue in the first place.
Around 4PM, we headed back to the hotel to check into our room. There was a swan/heart towel display on one of the beds and a plate of desserts. It was Valentine's Day so we thought maybe it was a fun complimentary addition. Our daughter wanted a snack and we weren't going to deny her a strawberry.
Around 6PM, I got ANOTHER call from the hotel when we were back at the park - they had said that the Valentine's set up "wasn't intended for us" and they asked if they could go into our room to "retrieve it." I told them we had already started eating some of the dessert and the front desk supervisor (2/14/2024 evening) asked WHICH ONES? He was still trying to charge us for whatever we ate when it wasn't our fault it was in the wrong room! He kept telling me, "But it wasn't intended for you." How am I supposed to know that? You told us what room to go to and that's where we went. Also, they wanted to take the dessert plate back and give it to the "intended guest" when it was already in someone else's room. That's disgusting and absolutely ridiculous.
We definitely won't be back.
Also, it's paid valet parking only and it's next to...
Read moreOverall, it was an amazing hotel!
Our primary purpose for staying here was Disneyland. Which is practically next door. So, with how close it was and other amenities, the location was perfect.
Our room was fantastic as well. It was spacious, very clean, and overall comfortable. The air conditioning in the room was absolutely superior to any other hotel I've stayed at. It was able to cool the room to our desired temp within minutes. My only complaint is it didn't have a constant fan option. ( I like the ambient noise). Especially because the very active highway we were staying across did get a little loud at times.
The hotel amenities itself was nice as well. The bar/restaurant served as a nice dinner when we arrived, and the cafe/convenience shop proved as our quick boost of caffeine for the morning before we walked to Disneyland.
The only complaint I have is the valet service. Valet is required when staying here. They don't have any other parking for your car. I didn't know this until I arrived. So I assumed with parking via valet being required, the normal price of Valet parking would already be included in the stay price. This is not the case. It's an additional charge. I'm not that bothered by the price because I would have spent that much, if not more, by parking at Disneyland. What does bother me is that none of the staff bothered to disclose any of this when dropped off my car, when I checked in, or at any point during the stay. So I was surprised when I saw valet parking on the final bill.
BUT, as of recently I'm overlooking the whole valet thing because this hotel takes part in an amazing "I forgot my stuff" service. Long story short, we forgot about $120 worth of items and didn't even notice they were gone until 20 days after we checked out. We used this service they provide, and after paying shipping, we got all of our items back just as we left them.
So in conclusion, this hotel is PERFECT for staying at if you have Disneyland on your itinerary. I 100% plan to stay here again on our next...
Read moreThe staff at this hotel all deserve 5 stars. They were all extremely polite and working very hard to meet guest's needs. The hotel recently opened so it was clean, very bright. The pool was not open yet but guests are able to use the pool of their sister hotel next door. I'd like to rank the hotel higher but the bathrooms need some improvement. They have sliding doors that have a gap on both ends which do not allow for privacy. The water pressure was poor as was the temperature. The family we traveled with said the same thing about their bathroom. On our last day at checkout, we were asked by the parking attendant when we'd be leaving, because our van was blocking the owner's office and she didn't like people blocking her view. At this point we were checked out, luggage packed, and getting coffee from the lobby café. The owner's Tesla was actually double-parked in a handicapped spot which made it difficult for us to pull forward and out. We were all shocked that we were being rushed out because the owner didn't like her view blocked! We felt bad the parking attendant is put in that position and were also dumbfounded on why the owner would have the office in front where guests are checking in and out. If it is such an issue, the office should be moved! Guests will constantly be parked there and it shouldn't be a burden on them to feel so rushed. It really left a bad impression on us during the final moments of an otherwise,...
