This is a five star bed and breakfast in every respect . . . almost. The property is absolutely gorgeous! Just two or three minutes walk from the cottage, and you're on the water! The sea breeze and scent of the water is palpable. And the spring flowers are also stunning. We were in the "geranium room" with the word "Jack" on the door. In this quaint suite the bedroom was huge and there was also a small adjoining sitting room with a TV and a gas fireplace. The bathroom was directly off the sitting room and was large and spacious. The entire suite was absolutely spotless and meticulously decorated. There were fine linens, sufficient pillows, and plenty of high quality towels and toiletries. While we would have preferred an in room tea kettle, there were beverages and snacks in the main house next door. So then why does this luxurious location only get four stars? Unfortunately, when selecting our room we were not aware of its undesirable location at the corner of the building, first floor. There is a huge bay window that runs a good portion of the exterior wall leaving us no choice but to close the blinds lest we remain on display for every guest to walk by and inadvertently spoil our privacy. The sitting room's windows suffer the same fate as does the bathroom. There is simply no where to "hide." We were also unable to open the windows and catch the cool sea breeze for the very same reason. And so we felt as though we were trapped in a dark dungeon. The property is highly recommended with the caveat that anything less than a second floor room will lack the privacy that should accompany luxury.

Went up to ME for my mom’s 60th birthday and stayed in the Forget-Me-Not room. The room itself was perfect, plenty of space and a mostly private deck that overlooked the ocean (photo attached). It’s in a perfect central location. The one con was that the room is next to a storage/trash room and the door was often left open a decent amount of the time, so we saw piles of trash when we went in/out of the room sometimes. Not a big deal, especially with the view we had from our room. The breakfast and the snacks were great, and the staff is just amazing. So kind and friendly. Monique was wonderful, there was one morning I didn’t like either breakfast option and she made me feel super comfortable asking for something else, didn’t make me feel like a pain or bothersome whatsoever. This is how she was the entirety of our stay. We would stay here again without a doubt the next time we’re in BH!

We recently stayed at the Bass Cottage Inn and it couldn’t have been more perfect. All of the staff was excellent, so helpful, and friendly. The property was stunning, it felt safe, and was so convenient, a super short walk to all the action in downtown Bar Harbor and a super short walk to the coast to catch an early morning sunrise. Even though it was close to the action it still felt like a private getaway. The breakfasts and tea time snacks were delicious! We were in room #8 the Rosemary room and it was so homey. Basically, this is the only place we’d want to stay at if we are ever able to visit the area again. Thank you for making our first b&b experience and first trip to Maine so memorable.

Once my (now) wife and I decided to head to Bar Harbor for our honeymoon in October, the Bass Cottage Inn very quickly caught our eyes. After seeing many positive reviews, we went ahead and booked a room to make sure we got a spot.

In short, we were definitely not disappointed! The assistant innkeeper, Susan, called to make sure we were ok when our flight was a little later than intended, and we pretty much felt spoiled from them on. She helped up take our bags to our room, which was at the very top of the house, after which we got settled in.

The breakfast the next morning (and every morning after that), was nothing short of amazing. The coffee was good (and we're quite picky about coffee), the juice was good, and oh my gosh the food was good. It's a wonder I didn't gain 20 pounds while we were there.

Beyond that, Jeff and Teri were helpful in every way possible, offering to help find things to do, tell us what food in the area was good, even helping us conquer our fear of eating a whole lobster! The snacks that constantly stocked the guest pantry were always amazing, and having coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available all the time was amazing (if a bit dangerous). There's even a closet full of movies to pick from!

The room itself was amazing. It was stocked with everything we could want, including a nice pitcher of fresh iced water. The bed was insanely comfortable, and the bathroom was quite nice with a cool sort of classic charm to it. Sure, the TV is a bit small, but who wants to watch TV when you have that amazing harbor out the window? They even randomly left a nice vase of flowers in our room while we were out one afternoon!

I could honestly ramble about the awesomeness of our stay at the Bass Cottage all day, but I won't waste any more of your time. Just go stay here and find out...

My husband I stayed here for my birthday week. I researched for days on where to stay in Bar Harbor and I knew I was not keen on staying in another 'corporate' style setting with hundreds of other people. To be quite honest, COVID has definitely changed the way we travel. I had my sights set on a very quaint bed and breakfast style venue and originally came across the Ullikana Inn.

When we could not get our preferred dates, we booked the Bass Cottage Inn instead. I had already fallen in love with Eddie after talking to him in length over the phone. His passion and kindness resonated with me and I knew this was going to be a trip to remember. Sure enough, our expectations were exceeded in every way. We stayed in the 'Verbena' room which was a pure heavenly retreat! Complete with a fireplace, sitting area, four poster bed and jacuzzi tub, this room made us feel like a king and queen! It is located in a very quiet part of the building and offered a very spacious area for us to feel extremely comfortable.

The first night of our stay, while searching for ice, I bumped into the owner, Eddie. We struck up a wonderful conversation in the kitchen and I knew that he was a very special man indeed. From that point on, over the next five days of our stay, we were home. The thousands of five star reviews online are a testament to the commitment and passion of one man. I do not need to go into detail about the amenities, because you can see that for yourself. What you need to know is that the Bass Cottage Inn exudes a style and presence that cannot easily be imitated. It is the people that make it what it is. The authenticity and humility of every single person who is employed here, cannot be dismissed. For this reason, it has touched a place in my heart and I cannot wait...

Our Dream Wedding Come True – Beyond Every Expectation!

We had the absolute privilege of hosting our wedding at The Bass Cottage Inn and Ullikana, and we truly can’t say enough about this incredible team and stunning location. From the moment we began planning with Kat to the final toast of the evening, every detail was handled with care, professionalism, and a genuine heart.

Kat, our wedding planner, was an absolute Superstar. Her calm presence, creative insight, and meticulous organization made the entire planning process feel effortless. She anticipated our needs before we even voiced them and made every decision feel easy and exciting.

Walker, the innkeeper, was absolutely fantastic and seemed to be everywhere at once, always ready to help or answer any and all questions. Brandon, the general manager, brought such warmth and hospitality to the entire experience. Their kindness, flexibility, and attention to detail made our stay absolutely unforgettable—not just for us, but for all of our guests as well.

And the FOOD—OMG. Chefs Stephen and Alo created meals and apps that were not just delicious, but memorable. Every bite was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented using only high-quality ingredients and it totally showed. Our guests are still raving about the food and hand made drinks!

The entire team here went above and beyond at every single turn—adapting gracefully to last-minute changes, keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes, and making us feel so genuinely cared for throughout our stay.

If you're looking for a venue where your wedding will be handled with heart, skill, and true dedication, look no further. We are endlessly grateful to The Bass Cottage and Ullikana for making our wedding not only flawless, but...
