We chose Bar Harbor for our 20th anniversary getaway hoping for cooler weather and relaxation. We had never stayed at a B&B, but chose The Yellow House based on reviews, and we are SO glad we did! It is a quick walk to Main Street (one block), but feels secluded. The house looks like a painting with the charm and gorgeous landscaping. Fresh-cut flowers from the property made for simple yet elegant decorations on the porch and indoors. The room (Belmont) was spacious and the bed and bedding was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast was simple but delicious - I even had to buy the same locally made jams to bring home! The butler's pantry and coffee were very much appreciated. Watercolor painting with Sara was so much fun despite our lack of experience and our paintings will be framed once we get home! Happy hour was very enjoyable. We had a great time talking to other guests as well. We made use of the firepit in the yard each night. The backpacks and blankets they had to borrow made our trips to Acadia National Park and watching sunsets so much easier - and blankets were a lifesaver on top of Cadillac Mountain! At our last dinner in Bar Harbor, we both decided that the favorite part of our trip was just relaxing on the rocking chairs on the big porch! I firmly believe that one of the main reasons our trip was so amazing was the Inn manager, Sara. She was so friendly and kind, was always smiling, gave great suggestions, was super encouraging while painting, and was just enjoyable to be around. I was actually super excited to meet her after my phone conversation with her when I booked her stay. You will not be disappointed with your stay at The...
Read moreThis review is long overdue, but so incredibly well deserved. Over the past six months since our visit, my husband and I have continued to talk about what an exceptional stay we had at the Yellow House Inn. We stayed mid-July for 3 nights to celebrate a milestone birthday.
The service all around was impeccable - from the communication before we arrived, a thoughtful gift in our room, and throughout the stay. All of the amenities and touches have been thoughtfully curated and considered. It’s truly one of the best properties we’ve stayed at.
The inn itself is beautiful with its old charm, and tastefully decorated. The landscaping and grounds are beautiful and lively. The porch is expansive and perfect any time of day to take in a moment. It’s tucked away enough to be quietly and peaceful, yet also only steps away from heart of downtown.
Some favorite touches included the pantry with access to snacks and drinks, the daily happy hour complete with blueberry margaritas, the blankets and backpacks available for use, and a great breakfast with options every morning. We stayed in Jack’s Room (on the 1st floor) which was well appointed, and enjoyed its own porch seating area.
We continue to remember our time at the Yellow House Inn fondly, and will certainly stay again in a heartbeat should we be visiting BH. Highly recommend this serene,...

Patty greeted us warmly explaining where and how everything worked...we spent quite a bit of time chatting as if we knew each other for a long time. Sara is a beautiful soul...sharing her artistic gifts with guests, providing helpful tips of where to eat, hike, shop.|We stayed in Jack's Room, first floor right as you enter the inn. Loved having our own private little area on the porch, and even though we were right by the entrance, never once did we hear anyone else. |Breakfast was perfect before heading out for the day...overnight oats...scones (to die for), fruit, juices and coffee. Loved the snacks and coffee available 24/7. The best part was happy hour on the porch with wine, blueberry margaritas, and other assorted beverages. We really hated to leave when it was time to go and can't wait to get back. |Perfect location in town yet tucked away so its very quiet...and you don't have to worry about parking in town because you park right at the inn and in 2 minutes are in the center of activity.|Bst place...
