I booked a stay there upon the reviews that it was a wonderful bed and breakfast with all the wonderful things said about Mark and Vicki. Trip Advisor take note there are new owners. I arrived with all the expectation of a warm welcome. Only to be met by a tiny little Chinese lady that could not speak ANY English and had to communicate thru a translation phone app. After 15 minutes wondering who this was. I thought she was lost. No other person on the property. So there is the welcome . No one else. Get to a cabin at 5pm with the heat off. Having lived in big bear the wall heater would take hours to heat at 30 degrees. I finally speak with a man on the phone. Why is the room not warm. No wood , you have to buy at $2 a piece. I had a service dog. Which I communicated before the visit. He was upset with that. That this man on the phone said my expectations exceeded what they offer on booking.com. OH REALLY I said getting heated. Basically buying from booking.com you will get lees service. I said you are a bed and breakfast. He stated no it does not say that on booking.com. Oh yes it does. He said we don't offer that in the cabins . I asked if he was on the property. He said no . I said where are Mark and Vicky? No, Chinese people bought this and he said I run it. There you go. Im pissed and they have this poor little women with no COAT running around running the place. That's beyond cruel. He dismissed he she's just a cleaning lady. Shall I say exploiting this woman. I went to Best Western. Stay away! Only thing I can say is...
Read moreAbsolute worst! We have stayed in many mountain homes and have never experienced anything like that unit. The unit had no ac which is common for mountain homes, but usually a breeze is available through the windows. Not so here. When we arrived on July 6th it was 90 degrees in the unit. Most of the windows would not open. Several are the stained glass type and you could not touch those with your hand without burning your fingers. They had 3 cheap box fans which had absolutely no effect in reducing the heat or creating a breeze through the unit. We could not stay on the main level or the top floor. We stood in the basement and called VRBO. She said there was nothing she could do, no refund, no partial refund, no cleaning fee refund, no refund for an early check out, no swapping the unit for another. We were told that we should have expected the unit in that condition, to use the box fans, and open the 2 doors. There was no way to sleep in this unit much less heat a stove to cook or use the clothes dryer. The heat or maybe just the unit in general made the old dirty carpet smell even worse. This Adler’s Nest would get a negative star if one existed. It was uninhabitable. Adler’s Nest kept the entire amount of our booking $1,660 and we stood in the basement in 15 minutes. We found another place to stay down the street on our own, very nice and comfortable,. We ended up paying double for our trip. Sorry that Big Bear has such people owning property in the community, because the area is...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed 2 nights for a quick snowboard trip. We had to cancel our initial reservation because it was during an unusual heavy snow fall and all public roads, access to the mountain was closed for over a week. Kim was beyond accommodating and his prompt communication truly made me feel at ease with the entire process. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a very nice, friendly Chinese lady who communicated via translator. She was so sweet and accommodating. The large cabin is a true vintage building filled with charm and intriguing “artifacts”. We spent an evening in the shared, main living area listening to oldies on a cassette player. Amazing. Although the house was a shared space we did not feel any lack of privacy. Our bedroom was also filled with mountain charm decor. Loved it. The room was cozy yet we had ample space to dry our snowboarding gear by the electric fireplace. Very convenient. The closet, mini fridge, and other amenities were added bonus. Most importantly we felt the room was clean. Although the fixtures and house itself is very rustic we appreciated having very clean linens, towels, and bathroom. It made for a very comfortable stay. The property is an older one and likely very historic. Staying in an actual log cabin is quite special. Having expectations of a modern resort is unrealistic. We frequent Big Bear and in future the Eagles Nest will be our first choice in...
