Goodnes, where to start. The pictures are nice and when you arrive, sure it looks nice on the outside, but the inside the room, sheesh. So you walk in and it looks like it was recently remodeled but what's the point of a remodel if you can't upkeep or maintain a level of cleanliness to match the beautiful remodel? The lobby looked beautiful but past that, the carpet keading to the room was filthy. At least clean it once a week or at least twice a month.
The room, the carpet matches the hallway carpet and needs some work. Don't walk on it barefoot, you might catch something. The room itself didn't have any odors and otherwise looked pretty decent. But when i went to pull back the sheets, there in the middle was a long black hair in the middle of yellowed sheets. As i peeled back the covers saw more yellow stains and the sheets were creased as if someone had slept there and then i was given the keys. The hair is what got me because that with the yellowed sheets showed me that housekeeping isn't changing sheets or doing their job properly. I called the front desk and while they had me strip my own bed and had to pick up the items at the front desk, who only mentioned they'd get housekeeping to come in in the morning. When i came back from work they were truly fresh linens unlike what i got at check in.
Since this was an extended stay paid by my company, i bought food to store in the fridge. Couple of drinks, cheese, and ham. I set it in the fridge and i noticed the refrigerator had a buildup of ice which isnt a good sign to begin with. There are no knobs to control the temperature, as it seemed to be almost room temperature but I held out hope seeing the block of ice in the door. Unfortunately, the block of ice was misleading and none of my food was cold in the morning. Mentioned it to the frobt desk who said they'd notify maintenance. Maintenance said it was my fault instead of looking to solve the issue. I would accept the outcome except that my coworker staying in a room 2 floors up, also had the same issue. He said he only put in a soda but it was still lukewarm the next day.
Don't get me started on breakfast. Potatoes and eggs is every day deal plus they're undercooked. The breakfast lady tries her best but someone should mention temperature stuff to them.
Front desk wasnt there so much in the mornings. I would see people waiting 5 to 10 minutes waiting for someone but no response. I did hear a baby in the back room so if thats the case, good on management for working with someone but at least post up a sign or come up with a different solution when there's a lapse. 530 to 7 is usually busy in hotels. Get a sceond person or have your first shift...
Read moreTraveled for a college volleyball tournament. My daughter’s team and several parents stayed here. My daughter was there the night before me and told me her room was not clean, there was hair in the tub from a previous guest and the mattresses and mattress pads weren’t clean when she checked for bed bugs.
Check was smooth. My room had debris on the carpet, trash still on the floor under the desk and in the bathroom. Pretty sure it was not vacuumed, swept or mopped. Black hair on the white bathroom counter from previous guest. Checked for bed bugs…no bugs, but there was a hair on the “clean” sheets under the pillows. The amount of hair and debris on the box spring by the headboard was repulsive. Do they ever vacuum or wash the bed skirt? The mattress pad needed washed. I was getting ready to contact the front desk when I got a message asking how my room was. I responded back about the cleanliness and the response was...”Sorry to hear that” with nothing further. There were 2 beds in my room because my other daughter could not join me as expected, fortunately the other bed sheets appeared cleaner. Another parent also mentioned her room was not clean.
They do not have digital keys at this location and I forgot my key card in my room. Upon returning after dinner, I requested a key at the desk. The man asked my room number and gave me a key. He never asked my last name or for identification. Terrible security for a single woman staying by herself, not to mention, what if I accidentally gave the wrong room number and walked in on a different guest. Another mom did the same thing and she also was not asked for identification.
The walls were pretty soundproof but the floor/ceiling was not. The herd of elephants above me started stomping around at 6:00am. If you are a light sleeper, get a room in the top floor.
Breakfast was typical except they didn’t keep up with the coffee.
Not impressed with this Hampton Inn location, and I stay at them pretty often. Sadly, they were the sponsor for the tournament we were playing in…they should spend the money on housekeeping and staff...
Read morePros: This hotel was very conveniently located. Easy access to the Interstate and Hey 50. The rooms are spacious and well laid out. The breakfast has plenty of options and has variety you'd like carbs, protein, or fruit. The decor is nice.
Cons: They overbooked for the night and despite our having booked two months previously for the exact room we needed (2 queen suite with sofa bed as a family of 5) they gave our room to someone else who had arrived before us.
We were told we had no guarantees because we booked through a third party site (2 months earlier, and our money had been taken outand secured by site days prior) that our room selection wasn't guaranteed. We were also told by the young lady that she couldn't actually see what room I'd chosen.
I showed her my email from March 7 confirming my choice and my reservation and over and over she just shrugged and said it wasn't guaranteed.
She also just kept saying she couldn't so anything about it.
As a larger family, booking hotels that can accommodate us is quite a task.
The next day they were able to get us into a 2 queen suite and graciously gave us gift cards to a local attraction.
Our new room, while fitting our needs size wise, was not as clean, or as nice as the king that we left.
The refrigerator was broken ( would not stay shut. We used the housekeeping sticker to keep it sealed ashut). Our key card reader was missing it's cover. The carpets looked like previous customers had had a really good time, and the bathroom door was not the correct size. It was too long and wouldn't not properly open as it got stuck on the floor.
We would likely try staying at another Hampton Inn again simply because the room size and layout works for our family and because we did get some attempt at follow up. Though it fell short.
We do believe they should change their policy of overbooking and giving away rooms that have been booked by third party sites. It is not fair to those that have done the legwork of searching out what they need and have...
