This was my first time here! It's apparently very popular and I'm guessing because of its convenient location right off the interstate. I met an old friend here for lunch.
They have a bar, gift shop and then plenty of seating for dining. This is the perfect spot to bring a group of friends to watch a game. Their menu is not huge but it had a good amount of selections including their infamous brats. The bathrooms were clean. The entire place has an odor, though. It's like the smell of an older building. It's not totally off putting but you can easily smell it in the air. I HATE that smell.
Our server was wonderful. She had a friendly demeanor, she was efficient and helpful. We both decided to get the Polish-Wurst as our server recommended. This thing was ridiculously good (see attached picture). It was cooked just right. The grilled onions were heaven. I don't know if I've ever had a brat that tastes better than that one. French fries were also outstanding. Crispy, flavorful, crunchy, yummy! They also give you a small cup of cole slaw and a pickle. The cole slaw was delicious as well. It was similar to KFC with a sweet, tangy taste. I loved everything I ate! I also REALLY appreciate the fact that they had other diet soda options instead of just diet coke. I got a diet 7-Up.
The prices are reasonable. Both brats totaled just over $40 bucks which isn't bad.
I would definitely come back here for a different brat. The staff was kind, we were served fast and the food was delicious. The only reason for removing a star is that smell. Otherwise, I...
Read moreAn interesting spot which makes it a place to stop and try at least once! The outside doesn't look like much, but the inside is huge, with tons of seating on two floors. There is huge bar with lots of on-tap options, along with a full bar. Multiple screens make this a good spot to watch a game, plus there is video gambling, pinball and other games. The Brat Stop offers live music, trivia night, moonshine tastings, volleyball, golf and pinball leagues, cheese shop, banquet hall, take out menu and a variety of events that serve and benefit the community.
While this is not a fancy establishment by any stretch, in fact it's a bit outdated, it is a fun atmosphere and family friendly. We stopped in on a Sunday night, and it was not busy at all. We opted to sit at the bar, and while it took a minute to be noticed, when we were the service was good. My husband and I both ordered the "Smoooookin'" brat. He had his with tots and coleslaw and I ordered fries and sauerkraut. The brats were very good, with a nice char, both the tots and fries were hot and crispy, the coleslaw had a great consistency and good flavor, and the saurekraut was truly the best I've ever had. When I asked our server about it, commenting that it didn't taste like it came out of a jar, she told me that the restaurant orders their kraut but finishes it in house. This is most likely why it was crisp and not soggy and tangy but not sour.
If you're passing through, The Brat Stop is a conveniently easy-on/easy-off place to grab a beer and a brat. It's...
Read moreSo, the uncle and I went out for lunch yesterday at The Brat Stop in Pleasant Prairie.
I met the most amazing 5 year old. His name is Cooper. He's autistic. I wish I would have gotten a pic with him.
He was there with his mom and Grandmother. Mom looked stressed. Like she was just at the end for the day. It was 2:00pm.
I took to him like no other. He and I were chatting and laughing and acting like kids. Mom wasn't super impressed and kinda got upset with me at first. I think she thought he was acting out. And she was already stressed.
I thought he deserved some ice cream, as he was being such an amazing kid. As the waitress delivered the surprise I watched the stress almost dissolve from mom's face. The kid was in love. He had his own SUNDAE. The smile on his face was priceless.
I went on to the tubes and learned how to sign "you're awesome" because he showed mom that he loved his sundae by sign. Mom smiled truly for the first time.
Finally I went over by Mom to ensure her that she was amazing. Cooper was being a 5 year old. You could see that she was was uber-sensative due to his diagnosis. Again, she was stressed. Honestly, if she wouldn't have told me, I wouldn't have known he was autistic.
Relax moms. Autistic children are not a burden to the public. We see you. We're starting to get it...take deep breaths. It's not as bad as you perceive.
Cooper, wherever you are, keep on laughing...keep on smiling. Your smile is electric.
PS. The good was great. The service staff...
