Alright, I don't tend to review many things, but this place in particular I feel merits a review. I'll preface this by saying "I hope to God there was just a mix up or they were having an off day" - because it's entirely possible. I don't otherwise know how a pizza place with this food normally could survive in Buffalo of all places.
The pizza itself, it was... It wasn't "inedible", but I wholeheartedly believe a frozen pizza would have been better. It had a weird smell, almost like cattle grain. The flavor was not good, it tasted 'off'. I'm wondering if maybe the dough went bad? I'm not particularly picky about pizza and I've never been to a pizza place in the area that I would actually say the pizza is "not good", so this was surprising to me. They did use good/proper pepperoni so that was nice though.
The wings were the real shame. I don't know if maybe they got the order wrong / misheard, but... I've never seen a worse medium wing outside of Buffalo, let alone in the home of the Buffalo Wing. Typically, you'd expect the scale to go None (bare wing), Mild (mostly butter, very faint hot sauce, not spicy at all but a bit of flavor), Medium (some spice to the sauce, but not unbearable), and Hot (nearly straight hot sauce, very spicy). Well, the medium was literally dry and without flavor. No sauce in the foil at the bottom, either. I had to verify with my partner (who will not eat most place's Mild wings because "they're too spicy") if they actually added sauce. They said they have a hint of spice, they think. They ate half of the batch with no issue, that's how un-flavored these were. The garlic parm were somewhat skimped on flavoring too, but not nearly to the extent of the medium.
The one thing I will say is, the staff all seemed very friendly and attentive when we came for pickup and I do not think in any way that they meant to make things badly. We like to try new pizza places in the city and there are often gift certificates sold at a slight discount by local restaurants, that we buy and use for various places. As we came from about 50 minutes away we did not / weren't looking to ask them to fix it. However, I do feel that if we were close enough for this to be reasonable, they mostly likely would have fixed it.
All in all, it would not be something we would do again, even with the "half price" gift certificates. While we appreciate their efforts, it simply was very...
Read moreI have on and off been a customer of Casa for 30 years and today was the worst experience I have had with them. I ordered a pizza at 2:15pm (Half Pepperoni/Half Mushroom) and they said it would be 25 min. I was on the 5 mins away went to the store down the street for at the most 10 mins and came to pick up the pie. I peeked at the pie and the mushroom side looked fine. The pie wasn't hot but I didn't consider why. The why was it was an old pie made of two separate halves and but together. Looking at the photos, you can tell by the cheese that this is comprised of two separate pies possible from the lunch service. It wasn't even luke warm and they pulled the pie from the warmer when I arrived.
Why would it be in the warmer if I just ordered the pizza 15 mins ago? The fact that it was luke warm had me at a lost. In the past (even when they were on Elmwood) they were one of the best shops in town. I know places now days love to take short cuts including their competition but why do this when all you have to do is "Do the Right Thing". When on Elmwood they had a dynamite display of pies during lunch and throughout the afternoon and now it feels like they just simply do not care as much as they did.
I've paid above average prices when I sat in and you know what... I didn't mind as long as the food was good and the expeerience was nice. Look at the photos along side this review and tell me these came from ONE pie and not two. The pizza was tough and I am speaking on the half of an elderly woman I care for. I know they can do better but the question is will they? The moment you look under a pie and it's blackened it one of two things. Either a dirty oven OR they warmed that pie (pies? slices?) a...
Read moreI placed an order using the Slice app as per your website. The food was on time and delicious however the sheet pizza came as only cheese and was missing the pepperoni. I reached back out to Slice via their chat. The person was short and not helpful, making me feel that the issue is my problem versus offering a solution. I have the chat transcript attached. I just thought the management of Casa should be aware of how your partner is speaking to your customer:
