The first time I went to Lucky Day, I went for a birthday. We rented out the corner lounge space for approximately 20 people. I was very impressed by the ambiance. When I was standing at the bar, I saw pasta that someone was eating and I knew that I had to come back to try dinner here. I love seafood - so I do not say this lightly - this is the best shrimp cocktail I have ever had. They were big, clean, and tasty. Both sauces they were paired with the cocktail sauce, and a cream based sauce were so tasty. I do wish I got a bigger piece of lemon with it though. The oysters were good, again I wish the slice of lemon was bigger. The mignonette sauce was good but I wish I had cocktail sauce with it. I did order the shrimp and the oysters at the same time but the oysters were served way quicker than the shrimp so unfortunately I couldn't use the cocktail sauce from the shrimp because I had eaten the oysters already! My friend ordered the Mac and cheese and the burger. He loved both! The Mac and cheese had Goldfish crumbles on top which I tried and the pairing was tasty! My friend ordered two drinks as well. A cocktail and a glass of wine, he loved both. This is a place that I will keep returning to. The pictures for Instagram are perfect. The lighting, the atmosphere and everything paired together is such a unique experience. The staff were nice, polite, and accommodating. The host specifically had an extremely bubbly personality and you feel special from the second you walk in the door. We made a same day reservation and were seated right away. The band that played, a keyboard, an electric guitar, and drums I felt was just right to set the tone and the mood. The drummer did not take a smile off of his face for a single second! He looked happy to be there and it was nice to witness. Great...
Read moreThe first time I went here was with my girlfriend; we had an amazing dinner, the atmosphere and the waitress were fantastic. However it's the second and third time that lead to my refusal to return.
Several months ago a friend of mine, who's a whiskey nut, was in from out of town and I thought he would have a good time at this bar. Everything was fine until by mistake I pushed the glass cleaner at the bar which sprayed water into the air. At that point, embarrassed, I tried to apologize and give the bartender a tip as an apology. She has walked into the area between the bar kitchen and dining areas. Several employees then decided to scream in my face and tell me I was out of line, couldn't go back there, and threw insults. It was at this point that someone came out of the kitchen and used a racial epithet towards the girl I was there with. It was at THIS point it became nearly a fist fight, which I take responsibility for. We left and haven't been back for several months.
Just tonight my friend and I went in to get a drink just by ourselves, going to put the past behind us and wipe the slate clean. However the bartender, instead of admitting the wrong that one of his colleagues had done it trying to have a clean start, refused service and when told the reason for last time's altercation, said "well maybe you deserved it. Neither of you are getting served here." It's on this basis that I refuse to ever give another dollar to this place. No one deserves racism thrown at them. Nobody deserves petulant arrogance. And no one should have to pay for the mistakes of others. It's obvious that this establishment is run by snobs or at least employees them. It also seems that everyone there is complacent in the disgrace of...
Read moreReally nice atmosphere! Dim lighting, space between tables, privacy curtains between tables in the brick cove, also seating on the upper level as well. Brick columns with candlelight. Candle light on the tables. Huge selection of whiskey, all the way up to the ceiling. This review is based on the following food. Beer cheese soup, brussel sprout appetizer, smoked carrot appetizer, brisket ravioli, and lemon tart dessert. My friend got the lobster tail and said it was delicious. We both had the smoked carrots which were decent ,although a couple of the carrots were hard. They were not the most flavorful and they were not browned. We were comparing them to the carrots at the billy club, which are hard to beat. The brussel sprouts were good, nice flavor and browned crispy. The beer cheese soup was super flavorful, nice creamy texture, although the flavor was overpowered by the beer. The croutons on the top were really good, there were large chunks of bacon in the soup which were very fatty and chewy. The brisket ravioli fell very short. Just bland. The lemon tart was the most delicious lemon tart I've ever had. Very flavorful, the texture was so silky and creamy. Came with fresh whipped cream and a pecan crust which had a slight coconut flavor. Highly recommend trying that. Although I did get a second lemon tart to go, and that one was not as good as the one I had at dinner, the crust was a little overcooked which made it kinda bitter. I would definitely come back just for the lemon tart and the nice atmosphere. Service was great also. They have live music Thursday through Saturday. It's right downtown so parking could be a nightmare, there is a lot right next to it that you would have to pay...
