This review gives a detailed and balanced perspective on the Gulfview Hotel, highlighting both its strengths and areas that might need consideration.||Hurricanes have consequences. The Gulfview Hotel is just that a View of the Gulf. Sure I have read some of the OTHER reviews from people who clearly don’t travel enough. They say they smell mold.. LET ME BE CLEAR that is the smell of New Paint and NEW Carpet in the hallways and in the rooms. This hotel made out well for going through not 1 but 2 weather disasters as this hotel has been completely renovated. Overall, this practical review is to help travelers with realistic expectations.|While the hotel may have a few imperfections, the renovations and location offer a solid experience, especially for those who appreciate the improvements and the amenities available. The Gulfview Hotel is a GREAT choice for guests looking to enjoy the area, but those expecting a completely pristine or untouched experience may need to adjust their expectations. Just sit back and watch the sunsets or the numerous numbers of dolphins that swim right by.||Room suggestion: any room with a balcony that faces the gulf. Our room also had a small frig and well stocked kitchenette for small cooking. ||I Would say this hotel is worth it for the price and location. 4 ½ stars. Read moreThis place by far was the WORST place to stay. The lobby and pool was the nicest thing of the whole place. Me and my fiance stayed there last night for our anniversary and was not pleased at all. BEFORE we brought our stuff up we checked the room out first... When I called the hotel and spoke with someone and booked it, I requested a room with full gulf view and a balcanoy. I indeed got that. The balcony was on the side of our room about 30 feet from the parking garage to the hotel next door not on the gulf side which is NOT were the guy stated it was. We were on the 3rd floor. Upon getting off the elevator the carpets were DIRTY, IT HAD SMELLED LIKE SOMEONE HAD DIED IN THERE ALONG WITH MARAJUANA SMELL AND A MOLDY MUSTY SMELL..We walked into the room and our fridge didn't even work, the room had a musty mildew smell, the beds were OLD with springs coming up. The view was nice. But couldn't open the windows. Then the balcony up against the parking garage was not cool. So we went back down and explained that this is NOT what I was supposed to get and that I wasn't happy. I did check with other hotels on the beach even ones that were higher priced and everything was booked. So because everything was already packed and had a sitter for the kids we just decided to leave it alone until in the morning. The clerk said that there was NOTHING HE COULD DO. I sprayed Lysol put our stuff in the room and we went to Shepard's until we were completely EXHUSTED. Our fridge still wasn't cold by the time we left to go out, there was rust all over the fridge and the 2 unsafe burners that were there Which looked like it was just gotten out of a scrap yard. So we enjoyed our night at Shepard's came back at 2:00 am and tried to go to bed. My fiance and I got up and went down stairs to what we were told was supposed to have breakfast and again there was NOTHING.... So we went back up to our room to grab our stuff I went to wash my face and there happened to be a sign hanging up on the towel rack that stated "trying to save water cost so if you need a towel take it and throw it on the floor otherwise leave them up so they could be recycled." I about threw up. The very next thing that ran threw our head was do they do that with the bed sheets to? Which probaly explains why both of us woke up with bug bites and very itchy And Maybe thats why the room had a funny smell. There wasn't even a fire extinguisher in our room. We grabbed our stuff and went to leave I explained all the problems above again and that lady seemed not to care in the least bit.. So needless to say our anniversary was RUINED.. I will also be calling the bank back tomorrow to have the charges reversed back to my card. For $200 plus a night it was truly a horrible experience and wouldn't wish this on my worst nightmare. Just WRONG AND...
