Good morning everybody here on our honeymoon second day enjoying the morning view
Tracey H.Tracey H.
Thank you Gulfview, for being a much more affordable alternative to the 'place next door' where we stayed last year. You cannot beat the hospitality. Joyce and Kay are fantastic and we hope to see them every year from now on. So is the maintenance guy, he is awesome and always had a 'good morning' for us and a smile. As other reviewers have stated, the Gulfview is not new. The rooms are on the small side, and the pool area is not lavish. The carpet is old, and always seems damp. But you're also not paying outlandish prices - get it? If you want luxury, you'll have to pay for it elsewhere. We found the location and beach to be perfect, with very soft sand. We saw dolphins nearly every day, casually surfacing on their way in or out of the channel. The proximity of shops and restaurants to walk to is excellent. Heck, get an all-day bus/trolley pass for $5 and go on down to Madeira Beach for dinner or shopping if you wish. The beds and pillows were super-comfortable. At this time, there is no daily room cleaning unless you ask. That worked out okay, you can place the trash outside your door and it gets whisked away quickly. If you need fresh towels, the desk is happy to provide. Same with towels for the pool. You sign them out at the desk, then return them to the handy hamper when you come back in. One major thing to be aware of is that you will not have dependable wi-fi, at all. I would know, I'm one of those people that don't pay for unlimited data and my phone warned me four days in that I was nearly OUT of data. I spoke to the desk, and it is on the list for improvement. I would require that to have been taken care of before I'd stay again. Also, the pool was not heated, not sure if that was a maintenance issue or what. I neglected to ask, so I can't complain. Maybe no one told them. Additionally, the Friday/Saturday night noise from next door will be DEAFENING. If you want to get to sleep before 1am, you'll need to ask for a room that does not face Shepard's. Your balcony may face a parking deck, but that may turn out to be a tradeoff you're willing to accept. In closing, if your expectations are realistic and you've read reviews so that you know what to expect, you'll see that you CAN save money by staying at the Gulfview. I know we will do so again. :)

We traveled all the way from NY to our hotel. When we arrived we brought our luggage in and left for dinner and a night out. Around 12 After arriving back at our room I went to use the bathroom and turned the light on to find multiple roaches scattering across the floor, sink and side of the bath tub. I ran out of the bathroom to grab my boyfriend to catch one in a bottle. After further investigation we found some under the kitchenette in the cabinet. We took pictures and We caught 3 for proof and called orbitz who we booked the room through. They tried to call the front desk for me so that they can explain my situation to the hotel and request from them a refund in my behalf. By time a hotel worker was present it was 3:30am and we already removed all of our belongings and packed then back in the car. Not even 7 hours into being there. We couldn't find a front desk worker for about 3 hours. When one finally arrived she was helpful and didnt ask questions or for proof (even though I had the bottle capped off with 3 roaches, crawling around in my hand. And I was obviously distressed.) But I maintained my composure to ensure I was able to be refunded because arguing wasnt going to get us no where. She kindly refunded us only 4 of the 5 days we were staying. Apparently they needed the managers approval before they refund the first nights stay. Probably for quality purposes. Orbitz told us our money will be refunding into the account in 7 business days. Luckily we come prepared and were able to book with another hotel for our remaining 4 days in clearwater. We had no choice but to sleep in the parking lot in our car because all of the remaining hotels in the area have a cut off for check in time at 3am. We were out of luck. I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS HOTEL

This review gives a detailed and balanced perspective on the Gulfview Hotel, highlighting both its strengths and areas that might need consideration.||Hurricanes have consequences. The Gulfview Hotel is just that a View of the Gulf. Sure I have read some of the OTHER reviews from people who clearly don’t travel enough. They say they smell mold.. LET ME BE CLEAR that is the smell of New Paint and NEW Carpet in the hallways and in the rooms. This hotel made out well for going through not 1 but 2 weather disasters as this hotel has been completely renovated. READ MORE||Positives:|• Renovated & Clean: The hotel has been through two major weather disasters but has made significant renovations, including new mattress, fresh paint, new carpets, and upgraded amenities like a larger pool deck with new chairs. GREAT front desk staff and house keeping. |• Convenience: They offer pool/hot tub and beach towels, plus an ice machine in the lobby to help fill up coolers.|• Proximity to Nightlife: The hotel is right next to Shephard’s, so guests can enjoy the nightlife without going far for live music. |• Beach Activities: Guests can rent jet skis and paddleboards next door.|• BYOB Policy: Guests can bring their own beverages, adding a personal touch to the pool/hot tub or beach experience, as long as they clean up after themselves.|• Family Friendly: YES, as it is easy to keep an eye on the kids at the pool or on the beach. NO LIFE GUARD is on duty. Just stay off the rocks on the beach as they can be slippery. You can even fish off the beach.|• Parking: FREE … FREE and FREE just make sure to have a parking pass from the front desk. |• NO RESORT FEES: Beach, Pool and Hot tub |• FREE WiFi: ||Caution:|• Some guests might smell what they interpret as mold, but clarify that it’s the fresh paint and new carpets.|• As a seasoned traveler this hotel is a great fit for more experienced travelers, as some reviews may come from people who aren’t familiar with renovations or travel experiences or the COST of other hotels. ||Conclusion:|I hope this review is helpful for those seeking a balance between price, location, and amenities, while also clarifying that the Gulfview Hotel may not be ideal for those who expect a completely pristine experience or are unfamiliar with renovations. Overall, this practical review is to help travelers with realistic expectations.|While the hotel may have a few imperfections, the renovations and location offer a solid experience, especially for those who appreciate the improvements and the amenities available. The Gulfview Hotel is a GREAT choice for guests looking to enjoy the area, but those expecting a completely pristine or untouched experience may need to adjust their expectations. Just sit back and watch the sunsets or the numerous numbers of dolphins that swim right by.||Room suggestion: any room with a balcony that faces the gulf. Our room also had a small frig and well stocked kitchenette for small cooking. ||I Would say this hotel is worth it for the price and location. 4 ½ stars. The ½ of a star is reserved for a NO TOUCH RESORT that cost a lot more. ||Jerry Ehrlich |From the Great City of SUPER BOWL...

This place by far was the WORST place to stay. The lobby and pool was the nicest thing of the whole place. Me and my fiance stayed there last night for our anniversary and was not pleased at all. BEFORE we brought our stuff up we checked the room out first... When I called the hotel and spoke with someone and booked it, I requested a room with full gulf view and a balcanoy. I indeed got that. The balcony was on the side of our room about 30 feet from the parking garage to the hotel next door not on the gulf side which is NOT were the guy stated it was. We were on the 3rd floor. Upon getting off the elevator the carpets were DIRTY, IT HAD SMELLED LIKE SOMEONE HAD DIED IN THERE ALONG WITH MARAJUANA SMELL AND A MOLDY MUSTY SMELL..We walked into the room and our fridge didn't even work, the room had a musty mildew smell, the beds were OLD with springs coming up. The view was nice. But couldn't open the windows. Then the balcony up against the parking garage was not cool. So we went back down and explained that this is NOT what I was supposed to get and that I wasn't happy. I did check with other hotels on the beach even ones that were higher priced and everything was booked. So because everything was already packed and had a sitter for the kids we just decided to leave it alone until in the morning. The clerk said that there was NOTHING HE COULD DO. I sprayed Lysol put our stuff in the room and we went to Shepard's until we were completely EXHUSTED. Our fridge still wasn't cold by the time we left to go out, there was rust all over the fridge and the 2 unsafe burners that were there Which looked like it was just gotten out of a scrap yard. So we enjoyed our night at Shepard's came back at 2:00 am and tried to go to bed. My fiance and I got up and went down stairs to what we were told was supposed to have breakfast and again there was NOTHING.... So we went back up to our room to grab our stuff I went to wash my face and there happened to be a sign hanging up on the towel rack that stated "trying to save water cost so if you need a towel take it and throw it on the floor otherwise leave them up so they could be recycled." I about threw up. The very next thing that ran threw our head was do they do that with the bed sheets to? Which probaly explains why both of us woke up with bug bites and very itchy And Maybe thats why the room had a funny smell. There wasn't even a fire extinguisher in our room. We grabbed our stuff and went to leave I explained all the problems above again and that lady seemed not to care in the least bit.. So needless to say our anniversary was RUINED.. I will also be calling the bank back tomorrow to have the charges reversed back to my card. For $200 plus a night it was truly a horrible experience and wouldn't wish this on my worst nightmare. Just WRONG AND...
