Read moreA basic complaint about poor customer service quickly escalated into a full blown shit show on Sunday, July 13. After three days of abrasive interactions with a particular employee of Surf Style #105, my wife called the store to identify the rude cashier and issue a complaint. The shift manager who took our call refused to entertain the notion that the employee (Ahmad) was rude or unprofessional due to a “language barrier”. We politely disagreed that a language barrier sufficiently explained away a consistently abrasive demeanor and rude mannerisms such as snatching receipts out of customer’s hands or thrusting their merchandise in the bag and dismissively pushing their purchases at them during checkout as though the employee owned the store and blatantly dislikes customer interactions. The shift manager would not identify the employee (who was continuously logged in under a different cashier’s credentials), so my wife opted to walk back to the store to speak to the store manager in person. Bad idea. We were greeted at the door by the shift manager and a Clearwater police officer. The shift manager, still refusing to provide the employee’s name for further follow up, interpreted my wife’s attempt to photograph the cashier as combative and instructed the officer to remove us from the premises or face arrest. Upon leaving the store, another employee (Tyler) followed us outside and proceeded to flick my wife off and lift up his shirt in a crude display of solidarity. After spending just shy of $1000 at this location over the course of a week long vacation, the proper response would have been, “we’re very sorry you had a poor experience at our location and we value your patronage. We have identified the employee and will follow up with them for additional...
Read moreManager Brandy was an absolute joke, talk about having zero leadership skills. Her issue: according to her, 1 shirt out of the 8 I was buying was not part of the “buy 3 get 1 free” promotion. I explained to the cashier, assistant manager and Brandy “the joke manager” that I grabbed the shirt where there was a sign that read “buy 3 get 1 free”. She insisted one of the shirts I picked not part of it. I said how would I know that THAT shirt was not part of the promotion if it’s in a stack right below a sign that read “buy 3 get 1 free”. I asked her what was the problem and she said this is not part of the promotion. I kept saying the “buy 3 get 1 free” signs were everywhere in the store. Her answer: “if he wants to act like a 2 year old, give it to him”. Brandy is totally disrespectful, rude, unprofessional and childish to customers who are tourists and are spending money at the store. She made that comment in front of 5 members of the surf style team. Sherly the assistant manager, was very good, she apologized for Brandy’s comments and took over, she should be promoted and Brandy should get demoted.
After I paid for all of my items, I pulled Brandy to the side and told her she was very rude, she apologized but at that point it was already too late for me. She set the wrong example for every single employee that heard her say what she said to a customer. In the end, this issue was because she as the manager didn’t know where her inventory was on the floor and which shirts were being advertised as “buy 3 get 1 free”. The place seems to be overpriced, hectic and disorganized. Surf Style is a good store but my first experience with a manager (Brandy) was absolutely terrible. Surf style should pay more attention to who they put in leadership roles at...
