The JW Marriott Clearwater Beach is a fantastic resort. My wife and I travel a lot and it exceeded our expectations. We felt valued as well as being recognized multiple times on the property as Elite Bonvoy members.
The level of highly attentive service throughout all areas of the resort stands out as one of the best things about this place. The culture of hospitality and teamwork is noticed.
Right from the moment we arrived, the team of attendants was there to cheerfully welcome us and help with bags and valet the vehicle. In fact every time we left they asked if we needed any help with anything and welcomed us back upon our return. The valet fee is seemingly high, but we got our vehicle delivered in 5 minutes or less every time.
The check in experience with Clementine was exceptional with warmth of reception and detailed explanations so we felt comfortable with what to expect, what was included, and how to navigate the property.
Our room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, quality sheets, blanket and towels, and nicely sized balcony with chairs easy to relax on.
Our first day there was a hot cider station in the lobby that was a memorable offering. That made us feel uniquely valued in the spirit of Thanksgiving. The team member making the cider drinks, I believe her name was Shannon, had an outgoing attractive personality to draw us in for conversation and making us feel special as we went along with our day.
The beach is spectacular. Pristine soft white sand and calm with minimal waves due to being inter coastal water. Being a private beach it is quiet, only accessed by people staying at the resort. One of the beach attendants Joey was quite friendly and a noticeable workhorse, Tyler was very helpful as well, and Melissa provided excellent and timely drink service for us while on the beach.
The pool is heated and comfortable just hanging out in it. The hot tub is great, but can maybe only accommodate 8 people comfortably. Both are on the rooftop which provides stunning ocean views while relaxing.
There is an abundance of chairs on the beach and by the pool to accommodate your comfort, plus multiple attendants to tend to your needs.
Housekeeping did a great job and they weren’t knocking on doors at 9 AM, cleaning our room late in the day but twice we had to ask for someone to service our room around 5PM. That said, they did a fantastic job and Pamela stood out as an outstanding housekeeper.
Eating at Latitude 28 was very enjoyable. Shannon the hostess made us feel very welcome and her genuine level of caring stood out. We had dinner there and the food was top notch.
The breakfast buffet at Latitude 28 has expansive quality offerings and one of the best we’ve enjoyed at a hotel, second only to a couple of Ritz-Carlton’s we’ve stayed at.
Although we didn’t get any spa service, we did go check it out and Juliana took the time to explain the many offerings of services and products plus gave us options of opportunity to book appointments.
I worked out in the fitness center twice and the equipment is diverse, high quality, clean, spacious, well laid out, and a great view of the ocean.
We did take the bikes that are included in the resort fee out for a ride. They are well maintained, comfortable to ride, easy to operate with handle twist gear shifter and a bell for safety.
At this place you’re paying premium pricing for everything, and I feel the cost from rooms, to drinks, to food, to valet are somewhat exorbitant, but at least you benefit from having many staff members in every department to help you with little to no wait time. The high quality service at this resort was the most memorable thing.
The star team member during our stay was Miguel who we had as a server for dinner, breakfast, and drinks on the beach. His personable professionalism with a joyful smile, remembering our names, making confident recommendations, meeting our needs without asking, and demonstrating an exceptional level of service with gratitude is the type of engagement to make us look forward to...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights with our family in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom room. It was FABULOUS! This is one of the best Marriott’s we have stayed at in a long time. The service and the staff is what makes this hotel great. Whoever the manager is, needs to be extremely proud of how this hotel is run. 10/10 for the staff. |The valet guys are friendly and prompt with bringing the cars around. The front desk staff will remember you by name and greet you each time they see you. |The biggest thing that was impressive was housekeeping. We actually received a call on our cell phone one of the days asking us if we are happy with our service and if they could do anything extra for us. Housekeeping was awesome each day for daily services as well as turndown service. ||The restaurant on the main level was AWESOME for breakfast! Shout out to James!! He’s the best server and so friendly! Also, big shout out to Terrell who makes the omelets! He literally made the best omelets everyday. He was so sweet and nice to talk to every morning. All the food was fresh, hot and displayed beautifully. Also, great coffee!! |Speaking of coffee… a big thank you to Gabriel at the little coffee shop/pastry area of the hotel. He made the best coffee drinks and was super friendly. ||The outdoor area of the hotel is beautiful, but the beach area is small and our family didn’t go in the water (there was a health advisory for bacteria when we were there). I would say this part was the only negative about the hotel. It’s situated near a bridge and the water isn’t as clear as some other areas of Clearwater Beach. If you’re looking for the beach, I would recommend going a few blocks down to the center of Clearwater beach and spending the day there. ||The rooftop pool is where we spent our afternoons. The food there is just ok and it’s $$$. The service is fantastic, but if you’re there on a weekends, plan to get chairs early, because it gets crowded. It was full when we were there, but not to the point where it was uncomfortable. All the guests were friendly, so it made it enjoyable. They had a DJ on Saturday afternoon and that was fun. If you’re looking for super quiet, then this is not for you. ||Our room was really spacious and nice and we had a huge balcony and a water view. The bathrooms were large and the beds were comfortable. The showers are HOT…so be aware! The pull out couch was a little too firm, but it was ok for our youngest son. ||We were on the 8th floor, so I would caution anyone with young kids to avoid that floor. The ballrooms are on that floor and there was a wedding going on. The music from the DJ was so loud, our room was shaking! We go to bed late, so it didn’t bother us so much, but if you have little ones who go to bed early, I would avoid those rooms. The music stopped at about 11:05 pm. |Other than that, the stay was awesome and we would return. The staff was the best and made our time enjoyable. I highly recommend...
Read moreI just completed a 3 night stay at the JW Marriott Clearwater Beach resort/hotel. I really would have never considered staying in Clearwater before this hotel but gave it a shot and was not dissapointed in any way.
Property and amenities: The property is brand spanking new and was opened less than a year ago. This is clear from all the amenities and common spaces. It is very well built and there are lots of cool architectural features inside and out. There is free water in the lobby along with a special lemonade or other drink each day. There is a small beach that is maintained very well and run by great people. The beach is tiny but the hotel capacity is pretty low so it never felt over crowded even on a saturday or sunday. The hotel is on the south end of Clearwater, right above Sand Key so it’s away from the noise but a 15 min walk (or a 5 min bike ride on the free bikes) to the center of everything if you want to leave the property.
Food: It’s hard to say how many restaurants there are at the hotel, but they were all great! There is Latitude 28 which is a high end restaurant at night and the most formal of the options. It serves breakfast in the morning and then becomes “Eskape” in the afternoon (a casual lunch spot with only outdoor dining) and finally becomes the formal dinner spot. The Eskape menu is what is offered on the beach. There is a continental breakfast bar for platinum and above which was amazing on its own but can be upgraded to a hot breakfast selection for only $10 extra. I did this for 2 of the 3 mornings. The people who run the breakfast and omelet bar were amazing. There is then a rooftop restaurant that is a popping bar at night but offers poolside service all day long. All of the food was great and my girlfriend is vegan and had no issue finding good food. Most times at Latitude 28 / Eskape our server was James, who was just amazing and made our stay even better.
Room: The room itself is somewhat basic but still amazing. Like I mentioned, this hotel is brand new and it shows. The room is very clean and well appointed with plenty of space. I booked an intercoastal view but was upgraded to a 2 queen beach facing room. I took the smaller bed over the worse view and was very pleased. I was on the 2nd floor so the view was framed amazingly with the palm trees.
Service: As mentioned, our waiter, James, was the star of our service experience. But everyone from the front desk to the bellhops to the concierge were extremely helpful day to day and brightened our stay. The only blip I had was at check in where I felt like it was rushed, nothing was explained very well about the property and they didn’t acknowledge my status at all. It seemed like the guy was in training but still not a fun experience to start the trip. Housekeeping was also great, they organized my toiletries that I has scattered over the bathroom onto a towel they laid out which made it feel...
