Opal Sands Resort & Spa — Hotel in Clearwater

We expected great things from this place because we heard great things from this place so I decided to book us a stay there for my gf and i’s 2 year anniversary a nice getaway on the beach right? Well once we got there it was starting to feel like the complete opposite, so we requested an early check in a day before our check in, they told us to ask during our check in day upon arrival to see if it was possible. Upon arrival we go to the front desk and tell the girl there that we requested an early check in and she said yes they’ll clean the rooms for us now and that we’d receive a text once the rooms ready and just for us to go use their “amenities” so we go to the sandbar to get some drinks to kill some time, we get bored and want to lounge by the pool so we take our drinks and head to the pool which was super packed btw because they closed down part of the area for a wedding event they were hosting that evening (we were not aware of this until later) but as we’re trying to look for chairs we notice two unoccupied chairs with a note on it stating “if this chair isn’t claimed within 30 mins it will be vacant” or something like that anyways we ask a staff member about the note and she says she hasn’t seen them for a bit and it shouldn’t be a problem, she proceeded to strip the chairs of the towels that were on it and put new towels for us, so we sit down and relax and kill time but 5 mins goes by and this couple comes up to us and this guy tells us to get up rudely (15 mins and it would have been 30 mins) so me not wanting to cause a scene infront of everyone I just decide we should just get up and relocate, at this point I’m super annoyed and frustrated so we decide to go try and explore more, we go to Opal Sol (We should have just stayed there) to kill some more time, and some areas you actually need key access so it was actually just for guests who were staying at the hotel use only unlike Opal sands where it seemed anybody can just come in out guest or not, an hour goes by and we decide just to go to the beach to kill some more time, at this point it look like it was gonna rain bad and it was getting to a 2 and half hour mark so frustrated we decide to just go up to the desk and see what was going on because we are tired and want to shower and get settled in, we get to the front desk and talk to another girl there and she tells us the room is ready? We don’t even know how long it had been ready for we were just waiting on a text the whole time so it could have been ready after the 30 mins we left!! Anyways we finally get to the room and want to shower and relax a bit before dinner, I go to the bathroom and lift up the toilet seat and I just felt old dry urine on the seat the most disgusting thing, at this point I’m already super pissed and ready to just leave but we wanted to try to make the best of it.. anyways later on in the evening after we came back from dinner we try to just relax watch a movie and get ready to turn in but the wedding reception downstairs was blasting music from 4-10 pm so there was early sleep for us on top of noisy family right next to us I tried putting a pillow over my head but noticed a blood stain on a pillow behind I was laying on at this point all these issues I had accumulated throughout the whole day and it was already 10 p.m and I just didn’t wanna deal with it and was too tired to, I’ve been to Holiday Inns that have had better service and cleaner rooms than at this “resort” and I would never ever come back here maybe I’d give their sister location a try but this is by far the worst experience I’ve had at a hotel my whole life btw if you’re staying in room 320 you’d have to call them to use the chrome cast because it has a bad hdmi cord would not recommend this place for a...

Let me start with, I had to argue with the front desk to get clean sheets. The most basic “amenity” you can ask for from any hotel.

The first night we were there we unknowingly slept on dirty sheets, and we asked them to be changed we were mocked by the individual at the front desk and brushed off by the manager. We were genuinely told the dirty sheets weren’t that big of a deal from the front desk before I asked for said manager.

After two calls and a visit to the front desk showing them photos the soiled sheets I was told our room would be deep cleaned and sheets would be changed. We got back to our room after this cleaning supposedly happened and they didn’t even change the sheets or touch anything in our room besides the towels in the bathroom. They did remake the bed with the dirty sheets still on them. These sheets were stained and clearly soiled.

After another visit to the front desk, I was assured the sheets would be changed. When we got back to the room the sheets had finally been changed, but the room door had been left completely open/ajar with all of our belongings inside. I visited the front desk again to notify them. The floors are not secured during the day and anyone could have walked right through our open door and taken any number of valuables that were in plain site through the open door.

We were given $100 “resort credit” for two visits to the front desk. We paid over $800 a night for our suite plus taxes and fees. After this, there was zero follow up by Managment. There were zero apologies, there was no care for the issues we had. They clearly had no regard for our stay or patronage at the hotel. I have never encountered a more unpleasant valet or front desk staff at a luxury resort. I asked to be called by management when we checked out, no one has bothered to reach out.

For being one of, if not the nicest, resort in Clearwater beach, it left much to be desired. Stay at the JW or another luxury resort around and you will certainly get better service.

Before the “owner” account responds, please know your response to save face with the general public does not make up for the fact that you completely disregarded us on our family vacation. You didn’t care when we were at the hotel asking for help. Your lack of care or respect for our time at your resort isn’t acceptable, and a half apology through a keyboard and computer screen isn’t acceptable.
