We stayed at the Pelican Pointe from April 24th to May 4th - Two adults and a 4 year old. It's a couple min walk to the beach. Lots of places to eat near by. We arrived past check-in time, if you let them know ahead of time, they'll leave your room key in a lock-box and confirm via text that you have received the combination code. Made check-in super easy at 1am. We also received a large yellow tote for lugging suff to the beach. The pool area was great, clean and had plenty of sun in the afternoon, and shade later in the day, with water toys and floats.. Bonus - the pool is heated, we were in to, pretty much every day. While the hotel is on the older side and shows it's age in certain areas, it's perfect if you're looking for something that is budget friendly. Our room was large and clean, with a kitchenette that offered a mini bar fridge, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. (They make coffee in the lobby for guests, - way convenient in my opinion) also comes with cutlery, plates, bowls, glasses and mugs. Our room also had a couple of fold-up beach chairs you could take to the beach with you. We were also provided beach towels during our stay. With Covid-19, the cleaning staff only comes into your room upon request, booking a cleaning time, was super easy. If you wanted fresh towels, just leave your used ones in bags provided outside your door and they would be replaced with new ones later in the day. Most of the rooms had front facing balconies with chairs, and many guests used the railing to dry beach towels and swimsuits. Free parking onsite and you were provided with a pass to display on your car window. Laundry facilities were onsite too, just off the pool area. Detergent was $1, Washing machine $1.75 and dryer $1. We had a great time staying here and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a budget and family...
Read moreWe were in room 114 which I appreciate being that it was on the first floor, midway between Coronado and Gulfview, and pool adjacent so getting to and from our destinations was super convenient. It is just a short walk from the beach as well as several restaurants. The room itself was perfect for our family of 4, my husband and I in the queen while our 2 littles took the futon. We were pleasantly surprised to see that our stay included beach chairs, a beach umbrella, a handful of boardgames, and beach towels. While we didn't need/use the following, there were also a coffeemaker, toaster, microwave, dishes and dish soap in the kitchenette and toiletries in the bathroom/shower. We also very much appreciate having access to a mini fridge, oscillating fan, and dehumidifier. My only complaints which are super trivial and hardly worth mentioning - only doing so in case it helps this place improve - is that the minifridge smelled funky and the dehumidifier was full of water when we checked in. Otherwise, this place is fantastic especially for the price point! Clean, super convenient location, not too fancy but definitely not just your average motel either. We will definitely be back!!! BTW, it is written in multiple places that guests MUST place their parking pass in their dash or they will be towed. You also have to physically sign that you understand this upon registering your vehicle. For this reason, I wouldn't put much stock in the negative reviews ranting about car towing issues. If you want free parking and to be able to have a spot in a coveted area, this is the trade off and people shouldn't be mad at the hotel if they can't follow this...
Read moreWhat a GEM! For many years, my family and I have looked for the last essence of class and coziness when it comes to vacationing, both short and longer stays. We found one here at Clearwater Beach, in the Pelican Point Hotel … looking for comfort, convenience and customer care? A subtle, suitable, well maintained, and welcoming place beckons. What a fantastic stay! A short stroll, relaxing stroll to the white sandy beaches, Pier 60 minutes' walk away, food, shops ... if you choose to drive for 2 minutes instead, parking is available. Add to that, there is no fee to park at the hotel! The rooms just bring you back to a time when life was much simpler, with restaurants up and down the way from the hotel, one immediately next store, which had fantastic sea food, but that is in another review.
The staff very friendly and courteous, the ambiance one of rest and relaxation, the amenities, location, dining ... all at fingertip and satisfying.
Hats off to Pelican Point for one of the most relaxing vacations we've had in some time. We can stay where we choose, and have; nothing, and I mean nothing compares to the hometown atmosphere, the "local place" charm and culture hidden gems like this bring when traveling.
We will be back, next time with friends or family, perhaps both ... but we will be back before time swallows up the last pieces of history that catered to service, to the customer, not one location striving to outdo the other.
OH ... love the Pelican you can take with you to post pictures with!
Thank you...
