Where do I begin?! OVERPRICED $414 per night (Next door @Shehards Beach Resort it was $277/night- more of them later).
This Hampton Inn and Suites is UNDERSTAFFED, UNDERCARED FOR, UNDER AMENITIZED, UNDER MANAGED... JUST UNDER IN ALL CATEGORIES First of all the parking was a nightmare...The moment we showed we were ordered to keep it moving and not allowed to unload at the first floor elevator, instead we had to go up six stories in their very tight and narrow parking garage to try and find parking to then unload our bags. Very unorganized and rude attendants.
The Room: They offered nothing special in anything. Beds were hard as a rock. You could feel the springs coming up on both queen beds. The sofa bed was impossible. Thank you Kids for offering to sleep on them !🙏 Because I would have needed a trip to the chiropractor... Which I feel that I still need after sleeping on their old and overused beds. Things were also breaking like the towel rack and the bathroom privacy door would not close all the way. OK we are not in Clearwater for the parking, the towel rack or the beds right. We are here for the views the beach and the food right?! So, now on to that. Food first... We arrived Wed night around 5 and went to one of the Hotels restaurants to eat... CLOSED. No sign just locked door. And no one around to ask. Went downstairs to find valet and ask where we could find a place to eat. When I went up to the valet and said "Excuse me can I ask you a quest....." He got a phone call, took it, and just left me standing there. Then I heard him ordering Chinese food for himself. I almost asked him where he was ordering from but decided to just walk away lol. We ended up going right next door to Winter the Dolphins Resort restaurant and had an amazing experience. Ben the waiter Italian and French was kind and courteous and made great suggestions.their manager was also very attentive. Highly recommend them... wings pasta burgers all good. We walked ate ice cream and went to bed ready for the Beach next day.
Bed coverings and pillows: when we were getting ready to go to sleep around 10:30pm we noticed that we did not have coverings pillows or sheets for the pull out... when we called they said we needed to go downstairs to reception. When we went downstairs to reception they told us that the guy that handles that does not come in until 11:00 p.m. and that we would need to go back down at 11:00 p.m.? 30 minute wait to sleep. Damn... But ok... At 11pm I sent one of my kids to the front desk when I get a knock on the door and find a guy with Pillows at our door lol WTH is going on with this place... This hotel felt like it was being run by Mo Larry and Curly.
Day 2 The HI Beach Experience: How bad could it be? Horrible!
Breakfast: They ran out of meat by 8:45AM. Enough said.
The Beach: We showed up and none of the chairs were set up. They had one attendant that spent over 15 minutes talking/hovering over a young woman while she tried to enjoy her vacation and he would just not leave. All the while me and my family were waiting for him to set up our chairs. We ended up just laying on our towels as did many other guests.
The Beach 2: The beach/sand itself was unkept and dirty when compared to the 3 properties right next to it. Mind you that we were in Red Tide and dead fish were washing up to shore. At $400+ a night I would expect that they would be proactive in assigning someone to clean their little piece of beach so guest don't have to be wading with sea life that has passed on. Instead we just had to swim and walk around dead fish. REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE!!!
What was more upsetting was that from our balcony we could see the adjacent resorts cleaning and making their resort guest ready. Specifically Shephards Resort. This facility was non stop working to keep the beach clean and guest happy. The attendant did not stop working the whole day while our guy...
Read moreI took my wife to Clearwater for our anniversary. We have been married twenty years, so you might imagine we were excited to be celebrating. This was also the first time that my wife and I had an opportunity to take a trip without children. When we got to the hotel the woman at the front desk was talking very loudly to a guest. The loud conversation was about the guest's room not being correct. The woman booked a room with a tub. The clerk told the woman that her room was changed to accommodate a guest that was staying longer. The woman at the desk also told the guest that she could take the room or stay at a different hotel. Hearing how the hotel employee was talking to the guest made us uncomfortable and nervous. As for the quality of our stay; it was poor at best. I want nothing to do with Hampton Inn & Suites in Clearwater Florida. After checking in we went down to the hotel restaurant and sat at the bar to have dinner and drinks. The bartender did not offer us a menu for approximately 15-20 minutes and even then, did not start us with a drink. She handed us the menus and did not speak to us again. After another 10 more minutes of no service and watching several others at the bar have their order taken and be served, we went to a restaurant across the street. My wife and I had planned to stay for six nights, but we were only able to stay two out of the six. When we arrived, the loud and impatient woman at the front desk confirmed our reservation. Our total was higher than the amount stated in reservation email by more than $300.00. She explained that the extra charge was for incidentals. We were never aware or did we plan on an additional $300 incidental fee. I asked if there would be any other charges, she told me no other charges would be added and that our bill was paid in full. That night the night auditor approved a charge for $455.00 and the next night a charge for $269.00. So, by the second night there was over $1000.00 in fees pending on my card that I had not expected. The manager first told me that the computer system must have thought we would be spending more money, so they held more money to make sure our charges would be paid. He then changed his story and told us that it was normal to be charged a total amount upon arrival and then to be charged the room prices daily. He said that every hotel that he has worked in has done it this way even though we told him that we have never had this occur. He found it totally acceptable that our bank would be holding nearly $5000 on a room that was supposed to be $2050ish dollars. The manager was making up excuses rather than attempting to resolve the issue. The only help the manager offered was for us to check out so that the additional charges would stop. If we would have continued our six-night stay the additional fees would have been well over $2000.00. This tied-up the money at my bank do to pending charges. In a way I was running out of money because the people working for the hotel are incompetent at their jobs and were holding double what they were supposed to. So faced with the decision to stay, having limited funds for our anniversary plans and not knowing what we would be charged in total, we decided; or more truthfully were forced to leave and end our anniversary getaway. I was told that the hotel would only take $842.84 and all other fees would not come out of my bank. In my opinion $842.84 is an extraordinary amount to pay for poor manners, terrible customer service, and unprofessional management. Not to mention that our cherished anniversary celebration time was taken from us. Both my wife and I used our vacation hours to have this terrible experience. This experience was very disappointing and a sham. Would not...
Read moreWorst Hampton Inn experience in our life. We are honors members and stay at almost exclusively Hilton hotels and a lot of Hampton inns all over. We generally prefer it because it's always a great experience.......UNTIL THIS HOTEL. It was recommended as kid-friendly and we were traveling with our 7month old. We booked for 3 nights in July 2024. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived around 1:30ishpm, they said it wouldn't be ready until at least 4pm (which is ridiculous to make people wait that long-especially with a baby) they offered us a different room that was slightly smaller. We agreed to the smaller room because we needed somewhere to let our baby stretch and play and nap and asked for a credit for the room difference, they couldn't figure out how to credit us and would get back to me on it, they never did. We kept having to ask for a crib/pack n play, when they finally brought it to us it was broken and tried to cover up the breaks with a giant comforter shoved in the bottom as "cushion" which is not safe sleep AT ALL for a baby to have blankets and "cushions". We asked for another one and the side bar was broken on that one and kept collapsing. We ended up having to have the baby sleep with us for the entire stay because we didn't trust anything the hotel gave us. The smaller room they gave us ended up being very run down and dated. The carpets definitely need scrubbing. Our feet and our child's feet and legs would be black from walking and crawling on the floor in there. You could tell the AC was going out because it constantly felt damp and humid in there. We initially thought that was the FL humidity until we got to a different FL hotel 3 days later and realized it was a problem at this hotel. Our hot water wasn't working, the maintenance guy was on break when we talked to the front desk, by the time he came by the baby was napping and we asked if he could come back, he never did. Thankfully we only reserved to stay at this hotel for 3 days because those 3 days were awful and i couldn't imagine staying there longer than that or ever again. They charge astronomical prices marketing this hotel as a resort by having it's own beach access (which was nice for the 1 day we got to go to the beach) but being charged almost $1000.00 for 3 days in a smaller room than we booked, that was incredibly dated and broken down and then give TWO broken pack n plays for our baby is just outrageous. I filled out the survey immediately after our stay explaining all these things and asked for someone to contact me. NO ONE DID. I then opened a case with Hilton Honors and they finally got back to me saying someone from the hotel management would reach out in 3 business days, a week and half went by and NO ONE DID. I reached out again asking why I hadn't heard from someone and I got an email saying we were given some HH points which was the equivalent to about $100.00 and that was it. I followed up again asking if I would ever get to talk to someone about these problems and I was just told "here are your points and that's it." so basically they tried to give "HUSH UP" points so we would quit complaining. So I think other people ESPECIALLY families or people traveling with small children should know NOT TO USE THIS HOTEL. IT'S AN OVERPRICED RIP OFF AND NOT KID/BABY...
