I do not write bad reviews, unless it really upsets me. We are locals just looking for a few days away "from home". I work from home and it was my birthday. We even contacted several dog sitters to try to avoid bringing our dogs with us. I searched for days for a pet friendly motel/hotel. I finally found this gem that states they were "pet friendly". We arrived on a Friday evening, the owners were very friendly. The room was very run and tiny. The owner did warn me about the bed being a full size bed, but was not expecting the room to be sooo tiny. After settling it, we noticed several ants around the room. Floor was filthy. I went to surf style across the street and bought chlorox wipes and wiped down the entire floor. Toilet paper was almost empty as well. We decided to just "deal" with the problems we encountered instead of complaining to the owners, as they are a small mom/pop shop and I wanted to support them. My husband and I took our two dogs with us - and we out after the sunset (missed the sunset) and returned a few hours later. Our dogs are barkers and usually settle down after we leave (I did tell the owner that on the phone when making the reservation to make sure it was not a deal breaker). The next morning, the toilet clogged and we went out to ask the owner for a plunger. He stated no plunger, plumber coming, do not shower or go to the bathroom in the meantime until it gets fixed, we said okay no problem. At this point, I asked when check out was and if anyone complained about the dogs. He said no. My husband and i went to breakfast and were gone for maybe 45 minutes? Returned back, roto rooter was there (thats good to see it happened so quickly). The owner then approaches us and states that everyone is complaining about the dogs barking and accused us of not returning to the motel last evening to our dogs. I then asked for my money back for the remaining night, and he only go $80 back, to my knowledge $100 was Saturday evenings cost and we left before the "checkout" time. He said that we could stay, but who would at this point (also to be respectful of the other patrons there)? The walls were paper thin, gap in top of the door, and yes our dogs barked, but I could not help the structure and the noise control of the walls. All in all - were are just disappointed our "mini getaway" was ruined but it was a blessing in disguise. As we were packing our things - the room smelled like sewage from roto rooter...
Read moreThis is one of the older cute little motels on Coronado drive just across the street from the beach. The owners are a little Polish couple who does not give confirmation numbers she just keeps your name. You get a little deal if you use cash. I booked here for The Clearwater rock and roll half marathon This year, 2023. She took my name and that is all. I called a couple of times over the months to make sure she still had my name and she did. I arrived and they were an adorable little couple and quickly got me to my room. My room is number one and it has a full size bed a fridge a microwave, TV and a bathroom and that is all. Literally all I need. I did my run and relax for a day and now I walked across the street with a coffee and I'm sitting on the beach looking at the ocean waves coming in. You kind of can't beat it. As far as the room this is not a high-end place obviously but the bathrooms are clean the towels / linens are clean and I have everything I need. I haven't used the pool it's a tiny kidney bean pool but it is also clean and clear. Anyone else I have talked to you from the other rooms have been so kind and I just really don't have any complaints. So if you come knowing what to expect And that expecting a ton more, you will have a great time literally right across the street from the beach. I can't comment on the other rooms or the sizes but I'm assuming they're just a little bit bigger and equally filled. I do not have a car with me but there is parking all around the building. The door locks are not amazing but I really don't see anyone kicking in my door anytime soon So I'm not too worried. This is just a cute little literal mom and pop motel. I would definitely come back here and I just might do that...
Read moreMy grandchildren and I loved this gem of a mom and pop owned motel that is still part of what makes Clearwater Beach so charming. The friendly owners are a sweet older couple, who have owned this clean 6 unit motel for 30 years. We had 2 comfortable nights here. Their swimming pool is clean and the hot Florida sun, warmed the pool. My grandchildren were delighted when told they could use the clean pool’s floaters and pool loungers. We had lots of laughs and enjoyed both the pool as well as the added convenience of walking to the beach and boardwalk. My grandchildren are 6 and 8 years old, so the short distance to the beach was an added amenity. Hurry and book here before big corporate millionaires purchase all of Clearwater Beach and Pier 60 and it will never be the same. The last time I stayed in one of Clearwater Beach’s family owned motels was 16 years ago when there were many of these cozy home style places but sadly, I learned that there are only 3 left. Thank you, dear sweet couple, for continuing to offer a home away from home to those of us who do not want to be packed in the middle of a crowded, way too expensive, tall, wide skyscraper with valet parking and a bunch of strangers, just because they have an ice machine on each of their overkill floors and a tossed in meal. Bring your own food or cook in their kitchen. You will...
