My boyfriend came across the Sta N Pla online and we both immediately fell in love with the vintage retro style on the outside of the motel as well as the updated rooms and courtyard. We got more than we expected for our week long stay! We did arrive a little early (check in time is at 3 pm unless you ask for an earlier check in time prior to arrival). We knew we would have to wait a little bit which was fine; however, we only had to wait about 15 minutes and we were good to go! When we opened the door to our room, we absolutely loved it right away! Spacious, charming, with a beach decor that brought it all together perfectly! We rented the King Deluxe Waterfront room which included a back balcony over looking the bay. We were on the second floor. It includes a small kitchenette (with a full size refrigerator, mini stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and fully furnished with all the necessities!) The motel also provided free dvd movies if you wanted to watch something other than cable, bikes to ride free of charge, and free use of beach chairs to take to the beach if you needed them! (We took advantage of the bikes and the movies!!) The courtyard is absolutely beautiful and very well kept with grills, tables and chairs, and their pool was very clean and blue with plenty of lounge chairs to sit on. It was quiet at night with no disturbance of any kind. The linens were very clean. There were extra towels as well as extra linens and blanket/pillows. The bathroom was very clean as well! There were a few minor issues which were mostly resolved very quickly and with great effort on the staff's part.
There was garbage which had not been taken out of the wastebasket and there was only one pool towel (there was a note on the pool towel stating there would be two in the room and if one went missing, there would be a $20 replacement charged to your bill). We immediately notified the staff and they promptly took out the trash and made a note in their book about the other missing towel so we would not be charged for it. The bikes are a bit run down but were usable (some rusted, some with the fenders not aligned, tires low). We did check out a couple of the better bikes we saw and were very happy with them. The motel also offered free WI-FI and I was happy about that and had brought my laptop with me. However, even with the login and password given to us, I was unable to log onto the wi-fi service. The owner/manager did try to help as much as he could and eventually gave us a support number to call at which I only got a busy signal every time I called. Needless to say, I did without the wi-fi just fine and was probably better for it! I had only brought my laptop to plan for the days events we wanted to do. But the motel provided plenty of up to date brochures and we were able to pick out what we wanted to do and where to eat along with some great suggestions from the staff. There is no phone in the room which I was surprised to find out. But we did have our cell phones, so I could easily understand why there would be no reason for a phone in the room as most people carry cell phones now. The shampoo/soaps, etc. was really only enough for one use but thankfully, we brought our own. I'm sure the staff would have given more had we asked (but we always bring our own).
The staff were all very pleasant and very helpful! If we had questions or concerns about anything, they were more than willing to answer our questions and help as much as possible!!
We HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy, beautifully decorated inside and out, retro style hotel which is within a very short walking distance (5 minutes or less) to the main attraction-the beach-and all kinds of other attractions, sites, shopping, restaurants, and so much more!! We will be coming back again and look forward to another wonderful stay at...
Read moreRecently tried to make a reservation but was refused because I travel with a service animal. I was told that they would not allow a psychiatric sevice animals . I realize that business owners feel taken advantage of because people fake service animals but I carry documentation and we were still not allowed to stay. I have no trouble with airlines and restaurants and other hotels. She has all the necessary paperwork as outlined by the ADA and more . I have copied the following from the ADA.gov web site Service Animal” Is DefinedService animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.This definition does not affect or limit the broader definition of “assistance animal” under the Fair Housing Act or the broader definition of “service animal” under the Air Carrier Access Act.Some State and local laws also define service animal more broadly than the ADA does. Information about such laws can be obtained from the State attorney general’s office. In response to the reply below:. I answered those two questions adequately and was still refused to stay with my service animal. I carry documentation which includes signed physician statement that I travel with a prescribed service animal and why she is necessary and Documentation from veterinarians, and proof of training all of which are not necessary according to the ADA but I provide because I am sensitive to your situation of possibly being taken advantage of. I understand that you feel taken advantage of because of fake service animals but not sure what more I could have done to prove that she is needed and trained adequately to perform her service. You clearly have the right to refuse us if we are irresponsible or the animal is disruptive. You could have been kind and given...
Read moreWe chose this place because it offers rooms right on the water and is walking distance to the beach, restaurants , etc. A great location. The motel advertises free Wifi; we would not have booked without this, however upon check-in we promptly learned that, despite their possession of two networks, neither works. If the resort were full, I would assume they just had less bandwidth than needed to accommodate everyone however the place was a ghost town.
The room itself was tiny - fine for a room in this location as it's just for sleeping and washing up. It did contain a mini fridge which is excellent. However it was dirty. One flush of the toilet and it ran, loudly the rest of our stay. The shower was just that - no tub, again fine for this type of area. The problem comes in with the funk that was growing on the shower floor. As we did not expect this and bring any sort of shower shoes, we were unable to shower since we were not willing to risk foot infections, plantar's warts, etc. We were forced to clean up in the small sink.
They do offer free movies, books, BBQ areas, there are 2 small pools, they offer pool toys, fishing rods, etc all free of charge to guests. A nice amenity but I would've been content to have the Wifi they advertised be functional and a shower I could stand in.
Will not stay again and do not recommend - unless they make some changes.
The check-in staff was super nice and efficient and knowledgeable of the area. The manager I had the misfortune of meeting was incredibly mean- there seemed to reason for this as I only walked past her and you would think she would want guests in her motel.... weird. Could've been having a bad day, we all do. If she's always like this, she should stay out of sight.
The rooms that do walk out to the water are nicely located, this is a quiet area from which one can glimpse sharks, fish, pelicans and maybe if lucky - manatees. They do offer dolphin views but it's just an inlet, so I'm not sure why dolphins would be there. Also very shallow as I can see the littered ground through the murky water. Some sharks did wander in and were obviously fishing as did a couple...
