Do Not Recommend. I'm not a high maintenance person but this has turned into a dive hotel. I've stayed here a few times before and can attest it didn't used to be this bad. But, I had not been back for a year before this trip. Shocked to see how any attempts to update the property previously have all fallen into disrepair to an unappealing level.
THE BAD: Terribly peeling epoxy paint in the bathtub with large pieces that had not yet flaked away flopping around in the water under my feet as I showered. Moldy grout in the bathroom. Badly stained lampshade and decor makes the whole room feel filthy. Small thin bath towels the size only a toddler could enjoy using. Grimy couch I truly wouldn't let a dog sit on. Painted walls with a couple inch gap around headboards and fixtures showing the old paint color. Rickety, slow elevator with missing flooring pieces and a door that continues to mechanically close even if there is an object in the way; I am surprised it passes inspection. Old, dingy, tattered drapes from decades ago have missing chunks of fabric. Mix matched furnishings. Broken drawers. Corroded faucets. Wall clock with dead battery. Cracked light switches and outlet covers. Floating garbage in the pool. Basically, the hotel has just gone really downhill.
THE GOOD: Great view if you're on the gulf side. Convenient location. At first glance, the color on the walls, the artwork, and the headboards are cute and give a distraction from the actual maintenance issues noted above.
OVERALL: Lower price than most on the beach but can't say it was a bargain with how bad the condition of the room was. Sad really. Rude, unprofessional general manager. Miss Debbie downer has cost the hotel my business. I won't stay here again.
UPDATE: The general manager's first reply should tell you a lot. It said, “Response from the owner: Im guessing you left this review because we charged you for the blood covered sheets. Its funny you extended your stay 4 days but it was such a horrible experience. Thanks for the business!” That reply is adding insult to injury, but, since she brought that up and did not deliver the actual facts, allow me to be clear. My reservation was extended by a single day weeks before I arrived due to a schedule change after my 4 day stay had already been booked. Had I known the room and staff attitude were so substandard, I would have canceled and booked elsewhere. If I could’ve canceled my booking after I seeing the room, I would have.
Regarding the charge, I made no previous mention of the $85 …yes $85 charge for sheets that my husband’s skinned knee made contact with. And, I was the one who pointed it out to housekeeping so they would know to pretreat the spot if necessary before laundering. This is in no way permanent or excessive damage. Every hotel and hospital knows hydrogen peroxide or oxyclean removes 100% of blood on fabric and health code requires it in their laundry for that reason. And let's be honest, the exorbitant charge $85 should get 4000 thread count Egyptian cotton which I can assure you is not remotely close to what is on any bed in the entire hotel. Pretty scammy. But I did not post about the upcharge and the manager is showing her inability to professionally deal with the real issues. I’m only answering to the facts because the hotel manager does not have the skills to address poor management of the hotel. My original review is just honest about the room itself, the unsafe elevator, dirty pool, and the general manager. My review was not about the cost of the hotel or any over-charges, but Miss Debbie probably should not be in the hospitality industry. There are many other hotels in the area that are happy to earn your business. It's not worth it to stay where customer service and maintenance are of the lowest quality. Maybe she'll respond again with a more professional statement. Maybe not. Either way, it won't change my observations, so just...

We recently stayed at the Beachview Hotel in Clearwater to surprise our daughter for her 21st birthday she absolutely loves the beach, so we chose this spot mainly for the prime location, and in that regard, it definitely delivered.
This hotel is right in the heart of Clearwater Beach, walking distance to restaurants, bars, shops, and of course, the beautiful white sand beach. If you’re looking for a convenient base to enjoy everything Clearwater has to offer without needing to drive much, this is a great option. You’re really paying for location here and it shows.
That said, the property itself is dated and could use some serious updating, especially the exterior. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, the outside of the hotel doesn’t look nearly as inviting or modern as some of the other hotels in the area. It gives off more of a “classic beach motel” vibe, which isn’t necessarily bad if you know what to expect but don’t expect anything luxurious.
Our room was clean, which we appreciated, but it had a musty, old smell that lingered throughout the stay. It wasn’t unbearable, but it did give the impression that the building is due for renovations or at least better ventilation and deep cleaning. We booked an ocean view room, and the view was definitely beautiful but be aware that you only get that view from the higher floors, and that means lots of stairs.
Unfortunately, the elevator was not working during our stay, which made things pretty inconvenient. Climbing four flights of stairs in the Florida heat especially after a day at the beach or carrying luggage is not exactly pleasant. We adjusted to it eventually, but it’s not ideal for families with small children, older guests, or anyone with mobility concerns. This alone would prevent us from recommending it to certain travelers.
On the plus side, the staff was very friendly. The woman who checked us in was especially welcoming and helpful. Her positive attitude really made a difference after a long drive and helped start our stay on the right foot.
Despite the hotel’s drawbacks, we still had a good experience overall. Clearwater Beach is absolutely stunning, and once you’re out in the sun, sand, and ocean breeze, the little things about the hotel start to matter less. You do get that “beach hotel it is what it is” feeling, and we made the most of it. That said, we believe the property has a lot of potential and with some renovations particularly to the exterior, common areas, and elevators it could be a real standout spot on the beach.
Final thoughts: If you’re looking for a central, beachfront hotel and don’t mind sacrificing a bit of comfort for location, this place will work just fine. But if you’re looking for a modern, upscale experience, you might want to explore other options. For us, the stay was worth it to celebrate our daughter’s birthday in a place she loves, and for that reason alone, we’ll remember the...
Read moreAt first glance the room was nice is on a good location but later on the following day going to clean up and make it look nice and easier to clean up for housekeeping my son pulled out a pair of dirty underwear from under the bed!they were only willing to replace the 32.00 for the service fee of the room and not willing to do anything else for me.would not refund me one night of the room was not an option due to the fact that I stayed but considering it's the middle of the night and I have a young son and I'm in a town that I do not know where am I supposed to go and there was no management available to approve this action so I was forced to stay and was unable to be refunded the cost of the room for one night
I believe that's what I had already said and I'm quite aware of where I live but beings it was storming that night and was late when we found them I wasn't going to climb down five sets of stairs with a special needs child in the rain to go home in the middle of the night and yes the rooms are quite costly as you make sure that I knew you could not refund that $400 for room but yet I didn't pay $400 to get dirty underwear under the bed and you're right people are not perfect they make mistakes and overlook stuff all the time it happens to the best of them but it's not overlooking that was completely ignoring and avoiding out of sight out of mind right.. overlooking something hygienically compromising is a huge deal and to spend that much money on the room to find that who would not be upset about that. Had I known that I would be met with such reluctance and doing some kind of accommodating I was met with slight hostility and defensiveness I never was rude angry said names or insulted but I was talked to upon as if I had some nerve to expect something from y'all, but .. technically I do .nobody pays $400 a night for a room to find dirty underwear in it. Maybe one thing if it was just a pair of clean underwear but no they were dirty soiled. And as you said $400 is a lot for a room and nobody wants to find that in the room after paying that much money so I apologize if you're going to insinuate that I'm in the wrong somehow for not leaving but nobody's going to climb five flights of cement stairs with a young special needs child and a huge duffle bag in the middle of a storm in the middle of the night. But promise you I would have left had not be for them circumstances and even if I had I strongly feel as if nothing would have been done about the situation except given an excuse and be expected to let It Go but BTW food for thought ....first thing you see when you check in is the big sign it says if you have an issue with our staff or speak to us wrong if you think you can do the job better we're always accepting applications so, I would have to assume maybe yahll get a lot of complaints or have a lot of issues with previous guest for you to have a sign like that put up .very welcoming and inviting as well as reassuring.....
