I was really disappointed with my stay here from Oct 6–9. I’ll start with the good: breakfast was solid, the staff working the breakfast area were great, and the location was perfect for my needs. However, the room situation was terrible. The first room I checked into was dirty—hair in the corners, floors not swept, and long strands of hair on the mattress when I checked under the sheets. On top of that, there were dead bugs on the floor. The front desk gentleman was professional and moved me to a new room right away, which I appreciated. But the second room had a serious bug problem. At first I saw two, then four, and by the end of the night I had removed five bugs from my room. When I came back from my conference the next day, there were six more. Bugs were also all over the hallway, some alive and some dead. It was disgusting and made it impossible to relax. I didn’t kill the bugs. I wiped in tissue And flush down the toilet because killing them would release a foul odor. They were on the floor and on walls. I’m bald so the long pieces of hair are not mine! I went back to the front desk to explain, and the young lady working didn’t seem to care at all. No apology, no concern, nothing. I worked in hospitality for over 5 years and I know issues happen, but customer service and empathy are basic — and that was completely missing here. I was so uncomfortable I didn’t even stay in my room the last night. I left and stayed with a friend at another hotel. If I return to this area, I most likely won’t stay here again. Photos will be attached.

First, you must pay $14.95 for parking. Nobody told us this when we booked the room! Second, you can't see where to enter the dang hotel, the only sign is way up on the upper left of the hotel. The reason is there are THREE hotels here! Cadillac Jack's, Tru and Springwood Suites. Just enter the middle doors and turn right, take the elevator to the second floor. It says there is a pool and hot tub, but you have to get a key and go all the way to the other end of the complex to use it! We didn't bother, I have a bad back and hip and that's just too far. We should have been told this as well! The room itself was TINY. We had a "hearing accessible" double queen near the lobby. There is NO NIGHT LIGHT so we had to be blinded every time we woke up to go to the bathroom at night. They were supposed to have YouTube and Hulu but they weren't working, even though they've been open for almost two months. No fan in the bathroom and their toiletries provided were weird "not soap, radio" things hanging on the wall that you have to squeeze, always using too much and one was already leaking. This "Tru" chain is obviously geared toward millennials. Hope they like remodeling because the faddish style they chose will be out in a few years... The beds were very comfortable and the room perfectly quiet, that's the only redeeming quality keeping me from getting a refund with their happiness guarantee. We'll be staying at other Hilton hotels from now on, never again at a "Tru". We are a middle-aged family with two tweens.

First, we were really surprised that this hotel was part of a hotel/casino complex. Not a bad thing at all, just a surprise because we booked last minute, for that night. Even though it was busy, it was clean and relatively quiet. The room was comfortable and we had a nice view. We arrived later in the evening and had to hurry to grab a bite to eat, because the restaurants in the complex close around 9/10pm. Breakfast was a little rough. It is only served between 7 & 9am. We arrived around 8:30, it wasn't busy, but several items were empty, so there was a wait while they were refilled. Not the end of the world, but I travel a lot for work and expect more of Hilton. The location was great. Nice areas to walk yourself or doggo. It's close enough to walk downtown. Overall, it was a nice stay.😁 I do wish they would consider toning down the air freshener - smells like vanilla to me, but it was very strong!

First off, this brand of Hilton is TRU-ly incredible for me. I'm an Hilton employee of a Hilton property in Seattle and I always choose them because of my employer discount so I say at a lot of Hilton hotels, this brand was unlike any other Hilton brand I've experienced thus far.. I LOVED it, but I don't think it's for everyone.

When I walked in and asked a few questions about the brand and was told that it was the modern brand geared more toward "millennials" which made me a bit skeptical briefly but sure enough every step after that introduction just got better and better for me. The lobby was complete with many sleek shared areas (couches, foosball tables, an extensiove board game selection, swinging chairs, work/quiet spaces and even a fire pit lounge just outside. What was this strange place masquerading as a hotel?

Several steps further, I got to my room and immediately noticed the lower profile and sleeker design with a lot of hooks, pullout desks, stealthy closets etc. A little smaller than the other units but with an undeniablly charming simplicity. There were no lamps in my bed table but rather three can ceiling lights above my bed. Just above the table were 4 super convenient usb quick charge outlets in the wall as well as 4 conventional outlets. No microwave, No work desk, No Coffee maker but that stuff's all in the lobby anyways. The TV was a very large 55 inch LED and came with all streaming services included (Netflix, Hulu, Prime, Etc)

The bathroom toiletries are very brilliant and green as the toiletries are placed in low profile but attractively designed dispensers.

The breakfast included eggs, sausage, waffles, Greek yogurt station (which I loved) bagel/donut station with a large selection, cereal bar and an assortment of juices. I am not a coffee drinker, but those who were, looked very satisfied at all the flavors and fixings to make their fancy cups of joe.

The Bottom Line: I love this property and I love this brand of Hilton Hotels. It's everything I want and none of what I don't want.. However, I don't think my grandparents would necessarily feel the same way, which is fine. Hilton needs a brand that will be bold and market to the very large market of people who will appreciate those things. If I were the CEO of Hilton, I would be running a huge marketing campaign to let people know what the TRU brand is about. I feel like this brand has the potential to transform the hospitality industry and change the way people think about hotels. I really hope to see a TRU in...

The location of the hotel was easily walkable to Downtown Historic Deadwood, even though it is located at the edge of town. There is also a local shuttle. There is a casino located on the main floor, with the hotel above. Check-in on the 2nd floor. | Know in advance the rooms are very small with no closet or storage. There was a bar with a few hangers on it and some hooks. When I inquired about the lack of storage and space I was told the hotel was designed to resemble a European Hostel. That was not what I was looking for, but I had booked the room already, and we were traveling with another couple, and we wanted to stay together. There is absolutely no unpacking your luggage if you are there for an extended stay. We were there for 2 nights, and we had to rearrange the tiny tables, so we were able to open our 24 inch suitcases at the same time without using the bed. If you are a backpacker it’s fine. If you have children or are staying for an extended amount of time inquire about a larger room, or stay somewhere else. But the bed and pillows were very comfortable.| The lighting in the room was interesting to say the least. It was either off or on with megawatt brightness. The lights located in the ceiling over the head of the bed are super bright, and they are not dimmable. Also there is only 1 switch to operate them on 1 side of the bed. I wish there had been a low watt lamp on the other side of the bed because my husband usually falls asleep an hour or 2 before me. Luckily for me my phone has a flashlight app.| The bathroom was bright and clean with soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion provided, along with a hairdryer. I was easily able to get extra towels.| Coffee, tea and hot chocolate were available 24/7. The breakfast provided was delicious. It was the best on our trip. They have a pancake machine that resembles an Easy bake oven. The fresh pancakes it made were very good, and it was fun to watch! The hotel also provided scrambled eggs, toast, and bagels with a breakfast meat. Oatmeal, 2 different cereals, and fresh fruit were also available. Just go early. Breakfast ends at 9 am sharp. | Know...
