Burrito del Sol- Destin — Restaurant in Destin

Bottom Line: Would recommend. Pet friendly, fast service, simple menu, good food.

Atmosphere: Plenty of natural light during the day. Very quiet. Alternative diner vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Food: I got the Steak Burrito Southwest Style. It was very big, but very dry. I didn't like it.

My companion got the Shrimp Tacos Baja Style. This was so much better. Great flavor and very juicy.

We didn't like the tortilla chips and salsa that it came with at all. The tasted very cheap. Not stale, but not crunchy/crispy like you'd expect them to be.

Service: Not much service for a fast food restaurant but the food came out very quickly.

Overall: I would come back. Just avoid the burritos. It's more food for the price, but lower quality, at least from our experience. Otherwise, decent price, good tacos, and fast service. I would give it a 3.5 if I could. It would have been four stars if the burrito and tortilla chips...

I have been a loyal customer of Burrito Del Sol for years, but after my most recent visit, I can say with certainty that I will never be back. The quality has plummeted to the point of being downright offensive.

The salsa which used to be fresh and flavorful tasted like a watered-down, sour mess, closer to something scraped from the bottom of a jar than anything made in-house. The burrito was the worst burrito I’ve ever had in my life. It was a catastrophe: bland, greasy, and somehow both soggy and dry at the same time. It was an unpleasant chore to even finish half of it.

When I attempted to ask the staff about the decline in quality, I was met with shrugs and dismissive attitudes. Not once did anyone offer to help, explain, or even acknowledge the problem. The indifference was almost as unappetizing as the food itself.

Burrito Del Sol serves delicious but questionably good authentic Mexican food. I like the flavor styles they incorporate because they’re unique, for instance I love the Baja style and pineapple salsa, but for the past few years they haven’t really changed up their styles of food which makes enjoying Burrito Del Sol kind of played out once you’ve had it more than a couple times, but I’m still going to say it’s worthy of 4 stars and I would recommend if you’re a tourist because they do serve great food so it’s always worth trying. Service tends to be okay, it’s sort of an order and sit down style which I prefer but I would say I prefer Fort Walton Beach’s location a little more than the Destin just for location’s ease of access.
