First Watch — Restaurant in Destin

I wasn't sure what to expect when I parked and got ready to walk to the front door in my bathing suit and t-shirt looking for a quick bite before I hit the beach. I was even less sure of what to expect when I saw a few of the other cars in the parking lot (they were higher end sports cars and mine wasn't). However, when I got inside, I was greeted in a friendly manner and shown to a table. The interior design is a cross between modern/ contemporary & a bit of old school barn. It was very nice and well laid out. I was offered coffee and given a menu.

A carafé of cold water was brought out as well as a pot of coffee. I poured myself a cup as I looked over the menu and was pleased to find the coffee was strong and fresh. Looking at the menu there were a number of options to choose from. If you are on a restrictive diet (keto) your choices are going to be more limited but there are still a number of options to choose from. After being given just the right amount of time to peruse the menu, the waitress returned to take my order. I chose the ham & gruyère omelette.

In about 7 minutes or so, my food was brought out and I was pleased with the taste. The ham did appear to be deli sliced ham which I was slightly disappointed in, but not to the point of feeling it worth taking a star away.

As I ate, I was checked on a couple of times, but not pestered. I noticed a number of other people come in as the morning progressed. The patrons ranged from the business men in the fancy cars to families with children with similar plans to mine (hit the beach after eating). So my family and I went here for breakfast yesterday morning. It was a 45 minute wait. We walked around and came back to check after 45 minutes since we had not received a text. We got back and there was one party waiting although there were tables available inside and outside. They kept saying the kitchen was backed up. We sat outside and finally our server came out to take our orders. The wait for food was long and my son’s waffle was chocolate chip instead of plain. I initially was going to leave a negative review but my server changed that. Overall the food was decent. I did not appreciate the long wait times to be seated and for the food. However, I accidentally left my purse at the restaurant and made it back to my hotel before realizing. Well guess what…I called back up there and my server actually answered the call and said she had my purse. She immediately got it when she saw it and locked it up. My husband drove us back up there to get it. I wanted to give her a tip but we were all moving so fast. My husband stopped in the street so I could run in. My server was walking fast towards the door with my purse as I was running in. I had to rush back to the car in the road. I didn’t catch her name but thank you so much much! Great food, nice atmosphere, and amazing service. I will definitely visit again if I have the opportunity.

Great place for breakfast for anyone from a single person, a couple, to a large family.

Upon entering they had a nice little waiting area which was useful, because they were busy. The hostess took our information, and instructed us where to wait. It didn't take us long to get seated though. The atmosphere and decor were nice. There were little touches they had that made it special for us. We sat inside, but they had a nice seating area outside as well.

The price was a little higher than I anticipated for breakfast. However, the breakfast was really delicious, authentic, and seasoned incredibly well without being overdone. The coffee was great too!

Our waitress was extremely nice, patient, and helpful. She assisted us with not only taking our order, but with understanding what would come with the order and what was in the dishes. She was very knowledgeable on the menu and the ingredients of the items on it. She brought additional creamers, of which they had a good variety. They coffee came in a little carafe that stayed at our table. This was nice, because as we sat there chatting and enjoying our breakfast we were able to have more hot fresh coffee without having to find or get a waiter/waitress to bring it.
