LongHorn Steakhouse — Restaurant in Dover

August 2023: We were told the wait would be at least 25 minutes. No room to sit or stand in the waiting area. Hostess said we could grab a table in the bar instead of waiting; she also informed us they had a party of 20 arriving soon. We took a table in the bar and immediately the bartender yelled at us saying they do not serve food at the bar tables, only at the bar. We explained the hostess said we could, do he just sighed and said "they change things and never tell me." We ordered drinks and the meal right away to get ahead of the party of 20. Drinks were brought and then we waited another 50 minutes to get our food 😳 Not sure if the bartender forgot to put the order in or they were really that slow. Steaks were cooked to order, but they had not put any seasoning on them...NONE. Without the onions and mushrooms, the steak would have been horrible. Salad was good, but then there was the baked sweet potato. I ordered it with brown sugar and cinnamon. Apparently they ran out of brown sugar and they dumped about 2 heaping Tablespoons of white sugar on the sweet potato. No cinnamon at all. By the time I realized there was table sugar on the sweet potato, a lot of it had melted with the butter and seeped into the potato. I managed to scrape about a teaspoon off. It was like eating a candy coated sweet potato, only candied on the inside. Who does that?! This is not McDonald's or Burger King!! This is a steakhouse where a $50 meal is average. I can't believe they hire cooks who must have worked in diners. I hate that we had to pay for this meal because it was horrible!

Feb 2022:. We were told it would be a 20-25 min wait. The host took the name and we informed him we would sit at a table in the bar area until called. 35 min later, I went to find out what the status was. A very young Hostess with no manners or professional demeanor said, I called you out and you didn't show up. The place was so loud, it would have been easy to not hear her. But then they knew we were sitting there waiting. Waiter was great and the food was average. Maybe I ewait another year and try again. But, them again, some things just never change for the better.

Jan 2020:. This place has a death-wish. Walked in and stood for 5 minutes trying to get someones attention. Finally, a waitress said she would go find the hostess 😳. The hostess acted like we just ruined her day by showing up. She took us to s booth, dropped the menues on the table, and walked off without a word 😠. Our waitress was great and assured us the "good chef" was on duty and the salty steaks would not be a repeat. Food was good and service was also. Just can't get past the beginning with the hostess.

December 2019: I am down-grading my review from s 4 to a 3. The last several visits have resulted in less than favorable outcomes. Most recent visit, the steaks were so salty we couldn't eat them ( and I like salt). When the waitress finally came back to the table, she apologized and reordered the steaks and mushrooms. Round two steaks were still very salty, under cooked, and the mushrooms never did show up before we left. We were told the chef was 'new'.

The same deal every visit with the seating also. Plenty of tables and booths open, but I guess they don't have waitresses to take care of them.

Really crowded and we had a 20 minute wait; however there were plenty of empty tables and booths. Our waiter was very absent-minded and we finally got bread half way through the meal. Food was excellent and portions we're more than ample. Next visit, very crowded. A 10 - 15 minute wait turned into 20. Waitress was not very experienced. Part of the order came late. Only checked back once during the meal, but checked twice to see if the check was ready to ring up. She never even asked if we wanted dessert. Food was average. Their new cauliflower side dish looked much better in...

It's been about a year since the last review. They have some dishes I really like when they are done correctly so I keep thinking "maybe they've worked out the issues so I'll try them again. Service has been dismissive and rude in the past. Today I waited 30 minutes on hold. It gave me too much time to remember past issues. They finally answered as I was about to hang up. I said that I had been on hold for 30 minutes and wouldn't be able to drive over there. He says, "oh I'm sorry about that". That's it. Smh. Its better than some of the attitude ive gotten from them in the past but still unacceptable. I've been waiting for the place to turn around and operate like the other locations, but (looking at some of the recent reviews) maybe it's just not going to happen. No accountability. About a month ago I wrote the review below. Tonight I placed a salmon order over an hour before closing time. They seemed annoyed to have another customer. They told me when it would be ready. We arrived on time paid and took it home. The majority of the center of the salmon is raw. It literally looks like raw chicken breast. I ate around the raw part and stopped. I'm so frustrated I had to come back and reduce the already low rating. It is so hit or miss with this place. Not worth it. I'll cook the salmon myself tomorrow but I really shouldn't have to do that. I see below a review from Marlon Harlow saying the chopped steak was raw a few days ago. Something seems wrong in this place. I called in a carside order and they give me a pickup time. I arrive 25 minutes early (I was not far away when I placed the order). About 10 or 15 minutes later I receive a check in link for carside service so I check in and wait in the carside parking spot. I make a personal call, watch a few videos and then realize that it is now 20 minutes past the pick up time. So I call in and say that I've been outside waiting and my pick up time was twenty minutes ago but no one has come out. The guy behind the bar says he doesn't have any carside people tonight. Why didn't they say that when I placed the carside order? Then he tells me to come in while he "throws" my order together. I come in and wait some more because apparently it still wasn't ready. When I looked at it parts of it looked as if he had literally thrown it together. And he put one of the boxes on its side for some reason causing food to drip out. Good thing I caught it before it made a huge mess. And he didn't give any salad dressing. All in all the service felt careless and dismissive. Not their best night but I've ordered from them before without a problem so I will keep coming unless this...

Last night I went with 3 others for a late night meal expecting great food but instead we got a great waiter with terrible food and unsanitary restaurant conditions. For starters, the booth we were sitting in smelled like urine. Then there were these slightly smaller than a tack size gnats flying around so I looked up and they were all over the walls and the shelf right above the side of our table against the wall. We asked the waiter to move and he was very accommodating. Polite gentleman. We ordered some alcoholic drinks which were tasty except my friends tequila sunrise, it tasted like flavored water. The food came out and we noticed how charred both of the orders of brussel sprouts were, as well as both orders of salmon and my boyfriends shrimp skewers. We hadn’t been here in quite some time so we thought maybe that’s how it’s supposed to look. We proceeded to eat and just when we thought it could get worse, it did. My friends steak was cooked perfectly but salty as sea water, the salmon was cooked to perfection but bland, the brussel sprouts were extremely overdone and we couldn’t even eat those. The shrimp skewers were a bit burned and hard to eat. And my boyfriends fries tasted stale and soggy. The rice was good. I think end of the meal our waiter noticed we hadn’t touched the brussels sprouts and offered to get us something else in place of it and refund our money for them but we declined. We told him it was alright. He brought us our checks and informed us that he had taken both orders of brussel sprouts off anyway and he apologized if the meal was not up to standard. We thanked him, paid and tipped, and we left. It’s a shame because the best part about the experience was the waiter who was very attentive and generous. We all wanted to like the food badly but it just was not a good night to eat there I suppose. Wish I had taken pictures of those bug...
