This hotel is a fantastic place to stay with beautiful views of Lake Superior and an interesting history. The rooms could be better for the price, but they are great rooms. The hotel used to be a brewery. When you enter your room there is a detailed book discussing its history. When you walk around the hotel (which has shops all along the bottom floor) you are walking in an interesting museum which has explanations intermittently placed for your viewing pleasure. There are also whimsical tones in pockets located throughout the shops level. We had a lake view on the second floor which (my husband had arranged) was blocked partially by a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the table that you can’t miss as you look out magnificent Lake Superior. There is a boardwalk for you to walk along and enjoy the scene for miles along the riverfront. There are fantastic restaurants close by; La Bene (I may have the name spelled incorrectly) had the best fettuccine I have ever tasted a couple of doors down from Fitger’s with a train running almost under the restaurant with Lake Superior on the other side of the train. You can hear the waves meeting the shore while you eat. The beds were very comfortable and clean. I wish there was a tub though. It’s also crazy expensive. I would love to be richer!!!

A very beautiful hotel in a historic brewery. When you stay here you are staying in a bit of history. Our room was a double King Dulex (Handicapped) room. We had a nice view of the lake however the window was fairly small. The room, being a handicapped room, included a large shower but no tub. My wife enjoys relaxing in a bath so it was disappointing that a tub was not available. The room was very clean and nice but still what one would find in a lesser priced room. We paid 350 per night so definitely were paying for the historical and location aspect which my wife felt was totally worth it. They have free parking in a lot just south of the hotel. The entrance is just past, south, of the Pickwick Restaurant.

Tucked away in the scenic city of Duluth, Minnesota, you'll find Fitger's Inn, a truly delightful and historic gem that offers a charming retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. With its unique blend of old-world charm and modern amenities, Fitger's Inn makes for a memorable and comfortable stay in this picturesque corner of the world.

Stepping into Fitger's Inn feels like stepping back in time, as the beautifully restored building exudes an ambiance of yesteryear. The stunning red brick façade and the impressive smokestack are an ode to the property's roots as a brewery, seamlessly blending history and hospitality.

The rooms at Fitger's Inn are cozy and thoughtfully appointed, providing the perfect refuge after a long day of exploring the wonders of Duluth. You'll find comfortable beds that beckon for a good night's sleep, along with luxurious linens that make it hard to say goodbye in the morning. The thoughtful in-room amenities, such as the fireplace and whirlpool tub in some rooms, elevate the experience to new heights of relaxation and enjoyment.

One of the true highlights of a stay at Fitger's Inn is the variety of dining and entertainment options available just steps from your room. With a selection of delightful restaurants, shops, and even a microbrewery on site, there is something to suit every taste and preference. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the several restaurants, indulge in a craft beer at the brewery, or simply take a leisurely stroll along the charming boardwalk.

The staff at Fitger's Inn are attentive and accommodating, always ready to offer a friendly smile and helpful advice on local attractions and activities. Their warm welcome and genuine hospitality truly make you feel like a valued guest.

If we had one minor quibble, it would be that the walls can be a bit thin, occasionally allowing for some noise to seep through from neighboring rooms or the bustling activity of the complex. However, this small inconvenience does little to detract from the overall charm and appeal of the inn.

Located in the heart of Duluth, Fitger's Inn provides an ideal base for exploring the city's vibrant downtown and the breathtaking beauty of Lake Superior. The scenic Lakewalk, Canal Park, and other local attractions are just a short stroll away, making it easy to discover the magic of Duluth during your stay.

In summary, Fitger's Inn is a delightful, historic haven that offers guests an unforgettable and comfortable experience. With its charming character, thoughtful amenities, and convenient location, this inn has all the makings of a perfect Duluth getaway. Though the occasional noise issue prevents it from being a flawless stay, the inn remains a solid choice for travelers seeking a memorable, 4-star experience in the...

Arrived to the restaurant actually being closed due to a ventilation issue (?) The host let us know and told us they couldn't serve any food - no problem, we just came for Cherry Batch! He directed us to the bar across the hallway (formerly Red Star, now The Barrel Room?) where it was very busy with only one bartender working the bar. Bartender skipped around taking orders and a waitress bringing glasses of the special beer from the tap in the restaurant asked us if that's what we were getting, we said yes and she came back with a few glasses of beer for us and set them behind the bar, told us to let the bartender know and he'd sell them to us. Instead of that, the bartender started distributing the beers to people that had come in after us but managed to place their order ahead of us due to the chaos. I understood the first or second time it happened, but by the third time we just packed up and left. This was a frustrating but not unexpected experience at a Fitger's establishment that has continued to drop the ball and lower the bar on service. It's trashing their reputation with locals, but as they push further and further away from being a local institution and more of a tourist destination for out-of-towners, I doubt a review like this matters much to management. As a side note: as much as I'd have liked to vote with my wallet and go anywhere but another Fitger's property - the pull of the delicious cherry batch is a strong one. We went to Burrito Union and, actually, I'm glad we did. We got our beers with absolutely zero drama, got excellent service from a friendly waitress sympathetic to our Cherry Batch misadventure and just had a lovely time in general. Maybe proximity to the lake is inversely related to quality of the establishment. Dunno, but the 2017 Cherry Batch is incredible. Just do your best to get it somewhere that isn't in the...

It is a historic building with good water views and extremely poor ventilation and extremely bad air flow. This is a dog friendly hotel so you can imagine the various of pet urine and old musty odors. If you ask the front desk for a fan they will give you one. But I feel like you shouldn’t need to ask, it needs to be a staple in the room.

The staff was always very kind and accommodating. If you do travel with a pup you can ask for a dog bed at the front desk. I also noticed they had different dogs behind the counter so they might keep an eye on your pet if you needed. Everywhere we went was dog friendly along the strip.

The daily paper at the front door is definitely a nice touch. Room service line never answered for me so I just walked down to the restaurant for breakfast. The view is gorgeous. Side note. Take an older relative on a scooter adventure. They sit right outside and just download the app and go. It’s so much fun. Trust me they will love it and you will have lots of laughs together.

The food at the brewers bar was delicious but because it’s really one of two places that is either good to eat or even open the service takes forever. But drinks can help the long dark wait.

The reason this hotel received 4 stars is solely because of location and being dog friendly. We won’t be staying here again mostly because of bad smells, air and ventilation quality. With that said it was our first time in Duluth and I’m glad we had the experience of...
