Odyssey Resorts — Hotel in Duluth

My husband and I booked a room at Odyssey owened Mountain Inn at Lutsen to celebrate our five-year anniversary. When we arrived at our check-in time, we were told that there was no room for us! The hotel had overbooked. They could, however, book us into one of their more expensive rooms at the property down the road (with no discount). The hotel, despite having my phone number, never called or texted to tell us that the hotel was overbooked. We were told it was "a known issue" with their booking software that "had been happening for about two weeks."

It was just bait and switch.

We had just come in from hiking ten miles and had driven five hours away from home. We were looking forward to a hot shower and a place to relax and instead had to get back into our car and drive the five hours home because we couldn't afford their more expensive property. It completely ruined our anniversary getaway, there was no offer to really make things right, and I can't imagine what would have happened if we had to check in late.

Odyssey Resorts owns multiple properties across the North Shore. I would encourage you not to book with any of them. I would give them zero...

Can't even imagine a more greedy company. How many upgrades have owners made to their units and still the old photos and inaccurate description of the property. They charge maintenance fees that include $33 to change a light bulb, they have preventative maintenance but it is only check marks on paper, if anything needs fixed that is billed separate, likely not fixed. If they buy a new towel for the condo they add 20% to the bill. This company is greedy, greedy, do yourself a favor and buy or rent somewhere else. Customer service is poor, front desk manager won't even look up from his screen to greet a guest. My boyfriend and I have stayed at their location in Grand Marais several times over the past few years. East Bay Suites is an excellent location to soak up phenomenal views of Lake Superior. It is approximately 100 feet from the shoreline. If you get a lake view room you will be completely immersed by the sound, smell and sight of its beauty. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, spacious and the decor is also lovely. The fireplace in both the bedroom and living room is perfect.
