This is a nice hotel for the most part but there are some obvious issues that need to be corrected. The good things about the hotel is the location, which is right in Gettysburg butted up to the historic Evergreen Cemetery where John Burns and Jennie Wade are buried, as well as being right on the battleground. Nice. The rooms seemed clean and the beds were comfortable. Our room was big, which was nice, and I loved the fact that there were more than enough electrical outlets in order to charge all of the technical devices. Also nice! Now for the bad. While I love all people and don't hold prejudice, I have to say that the staff here is Indian and they are RUDE!!!!! They are not friendly. They do not try to be friendly. They stare and scowl at you and when you try to be nice, they ignore you. However, when we were checking out, and it was not time to yet so we were going to get breakfast and take our time to load our car, etc., the cleaning staff had cleaned all the way down to our room. They lingered and stayed right outside our room as if waiting for us to leave. We are not the bullying kind so we stuck our sign in the door and told them that we were in fact NOT leaving yet and we would let them know later. (They just stayed there and acted offended). We got breakfast, which was not all that great by the way. I would give it a 2 out of 5 (5 being the Best on the scale). Also there was not enough room for everyone to get in freely and get breakfast. Very packed. ...Back to the cleaning staff. We took the luggage rack up to load our luggage and yes, they are still waiting outside of our room. We took our time. Our money, our vacation and we don't care if they wait right up until the last minute. We were both pretty ticked at this time. When we took the luggage rack out of our room, I had to tell the guy (who was now in the room across the hall cleaning that room) to move his cart so we could get out of our room, and that we were still NOT finished with our room so they could wait all they want but they had better not go into our room. We were more than mad at this point. The elevator is slower than dirt so it is not easy to move people in and out when you are coming off the upper floors. We come back and pick up the rest and get ready to leave. They are still standing outside of our door and still very scowling and RUDE!!! It is obvious they do not care to either 1) do their job and have a pleasant attitude, or 2) they do not like the patrons or Americans ....I could not tell which was the more annoying. We did relay this info to the front desk (American) lady, Francis/Francine (?) (long black hair with glasses). She was more than nice and more than helpful. We did complain to her and she was going to make sure it did get passed on. We asked if the owner is also of the Indian Culture, and was informed that he is. Makes sense now. The owner needs to bone up on public relations and train his staff very well because right now, they are horrible!!!! We had come from the Holiday Inn in town and due to rates, we switched to Comfort Inn for our last day. Holiday Inn staff is very nice and friendly, as are all their staff. It is extremely clean and their elevator works at a reasonable speed. ......So Francis/Francine was the most helpful and apologized for something she really has no control over. The owner needs to get it together or go back to his Native Country and open a hotel there. Either way, the owner and the cleaning staff need to learn some public relation skills and manners. Francis should be promoted or get a raise after dealing with those people because I sure wouldn't be...
Read moreIt has always been my husband and I's dream vacation to visit Gettysburg National Military Park. Our travel agent did a very nice job booking this hotel. It was clean, staff was very friendly, especially the two at the front desk during the day. I can't remember their names. It was a guy and a lady. So, now many of you know I do very honest reviews with a pros and cons list. So here we go. At the end, please give me a follow. Pros: Located in the heart of Gettysburg The rooms were very clean The staff was friendly (except for one, explanation later in the post) The elevator working properly and clean Everything was dusted (a few minor issues will be listed in the Cons section) Microwave was clean The bathroom was well-stocked Housekeeping will not enter the room unless you ask for it, except for the third day of the visit, however, you can call and request them not to. You can also call and request if you need anything or ask a housekeeper on the floor during their cleaning hours. Parking lot clean Close to cemeteries, if you are a ghost hunter or interested in the paranormal, this is the must-go to hotel, the cemetery is located right behind it. Breakfast was amazing, and served within decent hours. Offers water and tea in the lobby The manager was very nice and helpful. Extra USB plugs to keep those electronics charged The lights worked very well No signs of bed bugs or insect issues Best pricing on booking of rooms Near most food or grocery stores, even for deliveries.
Cons: The pool was not heated as it said, however, was a very comfortable temperature, due to the hotness outside. The pool area could use an upgrade (otherwise still very relaxing) Refrigerators need updating Some minor details, need to be paid attention to, such as the bathroom door needing to be wiped down after check-outs Mirrors and windows need to be washed Stair rails need to be wiped down, otherwise, it was kept very clean The air conditioner kept cutting on and off, and we were struggling to keep it in a comfortable setting. Doors to rooms need to be checked, ours kept getting stuck, but not too bad. Ok back to that one person that was very unfriendly. She works nights and was very rude to us when we came a few days earlier. Understandably, we did not have a reservation for those two days, but she was raising her voice to my husband in front of others, just because he had a mask on(he is having dental work, and he feels uncomfortable when not wearing a mask. However, she didn't have to be that loud. We waited at the front desk for about 5-7 minutes before we even saw her, for assistance. Then she proceeded to tell us there were no rooms available. Which we understand, but she didn't even look, she pretended to look. Which we did talk to the manager the next day and he said they had rooms available. She made that hotel look terrible, I was ready to get another hotel and cancel the reservation we had. However, as I said, the manager is very nice and he took care of it. I'm honestly glad we stayed here, we made memories and met good people, and the rest of the staff was extremely friendly.
I do highly recommend...
Read moreWe recently stayed at this hotel for a family reunion, with multiple generations from children to grandparents in their 90s. The location was perfect for us, and we felt truly welcomed and taken care of.||From the start, the front desk staff was consistently helpful and courteous. A special mention goes to Manager Dave, who proactively contacted me a few days before our arrival to inform me about the scheduled elevator maintenance. He offered to move rooms to accommodate our elderly guests who wouldn't be able to use the stairs.||Scott, Misty, and Barbara also made our stay incredibly comfortable. Scott worked tirelessly to resolve key card issues, ensuring our extended stay went smoothly. Lia, the breakfast café QUEEN, was a delight. She greeted us by name every morning and made sure we had everything we needed, even accommodating us when we used the breakfast area for games and snacks.||Our rooms were clean and comfortable, though the pull-out sofa was a bit small and not ideal for adults—more suitable for one child. The mini fridge worked but didn't stay very cold, though it was fine for chilling a few items.||Breakfast offered a variety of options, though the quality could be improved. The egg omelet with cheese was questionable, and the sausage wasn’t great, but we appreciated the abundance of packaged hard-boiled eggs. The kids loved the pancake and waffle makers, and the hot food options were a nice touch. The coffee, however, could use some improvement.||Overall, for the price, the amenities were satisfactory, and our experience was phenomenal. We left feeling grateful for the wonderful service and the great memories made...
