My wife and I stayed here for a weekend away in Helen. We arrived later in the evening, and greeted by friendly staff who walked us through the anemities and explained how everything worked before handing us the keys. I noticed coming in that they offer nightly stays too, and that's cool. There was plenty to do in the complex, tennis courts, a playground, indoor pool, they even offered group based activities on certain days. My wife attended a wreath making class. Probably the best thing about the place was the location. Right next to the river and a block away from downtown Helen. You can walk there. Great for Octoberfest, let me tell you. I knocked off a star because the condo itself was kind of ho-hum. The beds were okay, the bathrooms serviceable (with tiny toilets), the fridge had dents in it, and the TVs were all small and some old. Some people might like that but I could not grasp the fact that I used to enjoy watching TV from a tube. The decor was classic mountain rental with bears and pine trees abound. Speaking of bears, we ran into some real ones while sitting by the river one night, but that should be expected in the mountains and they do warn you that bears tend to wonder the grounds. All in all the location made Loreley a great stay especially since we spent most of our time downtown or at the state parks that are close by. That being said, if I had been looking to just chill in the condo, this would've been a...
Read moreA journey back in time. Revisit the 80's! Totally retro. Small screen tvs, corded telephones, white walls with stained trim and interior doors. Nothing about this place is modern. The beds are as comfortable as sleeping on the floor or up in a tree hanging off a tree limb. They are small singles and short queens. I'm 6'3 and my feet hang off the end of all the beds. However, if you are on the river, the views are stunning on the back deck. So its not all bad. But if you were born in the 90s or 2000 era, you can see what it felt like to live in the 80s. I kid you not! I always feel like a kid again in this place. If you put away your phone and laptop. Just use what is in the rooms. You will see what it was like to live in the 80s. It's clean though. Just rickety and needing a little reinforcement on the floors. A ton of cracking going on. This was upscale living in the 80s. The ceiling fan in the master was top notch back then. I really love that ceiling fan. (Not being funny) those were always in the rich peoples houses in the 80s. Do I recommend this place? Absolutely! But not for more than a night. You will leave crippled from the beds. They are terrible. Even one night on the beds will stiffen you up pretty good. Not to mention the sheets are more in line with sandpaper than linen. If you were a kid in the 80s, you owe it to yourself to go back in time and see how far we have come! 5 stars on...
