I would give zero stars if I could. I would not recommend placing any orders from this place at all. I came here in July and did the gem mining. After seeing the jewelry that was in the store and hearing that they have been doing this for years I decided to trust them and I placed an order to get stones cut. I showed the man exactly what I was wanting to do with the stones and he RECOMMEND me what size to get them cut. I ordered 4 round gems to be cut in order to make a pawprint ring in memorial of my dog who had recently passed and this was his last trip with us. My order was placed the same day as a friends that was with me. He received his order within less than a month. I received mine 2 months later after multiple phone calls on the status of my order. The first time I called I was told I would receive a call back within the hour. The next 2 phone calls where the same. I finally got a phone call one day saying my order was on the way and was given a tracking number. I checked that tracking number and the package had just been dropped off that morning. At this point I was thinking that my order was obviously forgotten about. When I received the gems they were all cut different and I was honestly extremely disappointed. They were cut absolutely nothing like the ones in the store. Some are not even completely round but oval. I contacted them about this as I felt they did a rushed job on this since they obviously forgot about my order and was told it was not rushed and the stones were to small to cut.... but if they were to small to cut I obviously should have been told this at the time of placing the order or maybe not even recommend that size. There is a big lack in customer service here so do not bother wasting your money here. The experience was not worth it. After looking at the reviews it looks like this is not the first time they have forgotten and order and rushed on the it. Please work on your customer service and...
Read moreDon't waste your time or money here. I've been going to gem mining with the family for years and have never experienced such a low level of service, customer care or gems.
We picked out the biggest bucket option they have and we had to empty almost a third of it before finding the first stones. You get absolutely nothing in the buckets, you would have a better chance of picking in the dirt outside or just buying stones directly inside.
When we brought our disappointment to the man working, he had absolutely zero response and had no care to amend the situation. I wanted to leave the sad small bag of stones for them to recycle but they literally had no response.
It's nothing but a tourist trap and sadly we decided to stop there instead of going to our normal places in Dahlonega. Even the kids at the tables around us were saying "Mommy, we aren't getting anything, we used to get lots of stones here and there's nothing in this bucket". You could tell they had no desire to keep customers happy and just wanted to take your money. Just sad, as a business you should provide a good experience and product. We got neither and neither did the guests around us. They lost several...
Read moreThis was super cool and well worth the price! My daughter absolutely loved it. First, you pick your bucket based on what you want to find: gems, fossils, minerals or gold. The guy at the counter said you're guaranteed to find gold in every bucket but the smallest one takes about an hour to pan. We chose a fossil bucket. Second, you find a place to sit on one of the benches in front of a tray and then scoop a shovel of dirt in it. Third, lower the tray in the water and sift the dirt out. Finally, prepare to be amazed at all the treasures! You can see our first tray vs the end result. It was pretty cool. They give you an identification card too. That took about 20 minutes. We ended up going back to the counter and choosing the smallest gold bucket and my 10yo daughter and I shared it. He demonstrated how to pan for gold and found our first piece (hence the guarantee?). It was time consuming and difficult as warned. Definitely not as rewarding for a child so I'd skip if they are young. Took us about 35 minutes together and you sit at a separate water trough for gold panning. My daughter appreciated how difficult it must have been for early gold miners. I highly recommend...
