Alpine valley inn — Hotel in Helen

Be careful booking in this place. I made a reservation on 12/31 late afternoon. I was told that there was 1 room left. I told the women who took my reservation to make sure my reservation was secure. She took my credit card information. We drove 7.5 hrs to get there around 11:30 PM on 12/31. The office door was locked and I asked some people if there was someone onsite, as I was a late check in. The lady outside told me the lady in charge would be right back. A lady finally came and opened the office door. She checked on the laptop and said there was no reservation under my name and I even described the entire scenario of my reservation booking. She denied everything. I told her I was concerned as my credit card info was given. She even called the owner while I was there and he hung up the phone on her. My husband and I were left without a hotel stay at midnight on New Year's eve, after driving 7.5 hrs. I was upset and concerned about my credit card info. After leaving this place, I had to call all over to find a hotel and was lucky to find a last room available in the town of Cornelia, which was 30 minutes away. Next morning (1/1/21), I checked my bank account and these corrupted individuals processed a charge on my credit card of $237 and change. I immediately called the and the same women answered the phone and denied that I was even there the night before. I told her about the fraudulent charge on my credit card and she just kept arguing with me. I told her I would dispute the charge as a FRAUDULENT charge. People, stay away from this place. This is not a way to treat tourist that are coming into such a beautiful little town! No consideration or respect...

I wanted to give this location a 4 or 5 star. The lady at check-in was amazing! One of our better experiences with a front desk person at hotels and motels. The property is in a great location. Not far from all the fun and restaurants etc.

The problem started with the door to the room. It was very difficult to open and close. It was like the door was too big for the frame, (seriously). The room itself has a fresh coat of the local home Depot discontinued pair, which is fine. The colors were ok and clean. The walls had huge patch spots that made it feel a little trashy, i won't lie. The bed was pretty comfortable, but we were exhausted. The physical sleeping area was pretty clean, no dust trash etc.

The sink area was clean and sufficient.

The bathroom was a different story. It smelled of Mildew and Mold! Big disappointment. The shower knob was barely holding on. It flipped around like a slinky from the 80s ( best way I can describe it) The towels were clean but damp. My guess is the dryer is probably worn out. Damp towels after a shower makes you feel unclean.

The complimentary breakfast is some yogurt, muffins, weird sausage biscuits, cereal and bananas and some oranges. It's enough to get you to a real breakfast or brunch/lunch. Kids can fill up on it.

Overall it's not a bad place. If I was the owner I would tweak each room as you go along and finances allow it. A good smelling room and bathroom with dry towels and proper functioning shower would make the place pretty nice.

Would I stay here again? Yes, if the price is right I will give them another shot. The kindness really won us over. Good safe...

Absolutely would never stay at this place Based on my treatment over the phone! We got lost on our way home traveling and needed a place to stay. I called the hotel and asked for a room. Yes, it was 1 AM and I completely understood if they could not accommodate me. The lady who answered the phone sounded like I just woke her up, and proceeded to cuss me out and tell me even if she had a room she would not rent it to me because it’s 1 AM. I waited a few days to call back and hopefully speak to the owner. The same lady Answered the phone.. I explained to her the reason why I called the other night to get a room at 1 AM is because we got lost, And I had my parents and my kids with me and we were just needing a place to stay on the way home from Daytona. I asked her if she was aware that she cussed at me for calling her when it’s a 24 hour hotel. She said There is no telling what people say to people when you call them that late at night, and she was Sorry we got lost, but we need to plan our trip better next time. I could not imagine what our experience would’ve been like staying here if this was our experience just trying to get a room. Whoever owns this place needs to be well aware that their staff is this rude completely unapologetic for...
