Very SHAMEFUL behavior from multiple employees here, but I'm only going to focus on the worst one in this review! As most of you know, when shopping at Aldi's you can either pay to use a cart, OR you can use your own bags, and in either case, the cashier, (who is seated by the way), will place your items in a cart reserved for this purpose, from which you will remove/bag/carry out your items. Sounds simple enough, right? On this particular day, I arrived at the checkout wearing a face mask, as I have an elderly person living in my home with chemotherapy and have to avoid any illness as much as possible. Many people seem to have an instant prejudice against mask wearers. In any case, it is inappropriate. This woman had a nasty grimace on her face, did not greet me, and began THROWING my items into her cart. One of my items flew through the air onto the floor, and she did not apologize, nor did she move off of her chair to pick it up. I waited to see what she would do, but she simply continued tossing my items roughly into the cart. At the end, I realized I had been OVERCHARGED by her ringing up one item 3 extra times, so I politely brought this to her attention. She loudly yelled in my face "I can't hear you with that mask on". I was rather shocked by this but calmly and politely let her know that she had overrang one of my items 3 extra times and that I would need to be refunded. She gave me a nasty glare and when I asked her to assist me with my card for the return she angrily said "your card does not accept returns" (which of course is nonsense as it is a major bank card)! So I had to ask her to repeat the process, and I pressed the credit card button instead of the debit and it went through. I am 100% positive that she knows this, as I have seen this same woman working here for YEARS. She did not apologize for her mistake. In any case, as I was bagging my items (I picked up the item she had thrown on the floor myself), I told her that in future, if she drops an item she should pick it up and if she makes a mistake on ringing up an order, she should apologize. I was very polite and calm while saying this to her. She immediately got defensive, angry and aggressive. She said "I have been very patient with you". I asked what did she mean by that, and she said "you didn't even have a cart". (Which had nothing to do with her throwing my item on the floor, not picking it up and over ringing my item). I informed her calmly that at Aldi, customers are not required to purchase the use of a cart, because they have the option of bringing their own bags. To this she replied loudly, "I know but... I can't do this with you. Do you want to speak to a manager"? I replied "No, of course not. I was simply letting you know that it was very rude to throw my item on the floor, not apologize, not pick it up, and not apologize for over ringing my item". She then attempted to gain the sympathy of the entire checkout line by loudly saying "I guess you're right, I'm a terrible person". At that point I just laughed to myself and left. I know when I'm dealing with a narcissist and someone with anger management issues. HOWEVER... The reason this incident is important is that if we, as Americans, continue to ignore the increasing DECLINE OF BASIC, DECENT CUSTOMER SERVICE, we will end up living in a third-world type of community, and I can tell you, as someone who travels extensively, it is often less than pleasant just to get yourself some bread and meat at a market. This is America, and we MUST demand better standards for ourselves and our communities. If we do not, conditions will deteriorate more than they already have If you take a moment to read the reviews people have left for this and other businesses, you will find that far too many employees have been allowed to mistreat customers and/or are not properly supervised/trained. I worked in HR for many years, I have watched over the years the shocking and FAST decline of basic human decency. We MUST call this out whenever we see it, and we must...
Read moreMy experience was very poor at this location. I've been shopping at this location on occasion. But this experience was espesially bad. I went to check out, the cashier was going too fast, didn't check the cash I had given her was correct, punched in that I had given exact bills and change in coins (I had given exact change in coins, but not the bills), when she paused to do the math in her head I then realized what I had given her was short and gave her more to cover it, she gave me my change, then I stepped away to bag my groceries, then she came up to me saying she had given me the wrong change, so I gave back the extra. When I thought about it for a second, checked my wallet, and remembered exactly how much I gave her, I enquired to the cashier that the change I had ended up with was wrong. She shut her lane down, went to supposedly count her drawer in a back room with a manager, without telling me what she was doing, then came back out. While starting to ring up other customers, she told me that her drawer wasn't over, I insisted that the change was still wrong, then she called the manager up, she also insisted that the drawer wasn't over and wouldn`t give me the correct change back. All in all, both the cashier and manager were rude and managed to steal from me. I'm still 100% possitive of the money I gave the cashier and the change I was supposed to get back. I have been very pleased shopping at a different location and will not be returning to...
Read moreThe prices are definitely lower and that's great, but I'm not sure that's enough to get me to come back after my first experience. I had never been to an Aldi store, but I had heard about them online and thought I knew what to expect (quarter for a cart rental, bagging your own items, etc). I only wanted a few items so I decided not to get a cart. When I got to the checkout, I mentioned I was a new customer. The cashier said that I would have to bag my own items, and since I didn't bring a cart I couldn't take the one she had on stand by, ok, no problem. I grabbed a bag and asked if it was OK to just set it on the cart to put my items in. She said no, I have to bag them "over there" and gestured to a counter along the wall. After she finished ringing me up, I went to push the cart to the counter area (which I intended to give right back), and she stopped me. I said I was confused about where I was supposed to put my items in the bag (and with just the few items, it was just one bag), at which point she said "and bags are 11c" and rang that up for a total of 13c. She then allowed me to put my items in the bag there at the register and leave. She really made it a horrible experience and it was all so...
