We are used to traveling on a budget and have stayed in some dodgy places in our time but this one comes pretty close to the top of the list. ||||We had booked a non-smoking room with two double beds but upon arrival I was told we had booked smoking. I was certain of my booking but ignored that when he was able to switch us to what he said was the last non-smoking room. ||||The room was in what looked like a deserted wing of the hotel. My teenage son and I were traveling alone so I wasn’t terribly comfortable with being so far away from others but we thought we’d give it a try. The room was vile.||||Our supposedly non-smoking room reeked of smoke and had only one bed, despite confirming we still wanted two beds. The curtains literally would not close. The ceiling was dropping and covered in water and rust stains. The carpet and bathroom were exceptionally dirty and it looked as if the place hadn’t been cleaned since 1974. ||||I can tough out an awful lot of rough motels but I didn’t feel safe there. We went back to reception and asked for a different room. He argued and told us we asked for one bed, told us that was the better part of the motel, etc. We eventually got another room which was far better than the first, but still very rough. The bedding, curtains and carpet desperately need to be replaced, though at least the bathroom was clean. The TV didn’t work and it was very musty. ||||The room two doors down from ours was missing the AC unit and you could literally see right through the outside wall vent into the room. It was pouring rain and I noticed there were several rooms like that with rain at a slant going in to the rooms. No wonder they were musty!||||We’ve just settled in so I can’t say about the breakfast yet but when I asked he said they have bread, butter and milk. I asked what time breakfast was and he said 8:30 or 9. I told him we had to leave by 8 and he said “we’ll see.” So, maybe there’s breakfast?||||I’d just suggest you’re better off elsewhere, even if you’re pretty chill about...

Read moreWe stayed here on a Saturday night due to most places in the area having no vacancy and the ones that did were all over 100. Where do I start? We go to check in and the lady says they have a room, lady asks the housekeeper if it’s clean and she replies “no it’s nasty”. We get ready to leave and then all of a sudden the front desk lady says we have one room clean that doesn’t have a TV. I’ll give it to you for 50 bucks. We think ok we can tough out a night without TV. Have a hard time getting keycard to work. We get in room and AC unit is unplugged and the room is about 100 degrees. Go to plug in AC and there is a Red Wasp blocking us so we had to deal with him. Look to the door and there is about a 2 inch gap at the bottom, so we use towels to try to keep the cold air in. Did I mention no TV, also no bar soap, no phone, and no Fire Alarm. The room had 3 doors, broken curtains, stained towels. People I’m telling you it isn’t worth the 20 bucks you save and the place really should be up for condemning. I’m pretty sure some of the frequent guests were prostitutes. Also a guy sitting outside multiple times that seemed like he might shank you if you looked at him wrong. Oh what a night in the Springs! This seems to be the norm for many econolodge as sadly the one we stayed in Salina KS wasn’t...
