I'll start by saying, I don't normally write reviews unless a place is really good or it's really bad. It's hard to mess up Pizza, but this place was really good at making bad pizza. The atmosphere and staff were very nice and it was a super clean establishment. Now, I'm not picky when it comes to food, much less pizza. But this definitely fell way short of good to me, by a long shot. For the "appetizer"? My kids make this at home by sprinkling Italian seasoning on pepperoni and microwaving it. Blah and super DUPER greasy. The marinara was also equally bland. The pizza and the appetizers looked and tasted like a kid made it. Sloppy and uninspired. The pizza? Also super greasy as well and the toppings and crust(where not burnt) were soggy. It also looks like they hastily threw toppings on top as there is a negligible ammount of cheese besides a thin laughable layer underneath the toppings. The whole uncooked red olives thrown on top (to me) were not favorable at all... Maybe because of a rush due to one of our 3 pizzas not being made on time when we placed our order (I didn't try any of the other 2). We had to wait an extra 15+ minutes for the 3rd pizza which was then made not as we ordered it (without red onion). In fact, It was absolutely covered in red onion ALL over, not just a few slivers here and there. Okay, I'm easy. We ate it anyways as everyone else was finishing up on their food and were ready to go. Several pieces on all of the 3 we ordered were severely burnt as noticed by all in our party(oven issue? Too hot on one side?). Not over cooked, but charred black, inedible. Now for the service. Thankfully, despite the food issues our waitress was absolutely fantastic!!! And hey, the in house "Wheat Springs" beer was good as well. Maybe the kitchen had an off night? I've heard good things about this place from other people in the past. Me personally? Our family will not dine here ever again. The only reason I gave 2 stars and not 1 was for the waitress...
Read moreThe only reason I'm giving SQZBX three stars is because of the number of times I've eaten there and had good experiences. If you dine in, the pizza is great and the service is good. I've made the 30-minute drive to Hot Springs on several occasions just to eat at SQZBX and have introduced friends and out-of-town-guests to eating there. So I was very surprised and disappointed by the poor phone service and even worse pizza on Friday evening when I talked my date into driving from Arkadelphia to get pizza. We planned to call in our order and find an outdoor place to eat. Unfortunately, just as I phoned in one of the SQZBX staffers picked up the phone to called someone who had ordered pizzas and not picked them up. I spent the next five minutes defending myself to the staffer and the manager and trying to convince them that I was not the offending customer! The entire situation could have been resolved if they had asked my name or the number from which I was calling. Once they finally took my order -- I don't think they ever believed I wasn't "Taryn" -- they told me it would be 50 minutes before our order would be ready. We arrived about 50 minutes later only to pick up lukewarm pizza with burned crusts and coagulated cheese. I've had boxed pizzas cooked in a microwave that were better. My date was super sweet it about it, but I felt like an idiot for recommending SQZBX so ardently. Had I been as rude to a customer as the staffer and manager were to me, I would have gone out of my way to make sure the customer got more than subpar pizza. Not sure...
Read moreThis could possibly be the best pizza in Arkansas. I recently took some friends visiting from another great food town Austin Tx and they were impressed as well. The service here is outstanding . Especially my server on my last two visits. Melon is a fantastic server. This place is lucky to have her. She just adds so much to an already wonderful dining experience. She greeted our table with a warm friendly smile and checked on us throughout our meal in the event we needed anything. I had a hard time finding the right beer to go with my pizza as they have many options brewed in house. Melon picked the perfect beer for me . I was very impressed . Any pizza you order here will be awesome here but a must try is the garlic cheesy knots that come with a marinara dipping sauce. As far as the pizza's go the veggie pizza is my personal favorite . Its come with roasted whole cloves of garlic. It's so good. If you are in the area and want outstanding pizza with wonderful service, or if you want to entertain out of town guests this place will impress with not only the food but the wonderful friendly staff. I have not tried their deserts yet as I'm usually too stuffed to try but I do want to at some point as I know they will be just as good as everything else I have experienced here thus far. If you stop in definitely asked to be seated in Melon's section. She will take great care of you and your party...and if you look at the menu and can't decided? Melon's suggestions...
