I became friends with a very dear and tender-hearted homeless man in downtown named Mr. Green. Mr. Green knows and reveres the Lord and brings Him honor in the best ways that he knows how. Mr. Green and I sit together several times each week and discuss the Lord over breakfast and a coffee. One day, after many months of getting to know each other, he asked me “Did you know there’s a church near the Greyhound station – a big beautiful building, and lotsa nice looking people and nice cars be going there, but our kind aint welcome?” I said really – how so… he said “they won’t let no homeless even come in there and there’s a security guard that tells ya to move it on along”. Then he cautiously asked me, “how do people be sayin they worshipin the Lord and doing that, is that right sir?”. I said actually it’s quite simple – they must not be following Christ in the way that Christ instructed them and they are carrying a heavy burden which no man can possibly carry (this is precisely why Jesus came – to save people, who cannot save themselves). You see, Jesus came to be with sinners and fellowship with the weak and the weary, as He said in Matthew 11 “28 Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” So… I told Mr. Green that they just need correction and that we should pray for them, that we should pray especially for those who carry the heavy burden of works, because you see the Bible does not teach about man’s works as a way to salvation, it teaches about faith in Jesus alone as the way to salvation (the only way) – and this topic led us to into a beautiful and rich discussion about scripture, faith, grace, Christ and ultimately God’s glory! Lord, we know that you can even use a weak and weary homeless man to accomplish your will. Thank you Lord for Mr. Green and for coming to us, as a lowly servant as you did so long ago and continue to...
Read moreIf you have small children and your kids can’t sit still in church, I truly recommend you find another church where they have a kid room. For a long time, I didn’t bring my son to church because I know that he might distract other people. He is only 4 and has mild autism overlap with ADHD, so it’s really hard to ask him to sit still. My son was running around in church even I asked him so many times not to do so. I decided to take him out side and stayed in the hall way. There was lady in charge for the church came to me and told me: “ can you please tell your son not to run around in church”. My response was “ yes ma’am “. I can see that she got irritated by my son running around and she doesn’t look friendly. Then we stayed in the hallway to finish the mass. Then my son touched the flag and moved the flag side to side. The lady in charge for the church came from nowhere and screamed at my son “ STOP STOP STOP “ really really loud . I was trying so hard to not say anything to her but I ended up saying this” ma’am I am so sorry for my son behavior but he is just a little kid. He got some mental issue. I am not sure if you have kids or grandkids, but you have no heart for children .”We ended up leave...
Read moreThe church is quite large and architecturally beautiful; however, I would not recommend it as a venue for a wedding. The fees are quite high. Additionally, Ms. Wilson, the staff member involved, demonstrated poor manners and a rude attitude on both days we were there. From the wedding rehearsal onward, she was dismissive and seemed unwilling to assist, often rolling her eyes and speaking unprofessionally to our group of approximately 20 people. She rushed us through the rehearsal and wedding day procedures and disregarded our concerns when we attempted to communicate with her.
There was an incident where she removed the bride's dress from the premises, which was inappropriate for such a special occasion. While we understand that her role is within a church environment, professionalism and respect are essential. The security guard mentioned that Ms. Wilson's behavior is often similar, advising us to ignore her conduct. Nonetheless, such treatment is unacceptable, and the staff should uphold a standard of kindness, compassion, and respect toward all visitors.
In summary, we do not recommend this church based on...
