I'll preface by saying I would stay here again if I can save some money but if it's not much more to stay somewhere else I'd stay somewhere else. The hotel looks modern and styled. However, there were a lot of details that made it not as comfortable as other hotels. My family usually stays at Home2Suite so that's my basis for comparison since they are both Hilton brands.
The best compliment I can give this location is the staff, lobby, and cleanliness. The staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating. We came for a funeral and we used the lobby to meet with family. The staff was so nice and kept making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our visits. The lobby was large enough to accommodate a couple large groups comfortably. They have a pool table and drawers of games and nice living room like sections to visit and eat. The rooms were clean and fresh.
Now for the negative. This is the only Tru hotel I've stayed at so I don't know if other locations are the same or different. The rooms don't have carpet which makes the rooms colder and less cozy and, more vital, makes sound carry a lot more throughout the hotel. The rooms are not quiet at all. The rooms are a little cramped. There aren't night stands on both sides of the beds (only one side). That makes it awkward for a second person to charge their phone or have their items near them.
The bathroom has awkward squeeze bottles that were attached to the walls for bathroom products like hand soap. They require two hands to use (one to catch and one to squeeze), sorry if you have any disability that prevents the use of two fully functioning arms/hands. The location of these bottles make it impossible for young kids to wash their hands on their own. And they make it difficult to regulate how much product comes out so you end up wasting a ton of product.
The breakfast is super basic.
As I walked down the hallway I heard literally everyone else inside their rooms, talking (at normal levels), showers, and tvs. The entire hotel is loud.
The pool is indoors so that's nice, but it's quite small. The gym room is small and didn't have towels in there the three times I used the gym. There is not very much floor space to stretch out. To do yoga I either had to be right in front of the door or cramped in a corner. Hopefully there aren't too many people in there at the same time.
The bathroom and pool towels are micro size. They barely went around my small 6 year old niece. Teens and adults need at least two, some might need three.
Lastly, our key cards kept going out. I had to get new key cards three times in one day.
If you just need a clean room to sleep in then it's fine. Just bring ear plugs if you are at all a light sleeper. And you might want to request the top floor so you don't hear people above...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal Hilton guest for years, staying at properties all over the country, including 4- and 5-star hotels. Unfortunately, this stay at Tru by Hilton was the worst hotel experience I’ve had and does not represent the Hilton brand I’ve come to trust.| • Upon check-in, Courtney charged me a $20 “early check-in” fee without disclosure or authorization. I’ve never encountered this at any Hilton property before.| • My first room (406) had a strong mildew odor from the start. By the next day, I noticed the door to that room had been left propped open with a spoon and a fan running to air it out — confirming there was a known issue. Inside, the shower had dead bugs on the wall, hair stuck to the wallpaper, urine stains on the toilet seat, and yellow residue on the shower door. Completely unsanitary and unacceptable.| • Before my new room (409) was ready after I returned from a wedding, staff walked directly into 406 while I was in the bathroom — without knocking — and claimed they “thought I had vacated.” That violation of privacy was inexcusable.| • The second room (409), while not as bad, still had bugs in the shower. For nearly $300 with taxes and fees, a guest should at minimum expect a clean room and privacy.| • After my stay, I called the hotel to report these issues. I was told management would follow up the next day, but I never received a call back, was never asked for photos, and no actual investigation took place. Instead, I received a cold and dismissive email from Serena in management.||On the positive side, when I escalated my concerns to Hilton corporate, Daisy from the Texas office was absolutely wonderful. She listened, took my concerns seriously, and promptly arranged a full refund by mailed check for the total cost of my stay.||Hilton corporate made this right, but the fact remains: this property failed on every level — cleanliness, communication, professionalism, and basic hospitality. A hotel under the Hilton name should not allow rooms in this condition or staff to treat guests this way.||Take a look at the pictures of the room below and the email correspondences with Serena and Chris — they speak for themselves.||I hope Hilton takes a serious look at how this property is being run, because this was far below the brand standard and a major...
Read moreI have stayed here a few times. The location is convenient, right off of the freeway, and there are plenty of restaurants and gas stations nearby to choose from. Cute little town. If you are a light sleeper, I recommend requesting a room on the other side of the freeway. I have taken pictures showing both of my rooms. One on each side of the hotel. The beds were rock hard, in my opinion, and I needed to bring a memory foam mat inside to add comfort. If you like a firm bed, you will get one here, but if you are looking for something soft to fall into, you may need to bring added support. The manager was extremely friendly, and he assisted me with getting into my room. However, there was a sour mood that my wife got greeted with in the morning from one of the ladies who cleans the breakfast area. My daughter had slept in (we have had a long, hard trip), and my wife wanted to go down to get her some cereal. She noticed that the breakfast was closing up, so she asked if it would be alright to buy some milk if she needed to so my child could eat. The lady snapped at my wife and said, "don't you know breakfast ends at 9?!" As she was sitting down eating her own breakfast. She also made rude remarks about how and when she needed to clean up to my wife. The time was about 9:40, and last time we stayed there, breakfast ended at 10am, so we thought it was still going on. How are we expected to know what the breakfast hours are and that they change throughout the week? Mind you, you can always check your key card envelope as it has that information on there, but when you have a hungry, tired toddler and you are half awake yourself from long travels, you would expect someone to be a little more kind in their approach to a frequently returning customer to the Hilton and Hampton hotels. Overall, it was a...
