This Veteran-Friendly Meijer has a good selection of fresh meats and vegetables (the Rotisserie Chickens are really good, they had a sale recently were you could buy them for 2.99, a good price) and a helpful staff. There is something about this store that does not appeal to me and that something is the fact that the milk is placed all the way at the back of the store- an obvious sales tactic that I find annoying and inconvenient- and then I noticed the product placement in relationship to the entrances and exits of the store seemed odd to me, and that is what accounts for the star deduction. Now lets talk about you, the Meijer customer- if you are going to use the self check-out lanes, did you notice that the people in front of you are not as effective or fast as you are at checking out? Don't you wish they would speed up the process a bit? You know what would speed up the process? I do- after a customer is finished checking out their items and paying Meijer, there is a belt that escorts your items down to a bagging area. Here we have a bottle-neck, a hitch in the speed-wagon. The people behind you are able to scan their items and place them on the black belt- their items will collide with your poorly chosen (you should be more frugal) grocery items, causing quite a confusion indeed. I suggest the belt feeds into a possible 2 bagging areas instead of 1 per lane. Just a suggestion. I don't want to be hard on Meijer for this at all, because in my opinion the self-check out is a great idea, and to criticize it wouldn't be a good idea as a customer. In my opinion, only a few very minor adjustments to this store would be needed to make it 5 stars. This rating is limited to the grocery, checkout, and bottle return- I haven't used the other departments enough to give a fair rating, as you probably already know, Meijer carries a wide variety...
Read moreIf I could give this store a Hero to ZERO score I most certainly would. When Meijer Stevensville opened I was elated!! The store layout was nice and made sense ..they usually had all the items I shopped for like probably 98% of the time. Staff seemed happy and friendly and you used to see the same faces and it just felt like a nice neighborhood grocer. But over the years you could see the employees "light in their eyes" go out. You could see them trying to struggle to smile and then the familiar faces started to disappear one by one (I learned they were fired by new managements that would come and go). Gradually my items (normal stuff like orange juice, cheese, hair spray or cleaners) that were popular items started consistently not being in stock. But Wow..recently, like this past month with the new "refresh" it's HORRIBLE! They went from the manageable layout of produce down on a level where shorter ppl (like me) or older ppl or handicap ppl could reach to pick out such items like lettuce, radishes, etc are now unreachable on a top shelf. Whoever designed and decided to completely makeover the way produce is presented needs fired! The produce looks awful stacked and crammed in to these tiny spaces. Wilted and rotting. So, why I wrote this review is to say I would rather drive to Kalamazoo (Trader Joe's) and Portage (Sam's Club) to do my grocery shopping than continue at the Meijer in Stevensville. It's so sad to see a store decline such as this one but bad management decisions have really ruined this once nice store. NOT AN IMPROVEMENT. (I have been going to Martin's in Stevensville for my deli needs and other things, more over the past couple of years anyway as I quit buying from the deli area of Meijer bc of the quality as well.) Shame on the upper management for such bad decisions. Who puts radishes and lettuces so high up?...
Read moreI have never posted a negative review in my entire life, but this Meijer has effectively stolen over $400 from me on Sunday, May 24th and they have done absolutely nothing to fix this situation. I was using the self checkout lane in the afternoon along with about 50 other customers- all of us using debit cards were receiving the same notification on the self checkout screen about our payment not going through. There were two employees working the incredibly busy self-checkout area. They were telling everyone to keep running our cards and to bypass our pins until our payments went through (I don't blame these employees at all, but rather their bosses). Later that night I checked my bank account and noticed four duplicate charges from this Meijer, over $400. I'm a college student; that hurts. I immediately contacted my bank who did what they could to help me in the moment by removing the holds on the funds, but said that if Meijer posted the charges anyway, I will have to file disputes. I then contacted the Stevensville, Meijer. The man I spoke to was not at all apologetic and told me that "there are people working on fixing the problem" and that if it was not fixed by Today, 5/24, to call again. Well, today only ONE of the FOUR charges has been fixed (by my bank, NOT Meijer) so I called again only to be told that "the people working on this" are not there and to call back later; offering no solutions and not attempting to rectify the situation whatsoever. Unfortunately, I have never experienced such horrible customer service in my life and I will never spend another dime at this store. I blame store...
