I’m rating 3 because the service has been good even if the situation isn’t. Arrived around sunset which was breathtaking. A wonderful start to my Son’s birthday trip. After grabbing a quick bite and putting our 2 kids ages 1 and 3 down for the night. I decided to go to bed early too around 9pm. I woke up to the sound of trickling/rushing water and odd smell around 930pm. The noise was coming from the bathroom, I go look and the sink is backing up across the counter and onto the floor. I called the office and asked what should we do, they said they would call me back in 10 minutes, after 15 minutes I walked over to the office, they were obviously busy, but my situation wasn’t really acceptable either. They offered me some towels to clean up the water, which I thought was a joke (only because that wasn’t going fix the flood, but as I was about to learn it was also a need. I asked if towels were how we were going to fix the flood, could they ask the guests upstream of us not to shower till a solution was found (that didn’t seem like something they wanted to do). However they found a room to move us too (actually it was an upgrade, can you say silver lining), but as my kids were asleep already I said I’d like if we could just move in the morning as waking a 1 year old is not really on anyone’s to do list. The office understood and said they would call maintenance and the manager (I assumed that they would be sending someone to check the gray water drain for the building, as the clog wouldn’t likely be in my drain, but likely my room is closest to the main that is backing up). To my surprise a few minutes later, like 15 minutes we receive a knock on our door, my dog went crazy, so now my youngest is up. The manager and maintenance man were here to fix the clog. I was shocked but honestly I was impressed with how fast someone came out/and I know they have to mitigate damage to their facility. The nice maintenance man and manager worked for about 20 minutes or so and came out and said everything was fixed. I asked them to step outside of the room to talk, because on one hand I wanted them to know that it was awesome service, but I had just told the office that I didn’t want to wake my kids up in the middle of the night and they essentially did the opposite. They said there was a miscommunication and we’re sorry, I said I understood and appreciated their response. They said I could have some more towels as they had to use some of ours to clean up the mess, I declined as they told me they just fixed the problem and I would be switching rooms first thing in the morning. I thanked them and went back to put my 1 year old down for the 3rd time tonight. About 10 minutes later while rocking him back to sleep I hear the sink overflowing again, because a different room took a shower and it’s not a clog in my sink. So after all of that I went back to the office to get towels that I had declined twice already, and I just finished cleaning up a different guests water waste that was all over the floor, and that wraps up my first 5 hours in this beautiful/punishing room! I’m not going back into that bathroom unless I have to evacuate I just refuse to pay to stay in a room to clean others guests mess off the floor. But I’m excited to try a different room, maybe I’m just having...
Read moreI stayed at The Coho for 3 nights this past week. Our stay was excellent and I cant wait to come back with my 2 daughters. Checking in/out was easy and the staff was friendly. They even called shortly after we checked in to make sure everything was ok. That was a nice touch! The beds were comfy and I highly recommend getting a room with a balcony. The view is amazing and I really enjoyed going out to the balcony every morning with a cup of coffee, that was my favorite part of the vacation! Speaking of coffee- they give all guests a bag of freshly ground coffee to make every day. Our room had a french press and a kettle with directions on how to make the perfect cup. Our room was a fireside room with a kitchenette and it had pots, pans, basic utensils, forks, spoons. knives, spatulas, etc. Enough where we saved some money by cooking in a few times. The kitchenette even had a drying rack, and dish soap, etc. The room also had extra blankets and pillows and a large fan in the closet. My only complaint was the first night we were there we were very warm in the room (75-79 degrees) , and had no way of cooling it down other than keeping the sliding door open all night as there is no A/C in the room. I'm thinking that it got warm in there because the curtains were open and the sun heated the room before we got there. I remedied that by closing the shades if we werent in the room, and leaving the sliding door open if we were in the room. We were comfortable the rest of the time and if we werent we could have used the large fan in the closet. Breakfast was simple, but great, eggs and sausage was provided as well as cereal, oatmeal, juice, toast, bagels, muffins, fruit, and you could make your own waffles if you wanted. The thing I really appreciated was that the yogurt was lactose free and I could actually have some, it was delicious!! They finished remodeling their check-in area while we were there and it was beautiful and tastefully done. Also we took advantage of the new firepits and relaxed after the pool one night- it was awesome! They are gas operated and so no smoke blows into the rooms and you dont go back to your room smelling like smoke. The pool and hot tub area was small but clean and not crowded- although we were there on a Tues-Fri. They had a sauna too that looked nice if you were there without kids. Parking was fine and there is a beach access about a block down the street where you can actually drive down on to the beach if you want to. The beach is great, we liked it way better than Newport! We flew kites and hunted for shells on the beach a little south of the hotel. We actually found some neat ones! Again, we can't...
Read moreWe are new to the pacific northwest and starting to explore the coast. We chose this place for a family vacation since it was a short distance for us to drive. We traveled with three adults and three kids (one a toddler). We arrived early, but didn't get into our room past the regular check in of 4pm. We were told it was because of cleaning staff. Be aware there is no A/C in this room. There may be an ocean breeze, but opening the doors and windows can be invasive because of the the number of peole on the lawn. Not very private. We booked room 9, the family suite. It has a large open room, kitchenette, and bathroom with ocean view on the ground floor. There is also a second bedroom with door and private bath. The set up seemed great. We had issues with the bedroom window not having curtains and a light outside the window kept the room bright all night. Plus there is a trash and recycling area right outside the window and when staff was breaking down boxes and trash it woke up the baby. The floors and carpets were so dirty it turned our feet black. Wear shoes in your room. There was a lot of dust and dirt/sand on the floors and under the furniture. There were holes in the upholstery on the chairs. We Cloroxed the room. There is a nice green lawn outside the ground floor rooms and it would've been a great place for kids to play and our toddler to walk around, but all the dogs used it for a bathroom. (gross) The firepits seemed really cool, but they're crowded and lots of folks are out there drinking and loud. Not exactly a family atmosphere. The view here is amazing and early in the morning you can have a peaceful place to sit and relax. There is no beach access from the hotel, but a short walk to the public access point. You can drive on the beach and park or walk down the several stairs to the beach. I really appreciated the front desk staff and their politeness and willingness to help and try and make our stay better. I'm giving a three star review because of the friendly and helpful staff as well as the potential for the rooms and green space to be updated. I would love to come back and be able to give a five star review in the near future. Suggestions: Update the room 9 for better sleeping with curtains and move the trash and recycling from outside the window. Get some folks who can really clean these rooms for everyone's health and safety. Get the dogs off the lawn, there's plenty of walkable space around the area. Watching dogs use the bathroom outside the room was a major turn off from the amazing views. Make it clear on your site that rooms dont have A/C and there's no beach access from the back...
