I've lived at the Nirvana for 4 months now. Here is what I've liked and disliked about living here. Liked 1. Charm of the building. The building is historic & unlike any other apt I've lived in. You see green lanterns, dragon head fixtures, eastern paintings, well-kept front yard, and greenery adding much character to the building. The Nirvana feels like my home, partially because of its distinct features. 2. My unit My unit has big, wide swinging windows, exposed brick walls, checkered tile bathroom floors, lime green tile kitchen floors, great natural light, and upgraded kitchen appliances. Freshly painted, well maintained, cozy, and full of personality. I'm a painter and I've successfully turned my home into a place of rest and inspiration. I've received compliments from every single person I've had over. 3. Quality of the building. The Nirvana is built in 1925, but renovations are still happening in 2025. Just about every entry point has secure app unlocking system including the units. CCTVs throughout the building, cleaned thoroughly everyday, and never once an off smell anywhere. You can tell that the management cares about the building. I like that I feel like I'm living in a historic, not an old, building. The old meets the new. 4. On-site community/property manager Yani. Yani is probably one of the best parts about the Nirvana. Incredibly helpful and professional since day one. He clearly cares about his job and residents, saying "Hey, how are you" every time we walk pass each other. All of my maintenance issues were swiftly resolved thanks for Yani. It is truly a pleasure having him as my community manager. Yani needs a raise! 5. Location (1) My biggest concern before moving into the Nirvana was its location. Being in the heart of Hollywood I worried that I'd always be surrounded by noise, I was proved wrong. The tourists never come any more North of Hollywood Blvd. The Nirvana is placed in the small pocket where I don't get most of the Hollywood noise, especially with my unit facing away from Orange and Franklin. I appreciate being able to enjoy some peace and quiet during my morning walks. 6. Location (2) Within walking distance are restaurants, gyms, grocery stores, cafes, quiet neighborhoods, trails, etc. Very high on walkability. Disliked 1. Thin walls The walls and floors/ceiling are on the thinner side, so sound bleeding is unavoidable. It's not too noticeable with some music and A/C running, but worth noting if you're sensitive to it. 2. Homelessness around the property There is a small park next to the Nirvana called Dorothy J. & Benjamin Smith Park. This is a meeting and chilling ground for a group of homeless population. They're shooting up drugs & making noise. I feel unsafe whenever I need to walk past the park. I was told before moving in that the Nirvana and city have plans to resolve the issue, but haven't seen any progress. 3. Parking With preferential parking permit, I can almost always find parking on Orange. The issue is that it's ALMOST always. I have to sometimes circle around the block to find a spot on Sycamore or wait until a car leaves. What bothers me the most is that cars without a permit park in these streets esp during the weekend. I wish these illegally parked cars were towed or at least parking tickets were imposed more rigorously. Overall, I've thoroughly enjoyed living in the Nirvana. So much so that I'm considering extending my lease, which I've never done in any of my previous apartments. The apartment itself deserves 5 stars. With external factors like the homeless and parking situation, I'd give 3.7 stars.

The most beautiful historic building. If you love architecture & history stay here. The building has immense charm and the lobby is beautiful. Just down the street from the magic castle. Seahorse dragons and stone carvings adorn the building. An amazing fire escape on the front and the lobby is something out of an old movie. Hardwood floors and old glass knobs , if you know this style n love it stay here. If modern is your thing this isn't the spot for you.

If you want to be somewhere infested with roaches and crooked property management this is the place! No AC and management’s maintenance will be unavailable so your $2500 will be used to enjoy 90 degree weather inside! Also don’t forget property management will run into trees and claim you are at fault because you witness it.
