To say this venue is amazing is an understatement. Both my husband and I are from north central West Virginia and couldn’t find anything we loved where we are from or where we are currently living. My now husband suggested Snowshoe, and we stumbled on a brand new venue that wasn’t even open yet. We didn’t realize we were stumbling on the best decision we could have made. From the views to the staff to the food, everything was perfect. The views are breathtaking. The balcony and folding doors allow you to feel like you are able to flow throughout the venue with ease. It truly allows you to feel like you are having an outdoor wedding without being outdoors (or keep it indoors if that is what you wish). The clean decor of the room allows you to make it your own with ease. Chef Ed may be one of the most talented chefs in West Virginia especially when feeding 200 people. All of the food for the rehearsal, the day of the wedding, and the brunch the next day was absolutely spectacular. Even the late night pizza was amazing (highly recommend late night snacks!!). The staff at the corduroy are seriously top notch. They made sure everything was perfect for everyone. Every detail was looked at three or four times, and they did not hesitate to help is with whatever we needed. Their coordinators, Jim Ed and Lydia, made sure we were taken care of the entire time. They are upbeat and caring and always down for a laugh in the middle of a busy wedding day. They take charge when needed. Most of our guests complimented how amazing entire staff was all weekend. Honestly, I’m tearing up writing this because of how attentive they were to us. They worked so well with our wedding planner, Isabella Leon, to make our day everything we wanted. We had some off the wall ideas that they were happy to go along with, and we were so grateful for that considering a lot of venues hesitate to go off the standard. We have heard absolute rave reviews from all of our guests. From the accommodations at the hotel to the wedding itself, everything review from our guests were 5 out of 5 stars. Even a week later, people are still complimenting the wedding, venue and especially, the food. If you are from WV, this is probably one of the best wedding venues to show your guests how beautiful our state is. If you are not from WV, please come and enjoy all West Virginia has to offer. If we could give The Corduroy Inn more than 5 stars, we would. I could go on and on with everything they did for us in a three day span and everything they did before the wedding weekend, but I don’t think the review will let me write that much. Thank you again Corduroy! You made our wedding...
Read moreThe room itself was decent, and served its purpose. However; the service and staff were some of the worst I've experienced in a long time. I booked a room for one night, in anticipation of some work I was doing at the resort. I called ahead the day before, to let the office know that my husband would be checking in with the reservation under my name while I was finishing up work for the afternoon and to give them his name and make sure it would not be a problem for his to check in. They took his name and told me sure, that would be no problem. I also inquired about early check-in, they said sure, as long as the room was ready that we could check in early for an upcharge. When he arrived to check in on the day of our stay, he was greeted by a rather rude employee, whom when my husband gave her the reservation name, she replied "well where is Sabrina?" He explained that I was finishing work and that he would be checking in, and that we had called the day prior to give the desk his name and confirm that this would be okay. After picking up the phone and beginning a conversation with another guest while he stood there waiting for her, she then rather bluntly said that the room would not be ready until 5 pm. Keep in mind, we booked through Expedia and have a confirmed check in time of 4pm, so he was then even more confused about how the check in time was now even later than what was confirmed. She essentially said sorry, it won't be ready until 5pm and offered no further help. He had no other option at that point but to hang out at the local Starbucks until 5pm when I finished work. When I arrived, I went to the office to complete the check in, and asked about the earlier issues. A different woman was working then, who replied that my husband was told that the room would be ready within 30 minutes of his arrival and that he should come back but never did. This was a completely false statement, and when I verified it, she backpedaled and said that's "what she WOULD have said were it she handling the check in process". At this point, I requested to contact someone in management regarding the rude and condescending employees, confusion over check in times, and generally poor treatment of guests. The lady at the desk assured me she would have someone contact me within the next day. No call ever came. We were really disappointed with the service and hoped to have some resolution with the hotel itself, but it seems that they cannot even be bothered to contact guests when an...
Read moreWe greatly enjoyed our stay at the Courduroy Inn. However, the visit to the Appalachian restaurant was an unmitigated disaster. At the end, the room was in good shape, except for an old model TV in the bedroom of the suite. But the room itself was well appointed, and the views were breathtaking, so does the TV really matter?
The end however, was another story. The Appalachian is the high-end restaurant and offers entrées from $25-$50. On our arrival. There was only a couple other parties in the room.
Due to a conflicting event, the regular chef was not working in the restaurant and we were asked to wait 15 minutes for pre-arranged reservations. Two of the food items were unavailable.
After being seated, and having our order taken, we waited 45 minutes for soup that was served cold because the kitchen had turned off the burners. After asking that the soup be reheated, the soup and the entrées were delivered one hour after the initial order, all at one time I will note that we rejected the order and promptly left. In addition, when asked for details on the preparation of the entrée, the server asked the kitchen as to its preparation, and the response was either incorrect or the dish would have been entirely inedible this had. We went out and bought a pizza and went Back to the room.
Note that this is a high-end restaurant and regardless of ongoing events. They are responsible for a quality of service that justified the price of their product and in this case they were entirely lacking if you spend $150 for a meal, you should get meticulous product and service. This was not embodied here. Other than that the hotel and stay was fantastic and we greatly enjoyed it.
The suffering server at the restaurant is no way in responsible for poor management and an inadequate kitchen staff. It was a mixed bag. We love the hotel, but won’t...
