This was our first visit to Snowshoe, and the Soaring Eagle Lodge was fantastic - you really can't beat the convenience and it was a great experience overall with only a couple minor "cons." We checked in on Friday at Mountain Top Check In, where they were also able to print our lift tickets we had ordered online. We then pulled into the underground parking garage and walked 25 yards to the elevators up to our room. They had luggage carts available if you wanted to use those.||||Our room was well-furnished and clean, with lots of extra coffee stocked. Their ski lockers are great, and out the door you have maybe 10 yards to walk before you can put on your skis. The restaurant and bar on the 1st floor was decent -- OK food and very fast service, and wonderfully convenient. They have 3 hot tubs and a fitness room that nobody seemed to be using.||||Our first ski day was rainy, and it was great to have a laundry room on the ground level with 4 great dryers to dry our ski jackets and pants for $1.00 (and a change machine right there as well). The concierge was helpful and the shuttle came right to the lobby to take us down to Snowshoe Village.||||A couple minor things just to be aware of - they don't come to clean your room or exchange towels during your stay. That said, Housekeeping was very nice when I stopped them in the hallway and asked for an extra bar of soap and a fresh set of sheets for the pull-out bed. The pull-out mattress was quite uncomfortable in the living room, so my son just slept on the couch the 2nd night, which worked fine. And as other reviewers have commented, you can definitely hear the people above you -- so if you are sensitive to noise, I definitely recommend a 4th-level unit. But all in all, Soaring Eagle was fantastic and we would definitely stay...
Read moreWere invited to spend a weekend with my sister and brother-in-law. Even though it was the off season, as it was almost on the way home from the Smoky Mountains, where we were spending several days, we accepted. |The drive from Lynchburg was quite challenging, and got even more difficult for the last 10-15 miles, which were totally fogged in. The map on our nav system really helped prepare us for each upcoming turn, and it got us to within 15 feet of the front of the Lodge. A shadow about 30 feet to our right turned out to be Sis (in her car) who was waiting for us, mainly because there is no cell service on the mountain. |From there to the indoor parking and up to the room. Amazing! The room was a huge 2BR 2 bath layout. Three TVs, great kitchen, a wine rack with wine, a wireless router, washer and dryer, etc, etc. Have stayed at many properties over the years, and this could be the best ever. The lodge also had a great hot tub and fitness center. |Only 4-5 rooms were occupied and not much going on anywhere else at Snowshoe. Only one restaurant was operating - Foxfire Grill - and it was quite good. |The night before our departure there was a dusting of snow. Had concern about the drive down the mountain. Fortunately the road has been ashed during the night. |The Lodge itself was incredible. Would like to return the area when things...
Read moreGreat views and plenty of space for the four of us. We loved the comfort of the beds, the size of the bathrooms and the large supply of towels. The living/dining offered ample seating. It would have been nice if the dishwasher had been emptied and the balcony had been cleared of ice and snow prior to our arrival. Our 5 year old granddaughter slipped and caught her ankle between the rails. It required icing and left a pretty bad bruise. She is okay but it could have ended very badly. If they aren’t able to clear the deck they should at least leave tools so guests could do it themselves. They also did not have the shampoo/ conditioners shown in the booking photos. The kitchen was well supplied with supples. The hot tubs were great and we were able to avoid others as they were not being used. The dual fireplaces also allowed for social distancing as multiple families could enjoy their own space in the massive communal lodge. There is a long, easy green run with access to blue and black runs right outside the ski locker door. Direct access from the Soaring Eagle lift made coming back to the condo a breeze. All in all it was a great experience and we would...
