My husband and I just returned from an amazing stay at Uma House!! Amazing doesn't even describe it! From the moment we walked into the lobby everything was perfect! We were in South Beach to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. As soon as we walked in every staff member wished my husband a happy birthday! It was really special! They upgraded our room for the special occasion and, when we arrived in the room, we found balloons, a birthday card, and a bottle of champagne waiting for us! 🥂 The room was huge! We were in the Sunrise building overlooking the courtyard/sitting area. The room and building were cozy and charming! The bathroom and shower were very large! Housekeeping did an amazing job each day keeping the room fresh and tidy! It always smelled so clean. The hallways also always smelled really fresh! The rooftop terrace and pool were lovely! The bartenders were excellent! David and another man (I am sorry I don't know his name). They were both so very friendly and they made great Mojitos!! 🍹 We loved the nightly "wine o'clock" from 6-7! Such a relaxing way to end a hot day at the beach!! We also loved the daily coffee and biscottis from 8am-10am. That was a nice way to start our day! We also loved the hydration station in the lobby and rooftop terrace! We had an issue with our flight home being canceled. The staff at Uma took great care of us and gave us a special rate and allowed us to stay in our room an extra night! They also accommodated us with a late check out on our departure day to help make life easier for us before our long day of travel ahead! We did a lot of research and looked at about 200 hotels in South Beach before my husband and I decided on Uma House! We are so pleased with our decision to stay at Uma!!! The area is safe and quiet. It's close to restaurants and shops. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to where you get the chairs and umbrellas (umbrellas are $22 extra per day). Bring your beach towels from your room to the beach with you as you don't get towels at the beach. You can return the towels and get dry ones at the pool deck! We would 100% recommend Uma House for your stay in South Beach!!! Can't wait to visit again!! 🌴🏖
We had one small issue and that was the minibar. It was pretty empty when we arrived. We noticed because we put our own very small water bottles into it. A few days into our stay many items were restocked. Sodas and small vodka bottles. When we checked out, we found that we had been charged for the items that they restocked. We didn't drink anything from the fridge. We told the staff this at check out and she informed us that she had to clear it with her manager to remove the items from our bill and we would receive a corrected bill. The day after checking out we received a bill via email but all of the minibar items were still on the bill and our card was charged for them. I saw another recent review where this happened to another guest. I think that Uma needs to work on their minibar procedures. There must be a way to make this aspect better for guests. I wouldn't mind being charged if we actually drank the items from the fridge...but we didn't. We only used the fridge to store our water bottles and keep them cool. It was disappointing to find out that the still charged us even after we explained that we didn't have...
Read moreUPDATE A few weeks ago, I stayed again at this hotel and this experience was not pleasant. Upon checking into my room, I noticed one of the locks was not properly secured. It was missing the latch. I left the room and walked back to the front desk. I spoke to the manager explaining my observation along with showing him a photo I captured of the door prior to leaving the room. He assured me that Miami Beach Building/Inspection Department does not allow two locks and that the issue was not a grave concern. I commented due to safety and potential code regulations it would be considered problematic for some guests. Also, as I was standing there, I noticed in their reservation system it was noted that the front desk was not to change my room. I thought that was interesting and made a comment about it. I mention to the manager if the room is not satisfactory for any reason and if there are rooms available, I expected to be moved.
I requested a room change and they moved me to a different room, but I think it's disturbing that this issue of door security was not brought to their attention. No guests should accept unsafe accommodations because the hotel staff is not performing the required repairs.
In addition, my room floor was dirty, seemingly hadn’t been swept or mopped. When I returned home, I had to wash my slippers twice just to remove the dirt on the bottom.
I’ve decided not to stay at this hotel in the future. There are too many other hotels to select, so I will not be subjecting myself to this again.
I had a great stay at the Uma House by Yurbban in Miami Beach. This hotel definitely understands customer service. After checking-in and entering my room, I quickly noticed an issue. Before leaving the hotel for the day, I walked back to the front desk and spoke to Alex about the issue. He immediately suggested a resolution and I was pleased with his recommendation.
After returning to my room for the night, there were other problems I started to observe. Instead of speaking to the front desk, I decided to address them the next morning. I was too tired and didn’t feel up to it. The next day I spoke to Melinda and she was exceptional. After listening to a couple of my issues, she quickly offered to change my room. She turned my not-so-good stay into an awesome experience. The new room was much better. I was so glad she offered.
Every staff member at this hotel is friendly, courteous and welcoming. It’s rare to experience this level of high customer service. I was highly impressed and definitely...
Read moreDO NOT STAY IN UMA HOUSE PLEASE. I already have been in more than 10 countries and stayed in over 30 hotels, but I have never been treated poorly as at Uma House in my whole life, and in the USA, which is a country that i love and people are kind. When we arrived at the hotel, I asked the vallet worker, where I could park the car, he simply shrugged his shoulders, pretending he didn’t work there, i asked another worker (from Uma) in the street, he said he doesn't know about it. Despite this, I proceeded to check in at the hotel. I asked the same questions to the receptionists, who directed me to a parking lot far away. I had never been to Miami before, but just by looking TO THE SIDE, I could see a public parking lot, where I left my car, and paid. I had already paid for a valet service too, when I questioned the receptionists about it, they said they thought I preferred to park my car myself instead of using the hotel’s service. WHAT SENSE DOES THAT MAKE? Once again, to complete this hotel's terrible service, the staff wouldn’t return the passports unless I specifically asked for them. They gave us the room keys, and we carried our luggage upstairs by ourselves. When we realized we were not in the correct lobby, we went back down to complete the check-in, which had already been taking more than an hour. Again and again, we asked questions because people won’t tell you anything, won’t assist you, and won’t provide good service because they aren't prepared for it. When I asked where my room was, they told me it was in the building next to the hotel. That was the last straw. It’s impossible to provide an honest and respectful service with this kind of behavior. A hotel MUST help its customers, because they’re not detectives looking for clues, they’re looking for comfort and ease when they check in. The funniest part is that when I lost my patience and explained to them that it was an immense disrespect to me and my family to pay a fee and be treated so badly, the manager said, "Isn't about money." I’VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM IN A HOTEL IN MY WHOLE LIFE, but it’s impossible not to get really angry with such misconduct. I had to explain to this person that when you pay a significant amount of money, you’re essentially requesting at least a minimum level of respect and possibly a good experience. The hotel has good facilities, and the rooftop is nice, but all of these things are forgotten due to such bad service that I can't even measure. I hope the owner sees this. I left a photo of the current state of one of...
