I will try to give a thorough review as I went in blind since this is a new location for Sonder!
Awesome stay for low maintenance travelers. I was traveling solo and was always in and out - it was great and had the basics! I Chose this location for its convenient location to bars, boardwalk and beach! The 150 express from the airport drops you off right out front!
Staff was very friendly and there is 24/7 front desk. After hours you need your key card to get into the building and there was a security guard too so felt very safe esp since I was staying in the first floor. I had something mailed to me and arrived without a problem and desk politely held it for me. Otherwise, if you need anything like housekeeping or even just a broom(for sand in the room haha) forget about it as it was hard to track someone down despite the app communications.
The building itself has excellent curb appeal but surrounding area is under construction so all of 29th st is an eye sore and it’s very loud! The pool is a nice addition but since construction was(and will likely continue to be) happening it wasn’t very fun hearing the banging during the work day 8-5 or so. Not their fault- Just go to the beach instead!
Rooms were small but comfortable (again just basics). Fresh and clean towels and bedding! Windows were high up and dont have views - you can’t really open a window or hang towels out to dry which was tricky. But at least was able to get natural light in the room. There is AC and high quality shower amenities. Triton bodega close by with all your basics and the rooms include a mini fridge so was able to stock on beverages and snacks that way. Room also included coffee which is a nice bonus!
If you’re looking for a hotel with housekeeping, frequent trash and towel service this might not be the place for you. I also wouldn’t say this place is kid friendly mostly quiet working people, couples, mature friends.
Plenty of working areas (if remote) and somehow they were always playing really good music in the lobby! Overall I really enjoyed this stay.
Definitely download the Sonder app. It is user friendly and helpful for making reservation adjustments. This is for the modern day traveler. Highly recommend and hopefully...
Read moreI would suggest considering alternative accommodations if you are seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Miami. The hotel's advertised features are quite misleading, and the pool and restaurant areas have been under renovation for over three weeks, which was disappointing since these were the main reasons we chose to book with Sonder. We were informed by staff members that the pool is still awaiting approval from the city to open.
The guest rooms are small and do not provide ample space for storing clothing, as there is only one small hanging rack in the closet. Basic amenities that one would expect in a hotel are also lacking in the rooms and lobby. Additionally, the walls are thin, and noise from neighboring rooms can be heard easily. We were awakened several times during the night by the sound of people talking. Earplugs were provided in the room, likely due to numerous complaints. Furthermore, the room was uncomfortably humid, which made the bed sheets and our clothing damp.
It seems that the hotel focused more on aesthetics than functionality, which is particularly evident in the lack of storage space for clothing.
Additionally, there is an optional daily fee of $20 for cleaning services, and garbage is not regularly collected, resulting in trash bags left in the hallways.
On a positive note, the staff was friendly and beach towels were readily available at the front desk. The hotel is conveniently located near the beach and a Citibike station.
I did notice that other hotels in the area, such as the AC Hotel, offer reserved beach areas with beach chairs and umbrellas for their guests. Overall, while the hotel may be acceptable for those seeking a hostel-like atmosphere at an affordable price, I would recommend spending a few extra dollars to ensure a comfortable night's sleep and access to basic amenities, as well as a functioning pool...
Read moreWe trusted this Sonder hotel as we have had amazing stays in the past, but this stay was a disaster. It was so bad we spent our time here looking for a decent hotel to stay at and left the property as soon as we could since we weren’t able to sleep here at all.
First of all, the NOISE!!!! You will hear EVERYTHING: slamming doors and steps from the hallway, people talking outside, the room next door, and in our case, kitchen noises from the hotels bar since it was next to us. In addition, we could hear the loud music from the bar through the ac vent AND even the reception door opening and closing. It was impossible to go through the night here. We woke up every 20’ with a different noise.
Also, the rooms are absolutely incompatible with the listing pictures. Hotel is located in the Alden, an old smelly hallway hotel, and these Sonder rooms are in the first floor in a dark semi-basement, so no accesible windows and no natural light. Secondly, the room condition wasn’t great: poorly cleaned so we’d find hair all over the place. The bed mattress is sunken, and bed makes noise as soon as you sat down. There is nowhere to put your clothes in aside from a basic 3-hanger structure. Chairs shown in the listing don’t exist. Iron doesn’t work. There’s only 2 outlets, none of them near the bedside so if you want to charge your phone you need to leave it on the floor in the middle of a random wall.
Anyway, we reported the issues through the chat (we received ridiculous answers) and the front desk but they said they didn’t know how to fix it…
Bottom line: if you appreciate sleeping, and a clean and comfortable stay, you might want to go somewhere else. This for sure is my last experience...
