Suites On South Beach — Hotel in Miami Beach

I have been coming to Miami's South Beach for over 20 years for vacation get aways but this is my first time staying at this particular location. Compared to places I have stayed in the past, this one is decent. There are no frills or luxury accommodations being offered here, so that is important to note. I think it's great for someone looking for a clean location in the middle of all of the action for a good price.

It's obvious on arrival that they put effort into service and cleanliness. But I do think it's important to point out that this is a dated location with no extras. I paid for the "suite", and that term is definitely being used loosely here. But the room was decent and the bed was comfortable. I think if I had known more about what to expect, that would have made a difference.

The bathroom has the strangest set up I have ever seen but I'm having a hard time describing it. (I wish I had taken a picture of it) The best that I can do to describe it is if you imagine your regular bathroom set up but remove all walls, barriers, etc. There is no wall to divide the shower from the toilet and sink area. So it feels like it used to be a communal restroom. There's a shower head coming out of the wall with hot and cold water nozzles and a drain is in the floor. No walls to divide this from the bathroom sink and toilet area. That doesn't seem like a big deal until you see it without expecting that. Basically, you can turn on the shower and shoot the water clear across the room, which I did by accident and had a massive clean up. It's a very odd set up. In my opinion, it all felt a bit dated and slightly damp/dingy but not dirty. We stayed here as a quick layover just to have a place to sleep for a few hours the night before our cruise. The rooms are not very brightly lit, which I think added to the oddly dingy feeling, but the lighting will suffice. The best thing about the room was the television, in my opinion, because it is huge with a ton of channel options.

My tips: I would say, if you have ever stayed at a hostel that offered private quarters, that is essentially what this will feel like. If you come in with that expectation, you will be fine. Also, you may want to bring flip flops for the shower, just to be extra careful. Perhaps the worst place I’ve been at while traveling. Their entire website and the pictures they show is a fabrication of deceit. They show you these great amenities only to give you what looked like they were bought at a garage sale. When we got there my wife had to wait 25 min. For someone to show up at the front desk. Their website stated that they had parking, well when we went to check in my wife was told that they don’t have parking and that they were having a hard time getting that they have parking off their website. We were told by the person working the front desk we could go find parking then come back? Parking and the pictures we looked at of the rooms they offer. . We then went to our room and it HAD NOTHING AT ALL in common with the pictures that they used on their website. The room was not clean. The pubic hair on the toilet and the hair on the floor next to the toilet lets us know how clean the room was. There were holes in the tile from when they removed a shelf so instead of replacing the tile they just plugged the holes with putty and moved on. Nothing in the kitchenette was anything close to what they advertised online. The full size fridge in their online pictures was now a dorm room refrigerator that need more than a little cleaning. They had replaced the flooring but where the old floor forced air vent was they just covered it with a board and painted it. NOTHING THEY ADVERTISED online was like the actual room we were given. My wife and I left and went back to our car to call our credit card company to refuse payment to this place for their deception. It took them over and hour to get a manager on the phone and the manager refused to refund us for this claptrap of a room. The manager said since we checked in they would not refund us.
